  • "Great cottage in a brilliant location."

Really clean and comfy. On arrival we were welcomed with biscuits from Bothams bakery which were lovely. Parking scratch cards are provided and we dropped on a great parking space in the W zone just up from the cottage which was an added bonus. Would recommend this cottage

  • "Great cottage in an amazing location."

Be aware there is no parking directly outside the accommodation but the parking scratchcards are a brilliant idea and there are plenty of spaces within a couple of minutes walk (Kyhber Pass always had spots free). The accommodation is just right for a family, it's got everything you need for a comfortable stay.

  • "Had a great time."

The cottage is lovely. Ideally situated. The only issues we had is that there needs to be a shower over the bath. We had to use our friend's shower in en suite which we found a bit intrusive. Okay there's a bath but some people don't use one. There's not enough storage in the king-size bed bedroom. Not for a weeks stay.

We found the property had everything we needed to make our holiday really enjoyable. The cottage is in a really convenient place for all that Whitby has to offer. On a personal note, thanks so much for the birthday cake. What a lovely surprise when we came back from shopping. We will definitely stay here again

Beds were comfortable with good mattress. One bathroom only had a bath and the shower in the second bathroom is very small so not good if you’re a big person. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Property was well located and clean - however there are a few issues that need correcting: 1/ the door to the en suite bathroom is hanging off it’s hinges and needs repairing 2/ none of the windows open making it stuffy and hot in summer

It is centrally located, tucked away up an alley but in its own locked private courtyard. There is another alley a minute away leading to Bothams Bakery for morning croissants & bagels! The Front is very close by&w West park to exercise your dog. Facilities were great.2 spacious bathrooms&aircon in each large bedroom a plus.Alexa&the wireless docking stations for phones, especially if you forget your charger & biscuits from bothams a nice touch too. It was very clean, modern&fresh!Sally the owner was lovely. We would definitely stay again.

  • "Overall I found the Cottage to be extremely confortable and to have all the facilities I required to have an enjoyable holiday."

However the fridge could do with an overhaul as the bottle tray has fallen off the door. I would have found a shower over the bath in the main Bathroom to be very beneficial. Additional clothes storage, ie a chest of drawers, in the main bedroom would have been far more effective then a dressing table. Directions to find the Cottage would have been far more accurate if Silver St. had been provided rather than Skinner St. and would have saved a fair amount of stress and frustration. Massive plus points go to providing Parking permits, the very close proximity to all amenities including the beach and Old Town Centre and to milk and Cookies on arrival.

  • "Very good, centrally located, cottage, close to town centre, harbour and beaches."

Bedrooms spacious and comfortable. Some minor niggles- instructions should say access is from passage between 14-15 Silver Street; upstairs windows don’t all open (or stay open)- important on hottest day ever!; blinds in bedrooms let in the light. On balance a great stay.

  • "A lovely stay in the extremely well presented cottage."

Parking did not prove to be a problem but people with mobility issues may find it difficult. The only comment we would make is regarding the refuse disposal and collection. It was clear that the collection days were Monday and Thursday but it simply added “put the bin outside”. We put the bin with the other bins in the yard at the end of the access passage on Wed evening but the bin was not collected or emptied by Friday when we left. More specific detail would be valuable. All councils have very different structures.

  • "I stayed with my daughter and her 6 month old son."

The cottage was extremely clean. We were left parking permits and were able to find a space when we needed one. It might be more difficult in holiday periods. Pros: Ideal location within walking distance of everything. The bedrooms are both a good size and there was plenty of room to put up a cot for the baby. The beds were very comfortable. There was everything we needed including Alexa and wi-fi access. Con: The living area would be tight for 4 adults and the only shower was in the ensuite. A separate shower over the bath would be good especially if you were not a family. I haven't given the facilities full marks because of this. I would recommend this cottage.

Cottage has all you need, very clean and close to all attractions. Lovely walks from cottage. Lovely bars and restaurants close by. Just one thing I would recommend, the shower room is quite large this would benefit from a larger shower cubicle. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family.

  • "We stayed in Ashben Cottage for 7 nights in late October."

The cottage was excellent. Clean, bright and well aired. The cottage has large warm bedrooms and really comfy beds. It is centrally placed in Whitby itself. Situated very close to everything. Shops, restaurants and sites are all less than two minutes away on foot! We went for a quiet relaxing break. The cottage is down a (very narrow) road so no noise or disturbances. Overall I would say 'outstanding'.

  • "The cottage was lovely and the location perfect for exploring what Whitby had to offer."

