  • "Quaint, comfortable cottage which was ideally centrally situated."

Couldn't fault it. Parking was a problem but that was to be expected. Would go back.

  • "It's a lovely cosy cottage, set right in the middle of beautiful Whitby."

Immaculately clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. It wouldn't really be suitable for someone with limited mobility as the staircase is steep and spiral, you can drop your luggage off at the gateway, but then you need to find a parking spot elsewhere, I suggest the backstreets on the route up to the Abbey, or make use of the parking permit which was provided, a very nice touch. Would highly recommend.

  • "The cottage is beautiful and quaint spotless and we equipped."

The owners have maximised the space and the outside patio was perfect. The location is brilliant right in the centre of Whitby. Parking is a little tricky but wasn’t a problem just be aware the car may be parked on the other side of Whitby!! But the cottages were there long before cars existed and it’s worth it for the location. The cottage is compact and we were 4 adults and 2 large dogs so it was a bit of a squeeze but it didn’t bother us as we’ve holidayed together for years and we’d definitely go back. Perfect for a family of 4 with a little dog. Whitby itself is a beautiful place with beaches walks history and great shops and restaurants/ pubs. Very friendly locals!! Robin Hoods Bay and Staithes worth a visit if you’re there for a week

  • "Beautiful cottage."

Clean and finished to a high standard. It’s in a great location, set back off the main high street in the old town but really quiet and peaceful. The outside area is lovely to sit in. The parking scratch cards are useful. The only inconvenience is the check out time. 10am! That’s super early, especially considering there’s no parking and if you use the scratchcards you’re likely a 15 minute walk from your car. So you are actually out of the house at 9:30, get the car to drive back and pack up. There’s no need to get people out that early on a Sunday!

  • "Unfortunately there seemed to be no terrestrial channels on the TV?"

Our grandchildren love to watch in the evening when we are all relaxing. Also the car parking was at least a mile away from our cottage and we were not prepared to risk anything happening to it, so it stayed in the Church Street car park (at a cost of £36.80). I think consideration should be given to assist with parking nearer to alleviate this problem.

  • "We had a fantastic week in Hagstone Cottage."

We've made some beautiful memories & in the end wished we'd booked 2 weeks! The cottage itself is beautiful, it was very very clean & the fixtures and fittings and accessories were of a high standard. We loved all the 'hagstones' around the cottage & we found some of our own on the beach. Clarks Yard is very pretty & to say its right on town, its set back away from the hustle and bustle so much calmer atmosphere. We enjoyed a glass of wine or 2 in the garden area & chatted to the friendly neighbours. The bed is the most comfortable Ive ever slept on, and I'm usually a terrible sleeper but had some amazing nights sleep during our time in the cottage. We would of liked a TV in the master bedroom, so we did miss that. The top floor shower was amazing too! The wifi was a good strong signal and was needed for streaming TV downstairs. We used our own accounts for Netflix & BBCiplayer & used the account logged into Amazon Fire. Again its a shame there was no dvd/bluray player but we manged fine. The log burner was a bit of a mare, we didnt have much success with it for some reason! There were 3 logs left for us so we bought more & ended up leaving most of them for the next people lol. We couldn't find a pale to put ashes in or shovel & brush to clean it out, so apologies for leaving it full of ash. We ended up just putting candles on it

The cottage was very quaint and had everything we needed. The location was fantastic. Great for exploring the area during the day - Runswick beach is beautiful, and for eating out in whitby in the evening. Most evenings we sat outside in the 'Yard' and enjoyed relaxing. The yard is so pretty and we noticed has won lots of awards. On our last night we ordered in fresh lobster and crab delivered fresh to the cottage. I would definitely recommend staying here to family and friends.

Just a warning.... the nearest car park is 60% closed due to building work and parking was incredibly difficult as it was a very busy weekend. I ended up with a £50 parking fine. Otherwise loved the house and will definitely be back.

  • "We really enjoyed staying in this cosy comfortable cottage."

It was well equipped, tastefully decorated, and in a great location in one of the peaceful yards off Church Street. I loved the seagull and fish themed creations displayed in different areas. The heating was slightly problematic to manage via the 'nest', but we made good & enjoyable use of the wood burning stove. We would love to return to Hagstone Cottage at a different time of year & plan to do so!

  • "The only reason I have marked down slightly on cleanliness was that the microwave hadn’t been cleaned as there was sauce still on the microwave plate and the oven had some used foil still inside it."

The cottage is absolutely stunning and we would certainly book it again however something this small may put others off. It would be such a shame for the cleanliness to let this property down as everything else was amazing. A list of the items left for you to use would also be much appreciated on the website, as it would have saved me packing things I didn’t need such as washing up liquid and hand wash. Thanks x

This was out 1st holiday with our dog and was a little unsure if the cottage would be really clean or if there would be any doggy smell or hair left around but i was pleasantly surprised. The cottage was immaculate! No trace of damp doggy anywhere. Hopefully other guests were and are as respectful as us & made sure the animals stay of the furniture.
