Secure parking a plus, can see car from the window. Good views across to the Abbey from the sofa and kitchen table. Very clean and comfortable apartment in a nice and well maintained building. Very generous welcome pack provided. Cannot fault a thing.

"Booking the holiday was straightforward and easy to do."
The communication about key collection and parking was excellent. On entering the apartment it felt warm and comfortable, it was well equipped and very clean. The beds were very comfortable and so nice to have a bath and not just a shower. The welcome pack was delightful. A credit to the owners.

"We had a fabulous few days at Abbey View; we were lucky enough to have glorious weather."
The apartment was great - clean, spacious and well equipped, with a superb view of the abbey. Location was perfect, and a pleasant walk downhill into town. Coming back up seemed longer and harder! The only slight disappointment was that the online reviews and the guest book in the apartment all said thank you for the welcome hamper - we didn’t have a welcome hamper! But that’s a small thing really. I would recommend to family and friends, and would certainly want to stay here again.
PS the apartment came with a secure parking space included which was brilliant as it can be difficult to find places to park in Whitby
First of all I am so terribly sorry you did not receive your hamper! I have raised it with the management company as this should not have happened. I do hope that it does not put you off booking the apartment again and giving us an opportunity to rectify the situation next time. "Fantastic views, fab location and a lovely apartment."
Welcome gift was very thoughtful. Would definitely recommend. Great guest information. Feel one sofa needs replacing and beds not that comfortable, especially the single beds. Would have liked a smart TV and struggled a bit that it wasn’t. A TV in the main bedroom would have been nice and a shelf in the bathroom as there was no where to put toiletries. Overall we were very pleased with the accommodation and would stay again.

It was spotless. The owner had thought of everything for a very comfortable stay.
I would just like to mention that one of the sofas was not so comfortable.
I think this was down to general wear and tear. This was mainly on the left
hand side of the sofa facing the window.
Other than that it was perfect.

I completely understand your comment, however personally I love the spectacular view you get from when you are sat on the sofa looking out over the roof tops to the 199 steps and the Abbey itself - which I hope makes up for the Fire Station. "When the owner of a holiday home cares about their guests - it really makes a difference."
That’s the case at Abbey View - everything was very well thought out - from the comfortable sofas and well-equipped kitchen, to a DVD library and printed walks. Particularly impressive was the welcome hamper - quite the most generous we’ve ever encountered and all from the legendary Botham’s bakery - fabulous! The flat itself is compact, but it more than met our needs for a week’s stay. Being on the third floor it was very quiet (thank heavens for the lift) and it’s superbly placed a short walk from town. The secure parking was great, one of our ‘must haves’ when visiting Whitby. We will certainly be making a return visit.

Lovely hamper ( one of the best we have been given) welcomed us into the apartment. Property is in an ideal position, for access to Whitby ( just a short walk down the hill) and also further afield when using the car. Car parking space is a bonus as not many properties in Whitby have onsite parking. Would definitely recommend.

"Great location and apartment but let down by tired and neglected interior."
Carpets stained throughout, toilet didn’t flush, sofa needed replaced, bedding was bizarre. The quilt was too small for the bed and inside a huge cover which meant that the cover trailed on the floor. The sheets weren’t even tucked in and then when stripping the bed on departure, to my horror there was a plastic sheet covering the mattress! Really disappointed as have been with Yorkshire Coastal Cottages on many holidays and have always had lovely accommodation.

"The apartment was very comfortable whilst being clean and Covid safe."
It has great views of the Abbey from the living room and it was only a short walk into the Town.
The parking space is an added bonus but it is rather tight due to the pillars. We ate out most nights and can recommend Trenchers, Harry's Bar an The Star Inn the Harbour all of which served excellent local fare.

Fantastic location for Whitby and great views of the Abbey. I would recommend for couples or small group of friends.
My only complaint would be Sykes failed to tell us the office was shut and that we could not collect the key fob for the car park as detailed in the email they sent me prior to arrival. We wasted our time finding somewhere to park and locate the office we were told to go to only to find it closed. The instructions on how to access the apartment via the keypad outside were also not very clear and it took us several attempts to get in. This is no reflection of the apartment which was great. However Sykes need to update their email communications.

"This is probably one of the cleanest places we have ever stayed."
Thank you for that. We ate out each evening so never used the kitchen items but everything was available. We felt safe and very secure and slept well. My only slight moan would be a suggestion to switch to blackout blinds in bedrooms as very bright first thing. Thank you. We would book this apartment again and recommend it highly.

"Very clean, freshly decorated, very quiet location to rear of property with great views, close to amenities."
This apartment had all we needed. Travelling with two teenagers it’s great location for anyone wanting to explore the many lovely places along coastline and enjoy Whitby town (despite lockdown restrictions). The whole building and communal areas kept clean including the lift. Sea fishing, ‘Cranberry Swamp’ cafe (down the road) and Whitby ‘Eskape room’ experience are top three highly recommended activities to do while you are there! There’s a lovely park also across the road with kids climbing etc for younger families and indoor sports centre (swimming pool) around the corner though unfortunately closed due to restrictions, are an asset to the location. My only slight criticism would be to move a mirror closer to a plug socket for hair styling, so you could swap the ‘beach’ sign and mirror around in the hall for a simple solution!
