  • "Beautiful,modern apartment."

Spotlessly clean and well equipped. Short walk to local amenities but might be worth mentioning the very steep hill. A mirror in the single room would be a useful addition.

  • "We had a lovely stay: the apartment was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and welcoming, and the public areas of the building were also beautifully clean and maintained."

Location is excellent - five minutes gentle walk from Royal Crescent and the sea. The secure parking space and the lift were particularly welcome, as some of our group have mobility issues. Would definitely recommend, and hope to visit again on a future occasion. Sail Away is very well equipped: our one tiny suggestion is to add a small sharp knife to the kitchen - otherwise, everything was provided that we could have needed for our stay. Thank you!

Fantastic location, to the right a short walk to the beach to the left a short walk to Whitby Harbour, with the added bonus of secure parking. Neighbours were really friendly and polite, always with a friendly hello. I would highly recommend staying at 'Sail Away' and we are already making plans to go again next year. • "Overall a comfortable and well equipped place to stay with questionable cleanliness detail not as it should be, which we discussed some of what we found with the owner upon arrival but as we had not inspected the whole, prior to this conversation, they would not know the rest I am commenting on here, so I apologise for not doing so before hand and wish that you take my comments and views as constructive please."

We did feel very secure and safe within the building. Parking was difficult for us, ( this may not be the case for others) one space only per flat and woe-betide you if you park in another space even for a moment... notes get left on your car and there is a very rude resident who fired expletives at us when we parked in their space temporarily - even though they clearly had no car, as it was empty all week and neither did they shout at the cleaner of our flat who turned up just before we left and parked in that space - something that needs addressing we feel as it was quite upsetting, we had agreed to move based on finding the note and prior to the tirade of bad language - Our flat owner said we could park on the main road (Upgang Lane) where space permits as it was cost-free to do so, but there were no spaces in the five days we were there- there is a public car park around the next corner but it was full and we weren't sure if it was 24/7. We needed a second space for our Son-in-law's car when he came to the flat half-way through the break as last-minute work commitments prevented him arriving with us at the beginning- Our Car (BMW X7) being very large, required the availability of spaces being empty either side and opposite of our allocated space in order to be able to manoeuvre out of or into our space. The apartment can be quite noisy when windows are open, being 3rd floor and front facing to a main road, but well glazed windows shutting out most of the early morning noise. We happened to stay during the much publicised heatwave of Mid-July (2022) and were glad we chose to take our own air purifiers/coolers- it would have been unbearable had we not as the apartment is very well insulated A High level of equipment thoughout, though the toaster (two slots of the four didn't work) and dishwasher were not mentioned in the advertising. We did not use the washer/dryer or the microwave so cannot comment on them. Very Very comfy beds... a hairdryer in the wardrobe of the largest bedroom, ( I didn't look in the other big bedroom cupboard used by our daughter and her husband) ) but I took my own as I always do and a generally comfortable adequate space for the four adults and one child (aged 8) The Ensuite shower was quite small and I had to switch off the water and open the door to shampoo and soap myself and also the exterior of the door was badly limed up at the outside base and thus the shower door moving parts squeaked and ground their way open or shut, there was the beginnings of mould in the tile grout at the inside base of the shower too. There is a helper handle just inside the shower but no shelf inside the shower to rest bottles on and so another reason for having to turn off the water and open the door... I had to clean up quite a bit in this bathroom upon arrival as the floor had clearly not been mopped, I cleaned up as we left too, using dettol antibacterial wipes to ensure the next guest did not experience the dirty floor we arrived at. (I left the fused socket top with dust on to highlight the fact it needed doing as did the tile top trims in both bathrooms and kitchen) The tops of the wardrobes were dusty too. The towels are a little inadequate (small hand towels) and in our opinion require renewing, and they had lost their Ooomph as had the toilet brushes which are not long enough to do the job properly. I purchased bleach and toilet duck whilst there to keep the toilet clean throughout our stay. There is also no fabric kitchen hand towel... just two tea towels and oven gloves... I was glad I took my own In our humble opinion there is space enough to change the shower in the ensuite, to a walk in shower, going straight across the back wall, tiling up to the ceiling, towel rack high up on the wall, helper handle and fixed shelf/basket added ( Miller bathroom accessories - a Swedish company- not cheap at all but coast grade steel that does not rust and no, I do not work for them incase any readers are thinking so, they are just jolly good long-serving products- we had one in a shower in daily use for over 10 years before we added an ensuite bathroom at home and not one sign of rust anywhere). This would eliminate any moving parts and make cleaning much easier. The same could be said of the family bathroom with messy hand held shower over the very large bath, There was room to make it a 'P' bath with shower screen or a changeable double shower curtain (one quality white one to go inside the bath that gets changed and washed per every resident change to prevent mould and a pretty exterior one, ( add a two step step ladder in the boiler cupboard for the cleaner to be able to change the curtain) or add a walk in shower too and have the bath also. This is a very large bathroom!! The addition of a mop and bucket in the boiler cupboard would be another advantage, if there were any accidents/leaks in the bathroom and kitchen there would be nothing to clean up with... it would help the cleaner too, save him/her carrying one up in the lift each time they came. Overall, despite the high level of equipment/facilities and comfort within even with or without the changes we suggest, we would perhaps not stay here again given the parking issues - purely on the size of our car- a smaller 4 x 4 would be okay. I feel I should say here again to the owners, especially as she was so kind and helpful during our 'phone conversation regarding parking etc, that our suggestions are just that and not intended to wound or prevent others from staying here, it is a really nice comfortable place, and our suggestions are meant to be constructive with the intent of bringing in further revenue. Thank you for affording us the opportunity to stay and comment.
