  • "Destiny Rose was perfect for our party, 4 Adults and a dog."

Lots of space, really comfy beds and everything we could possibly want or need in the kitchen. Even the dining chairs were comfy, we sat at the table and played games one night, it was great fun. The free parking for 2 cars is a bonus. It’s a fair walk to the centre of Whitby, but we liked that. A very enjoyable stay.

  • "This was our 2nd time staying at the property and we have just booked our 3rd stay."

House is homely and comfortable, the beds are amazing, I have asked where I can buy one of the duvets from as slept amazingly with it. The arms chairs and brown leather sofa are not the most comfortable, however they are acceptable- but you do sink down in them and slide a little. The oven had not been cleaned very well, there was fat at the bottom of the oven which smoked and smelt when we used it. Also it would help to leave cleaning products to clean the work surfaces and the yard, as this may encourage people to do it if available. Internet box could do with being on a shelf, it is currently on top of the shoe box, however it got knocked over getting coats or lifting the box lid and if placed on the floor the internet signal was poor. Outside yard was washed down when the dog had been out there, but I think the astroturf has urine soaked in, as one day it was fairly warm with the sun on it and it stunk, despite me washing the yard. It may be better without the Astroturf as it will be easier to clean and less likely to hold liquid. I was informed about there being staining on the main bedroom ceiling from a leak however we unfortunately had very heavy rain one night and woke to hear drip drip drip. An emergency repair was booked and later in the week we had heavy rain but no issue with a bedroom water feature. So fingers crossed all will be sorted until roof is replaced next month. Location of the house is brilliant, and parking for two cars is excellent (once you master the reverse into the drive) We have found some brilliant places to eat over the past two years (dog friendly) Rusty Shears off Flowergate The Yorkshire wraps are huge and tasty Dog even got treated to a portion of sausage by the staff Sherlocks - flowergate We found this place last year and it is still as good Carrot cake is amazing as are the scones Coffee is good and always hot Chapel on the hill (Brunswick st)- left card in the house We went on the first day and planned to go on our last day but it was shut. Staff are friendly and welcoming and the food was scrummy, with lots of choice. Fuzzy dog bakery (flowergate) Dream place for our dog, the owner makes a fuss of the dog and gives them a treat or 3. Lovely friendly shop, I was so pleased to see that they were still open. Beach and rock pools, we’d only used the beach on the west cliff side, however on our last day we followed the path to the left at the bottom of the abbey steps and followed the street down to the jetty and pier- from here there was plenty of sand areas and rock pools, will definitely explore this more next year. Pannet Park/ Whitby museum The park is nice and clean and good for children, we also found a community book library within the community garden. Museum is free for children or £8 for adults (12 months entry) it was interesting with lots of collections. I did leave our tickets in the house if anyone wants to use to gain entry (left with the leaflets in the dining room) It’s official my heart is lost to Whitby

  • "We arrived to bowls on the floor of the double front bedroom room with water leaking through the roof."

One bed had not been made up. We found a small maggot on the mattress, still alive and wriggling. I think it was a bed worm. It was dirty. Balls of fluff on the floor behind the doors and under the sofas. Red water marks in the bath. I made a complaint to the cleaning company, who arrived within 30 minutes, made the bed, hoovered upstairs and removed the maggot on the mattress. The lady was lovely and really helpful. The downstairs shower was not working, this was not rectified during our visit. The isolation switch was switched on. The owner has given us £125 refund. We looked for alternative accommodation, but none was available.

We are sorry that this stay was affected by the roof problems and severe December storms… The roof will be completely retiled and the ceilings repainted in March/April. In the meantime the discoloration of the paintwork in the front bedroom should be all that detracts from the property presentation. The downstairs shower is fully operational - the isolator switch had been switched off. We have labelled the switches to clarify for future guests. The property description makes clear the third bedroom has a trundle under the single made-up bed, with spare bedding provided to make the trundle up as required. If guests want the trundle bed made up for their arrival, they only need to advise Sykes or ourselves and this will be arranged with the cleaners. New smart TVs have been installed in the lounge and main bedroom.. Property Owner

  • "We had a great week at Destiny rose, both super king beds were very comfy, although there were 2 bathrooms the downstairs didn't get used to much as it was cold and no way of locking the door which meant the 1st floor bathroom had a few queues."

