  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and the apartment was lovely, quirky and nicely decorated."

To improve things the WiFi needs to be better as it kept dropping out. I expected condiments such as salt, pepper and sugar to be provided but we. Had to buy them. There was a scratching noise in the twin bedroom that we first thought was mice but it was nesting starlings that had got under the roof tiles. A heads up to the owner is that some of the flashing have failed in the window areas of the lounge and there is evidence of damp. The vinyl is lifting in the bathroom and needs refitting. The toilet is difficult to use for anybody who is tall as it has very little leg room. The internal cladding is falling off internally and a section in the shower needs refining as it has dropped. Omh and a potato masher would have been useful. The noise from the arcade below was louder than we thought it would be but we were out most of the time so not a major issue, and you did warn us. I hope to these comments are of use to you. We would definitely use the apartment again and had a great holiday.

The location is fantastic, the mattresses comfortable and clean, the view is good, would definitely NOT stay here again.

The location was great with the shops and attractions being so close. So peaceful in the morning and evening. The views from the property were stunning. I will not forget being soothed to sleep by the sounds of the waves and being woken by the sound of the fishing boats leaving the harbour in the morning. And then gazing out to sea with my morning cup of tea!

Location is fantastic, views amazing, proximity to everything is just great and the accommodation is perfect. It was tidy, clean and very cosy. We couldn’t be happier! The only thing that made a slight difference was the noise from the House of Mouse outside the property. Other than that we couldn’t recommend it more. We’re already talking about when we’ll be back. The beaches and countryside there are beautiful so we did lots of walking, rode the steam train, visited the local sites and lots of pubs. A lot of reviews mentioned the noise from the children's fairground ride but it was only open on Saturday until 5pm so didn't disturb us at all. If there was anything we would have appreciated having in the flat it would be a salad spinner and servers and more hooks in the bathroom to hang wet towels but nothing that spoilt our stay. Would happily stay at the property again.

Everything we needed was located nearby and the Fisherman's Wife restaurant next door is excellent for all seafood . The welcome pack with a handwritten message was a lovely touch from Chris . The apartment even had a set of binoculars which helped us spot seabirds out on the waves. the views are splendid and the deck chairs were great for our beach sundowners. The beach is 5 mins walk away and the cottage provides a permit for parking opposite again easy access to the apartment. I would thoroughly recommend this apartments and will book again .

We realised that it could be from 10-5 but on our first few days there it went on until 9 p.m. It would be quite bearable if it wasnt for the ride with the very loud toot tooting and bell clanging train noise. For this reason we wouldnt go back there. We thought the living area, kitchen and bathroom were very nicely set out.Loved the electric sofa and the kitchen with everything provided was very good. We would definitely recommend this with its lovely views and close proximity to everything if it wasnt for the noise.

We loved being really central in the town and right by the beach, lovely views. Really disappointed however that the listing for the property says there is a bath, which we chose to suit our health/physical ability requirements, and there is not bath - only a walk in shower. A great place to stay, but the listing needs to be amended to reflect what's available in the bathroom.

  • "So the grumpy man who says there is a fairground outside, yes there is."

It is a kids fair, plays some old disco tunes and ran from about 10am til 5pm so not all night and not too early. Given the location of this apartment right on the sea front, i am surprised he didn’t mention noise from walkers, the sea and the seagulls as well..... The quality of this accommodation is amazing , very quirky and we absolutely loved it. Great cleaning and hand gel everywhere and we were sad to leave today. When you can wake up, walk your dog on the seafront and jetty in literally seconds from leaving, why would you not be happy. We really needed a change of scene and sea air was perfect. If you book this property and are grateful for all the plus points, you will not be disappointed .

Communication with the local proved to be an issue as the office was closed and none of the published phone numbers were correct. I also questioned the excessive service fee levied by Homeaway who in fact provided no service whatsoever as all payments and subsequent communications were directly with Sykes. Homeaway have proven to be nearly impossible to communicate with and have simply dismissed my enquiry.

As always the views are what we come for they are the best plus easy access to the beach and of course the fact that it’s dog friendly. However this time there were issues, firstly cleaning the place could do with a deep clean, we found a number of cobwebs, and the windows need cleaning inside and out regularly, and the place could do with a refresh it’s looking a little tired Finally TV working so hubby happy but no WIFI we couldn't connect at all - this was not a problem before, so don't know why now? Very disappointing as I'd hope to catch up on some work issues during our break

Everything that you could possibly need for a stay in Whitby. The extra package of milk, teabags, and Parkin etc was a nice surprise and very well received. The beds were super comfortable and bedding and towels lovely and clean. The only downside was that we couldn’t get a signal so the TV didn’t work and the main entrance to the apartments could do with a lick of paint but overall a great place to stay, right in the centre if whitby.

If we had known this I would not have taken my 86 year old parents to this property. When I emailed about the noise of the funfair and requested financial recompense for this, I was told that the funfair is always there. (It wasnt constructed until late on Friday evening keeping me awake) if it is always there, why was it never mentioned anywhere.