The beds were extremely comfortable and the 2nd bedroom bed was HUGE, certainly enough room if you have 2 kids that don’t mind sharing. In our case we have 1 little one who was very excited to have a massive bed to herself! The cottage is also well kitted out for modern life with lovely bathrooms, kitchen and good wi-fi. The kitchen has everything you need although if you’re like us we didn’t need to use it very often due to plentiful accessible fish and chips! Many thanks to the cottage owners who made the place so welcoming and Whitby was such a gem with both classic seaside/seafront activities (amusements, fairground rides, boat trips) alongside charming cobbled street coffee shops, restaurants and posh shops selling handmade jewellery (amongst other things). To top all that off you have the Abbey, a truly magical place to walk around and we were lucky enough to also catch a (child friendly) production of Dracula being performed within the grounds of the Abbey which was brilliant and at no extra charge! I think the theatre group that did it perform there every summer so it’s definitely worth it if you have a well timed visit. Thanks again so much to the owners of Ashben Cottage and we will definitely be heading back to Whitby!

  • "Once you can find this hidden house you'll find everything you need."

The owner Sally has gone the extra mile with extra touches including an Alexa. Everything was spotless. Whitby is a great holiday getaway, the only real issue is the parking. Once we'd found a space we didn't dare move the car as no guarantee you'd be able to park when you returned, but we made use of the good bus service. There is also a train service. Lots of places to eat and drink and loads of benches to just rest and people watch.

  • "We had a really wonderful stay at Ashben cottage."

It’s in a fantastic location in one of our most favourite places to visit. The cottage was perfect, really comfortable and cosy. It was very clean and tidy and warm. We had everything we needed and more. There were some really nice touches like a welcome pack of the most delicious gingerbread biscuits I’ve ever tasted (from Bothams). Our children loved all the gadgets like the Amazon echo. We had a great week and can’t wait to return!

  • "Ashben Cottage was well tucked away down a little alley but it was a hidden gem."

Once found we discovered a very comfortable cottage. The cottage was well equipped with all we needed. The owners Sally and Graham were very helpful. The cottage was in a fantastic location, very central. We had a super holiday in Whitby and the weather was very kind to us. Would certainly book Ashben Cottage again.

  • "Ashben Cottage is a very high spec property."

It was immaculately clean and has everything that you may need to make your stay enjoyable with every home from home comforts .Everything was of a very high standard. It was so nice having a welcome pack including milk and biscuits and a bonus having Alexa and wi fi phone charger in the bedroom All in all it is perfect, with a central location although must say did initially have a job finding it.The only downside is the availability of the parking. However we did not complete our stay due to the current circumstances of Covid. Whitby itself was just to crowded and nobody but nobody observed any social distances and showed any regard or respect for others. So with regret we made the decision for our own personal safety to return home. We would love to return under different circumstances but the meantime would not hesitate to recommend.

  • "Nice clean accommodation, very cosy feel with pretty much everything you could need for a weekend break."

Great location! although there is no extra cost for parking as it is covered by the cottage owners this is just street parking and it was a struggle to get parked near to the cottage as Whitby is a popular little place.

  • "Great central location for Whitby."

We didn’t use the car all week. Really clean cottage with everything we needed. Limited space downstairs but nothing we couldn’t cope with and the wonderful upstairs rooms and bathrooms more than made up for it! Loads of fabulous walks to do nearby and we made the most of these. Would highly recommend this cottage.

  • "We would definitely recommend Ashben Cottage for a holiday or short break in Whitby."

Ideal for both couples and families. The property is luxuriously decorated inside and all very new and modern and also very comfortable, with plenty of storage areas. The location is just off the main high street in the town so ideal to get about on foot and there is conveniently a car park just a couple hundred yards up the road to park your vehicle. We had a wonderful stay and the owners had left a surprise Birthday cake awaiting for my husband (which is one of the best cakes we have ever had and from Bothams the local bakery just around the corner also very handy for dinner time) we also had other goodies and condiments available which went down well. We found Whitby to be a lovely little harbour we just wished we had a bit longer than four nights there. Considering we went just as lockdown was just easing we were pleasantly surprised with how much was open and found all the local restaurants very accommodating and friendly and of course the fish and chips were amazing. If you want a lovely break in a convenient location then this is for you, we would definitely like to visit again. Thankyou.

  • "Fabulous cottage with everything you could need."

The cottage is in the centre of town and even though the owners provide free parking there is also a pay and display car park 100 yards away which was very reasonable. Ashben is very clean and has lots of extras, Amazon echo and phone chargers to name a few. We had the best time and would not hesitate to return, in fact we have already booked again for next year. The owners Sally and Graham are lovely. Thank you.