The single bedroom was very compact when made up as a double.idealy i think if the property were advertised as a 2 bed with 2 en-suites it would be perfect.parking was useful at the back although a little tight. But after saying all of the above the property was clean and we had a wonderful stay. Ps,shame about the building work at 39,still drilling and banging at 9-30 one night.and the tv could do with being a lot larger.Anthony B

Thanks for your feedback. We have turned up the new radiator in the downstairs shower room and a new 43 inch lounge smart TV has been installed, as well as a smart TV in the Chanel double bedroom. The property is deliberately described as two double bedrooms and a single with a trundle under, so, while setting this room up as a superking double is possible, doing so does make it very tight! • "Destiny Rose is a lovely house to spend a holiday in."

I have stayed in lots of holiday homes and the kitchen equipment in this one is amazing, the owners have thought of absolutely everything. The beds were lovely and comfortable too. We did think that the 10 minutes to the town centre and beach was a bit underestimated. We had a walk into town on the first day and found it really hard going and the walk back up those hills was daunting so we had a taxi back. We were pleased to find the parking card for us to use and it came in very handy on several occasions. Perhaps you should list the fact that you offer this on your website because we found it by accident among the leaflets in the dining room. Overall we had a lovely stay at Destiny Rose it was a delightful property

Thanks for your feedback. We do try to leave some parking clock cards for visitor use to park for up to 3 hours in many areas (not all so check the signs!), however these do evaporate and are freely available at stores throughout town… The shortcuts to the beach and town are in the information binder - they do involve some steps and slopes, but that is the price of fabulous cliff top sea views! Unfortunately we were plagued with noise from the building works next door with a lot of dust, and sometimes debris. in the yard. The yard is not the most pleasant with weeds around the sides (including a 6ft sycamore) and untended pot plants.

We have just finished a very deep clean, replaced the microwave and checked over all the facilities, so I hope visitors over the next few months really enjoy their stay! We are also in process of arranging a major roof upgrade that will enable us to redecorate the water damage that lets down the appearance the front bedroom… Property Owner

Beds were comfortable with clean fresh bed linen & towels. Massively let down by cleanliness of the house. Hit by unpleasant smell & hovered on arrival. In desperate need of a deep clean as previously stated in reviews. Owner being mugged off by cleaning company. Outside area in need of some TLC. Dead plants in pots & on walls cluttering up the space. (& possibly some Jays fluid or alike as got pungent when the sun hit it. Dogs urinal) I understand dogs are allowed but without good cleaning in-between lets it creates unpleasant problems. Spent most of our time out of the property enjoying the town & meeting up with some of the family. Would recommend Whitby as a Holliday destination.

Thanks for your feedback and sorry that you were disappointed with the presentation on arrival. Firstly dogs using the courtyard - regrettably some guests don’t follow our direction not to let their pets foul there and if they do so to use the hose and tap provided to thoroughly wash it down. We will take a look at reinforcing this… We have replaced the microwave and gave the property a deep clean in September. Property Owner

It is a beautiful property. Lovely, spacious and fun. The kitchen and utilities facilities are great though we didn't use them much. It's in a great position for the town. Parking on the road is a challenge especially when neighbours down the road put out cones to block parking! Fortunately there is parking around the back and I did get the hang of multi point turning to get out! Overall we loved it. We may well return to Whitby and Destiny Rose will top the list for where to stay.

Plenty room. Note to park at rear: drive in to the driveway on right then back up to the yard. Then you can get out easy. Neighbor was friendly. Note sign does not say number 41 at entrance track. Whitby is lovely and Robin Hood Bay a must! 10 mins to town and museum 1 mins! Go to museum and see amazing items eg where the word hangover comes from! We all had fantastic sleeps really good beds. Negatives are really minor- bedroom door doesnt close fully, lots dust in places not important eg under beds, cuboard top surface, curtains dont block light, promanade is 10 mins but beach is another 10 mins owing to the bank to get to the sand. Get a fantastic photo of priory in evening from end of the nearest pier. The light then nakes an incredible scene. Go in church next to abbey its very interesting and much better value than abbey. Thanks for a great holiday in a very good location and all important very comfy beds!

There were cobwebs on the light fittings, some walls and ceilings. The cooker extractor felt very greasy to the touch when we used it. Not being able to get into the property until 4pm we thought that the property would be completely cleaned from the previous tenants. Having said the above the facilities in the property were good, dishwasher used, washing machine & tumble dryer, iron not used. Full sized fridge/freezer, microwave, kitchen was really well equipped. Beds were extremely comfortable and the rooms are very spacious. We took too small dogs with us and the enclosed courtyard was an added advantage. Position was excellent only a short walk from Whitby harbour. Our overall stay was good and we would consider a return visit.

It was great to be so close to the town centre and the beach and the on site parking was great as we just parked up and didn’t touch the car all weekend. Our youngest is three and she managed the walking with no problem, although it is quite a steep hill down to town so bear that in mind. The downstairs shower was very helpful as we showered the kids after the beach trip without them getting sand around the house. Absolutely fantastic property and position and we hope to visit again some time.

Beds and living room chairs are very comfortable and there is plenty of space. Kitchen is well equipped and you can cook. Hot water supply is plentiful and the double key access from front and rear worked well. The house is well located for Whitby attractions and bus stops, and the off road parking is a real bonus. We liked the house a lot. There are a few very minor niggles: washing up liquid not provided; only four dishwasher tablets and insufficient liquid soap for the number of bathrooms. These minor niggles were easily fixed. This house will be on our list for next year

Thank you for your lovely feedback, we are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and would like to return again! (Though please label it better from the road as we drove past 4 times trying to figure out where to go.) There was also plenty of space for a holiday cottage which again was really nice. One problem we experienced while there was that the recycling bin for the property was ABSOLUTELY full when we arrived so we ended up having to take ALL our recycling home with us, which was not ideal. I also dropped an earring at one point and it rolled under the bed. I wish I hadn't stuck my hand under there to get it out again! Looking under the bed (back bedroom) there was a thick layer of dust and odds and ends that previous other tenants had clearly lost. Under the bed had clearly not been cleaned out for some time (though the cleanliness of the rest of the cottage seemed to be fine). It wouldn't take much to just get a swiffer brush under there

Thanks for the feedback. We will put a schedule of bin collections into the information to try to encourage visitors to put the right bin out for collection as they leave… As to the parking we will also refer to the neighbours signs, designed to stop Whitby parking space desperados from blocking up their driveway, to clarify this is the entrance! Two unencumbered off street spaces like those provided are gold dust in Whitby! Lastly will also arrange with the cleaners to have the beds lifted and hoovered under quarterly… Property Owner

The downstairs shower did not work. The upstairs shower over the bath was fine. However with mobility issues I found it very difficult to climb into the bath as it's quite high. The riser rail in this bathroom needs attention. The central heating comes on during the night.. Not during the early evening when needed. The kitchen is very nice and modern. Overall the property is good but needs attention to the window blinds, the showers and the central heating.

I am sorry Sally had difficulty using Destiny Rose...and disappointed to receive such a low out-of-character score. The shower has been checked and is working perfectly well - it had be switched off at the isolator switch - a possibility that Sally was advised to check when she called over the issue. The blinds are both also working well, if a little heavy due to their size - am considering installing vertical blinds instead as these are easier to adjust.... The central heating is programmed to come on as requested by sally, however if switched to manual, as had been done, it will remain on at the temperature selected permanently. Property Owner
