  • "Really nice cottage."

Everything as per listing. Lovely spot to spend a week. Lots of information and maps in cottage to assist planning of days out. Nice and warm on a very cold April week which was much appreciated.

Thank you for your comments, we are glad you made good use of all the information and maps. And enjoyed your pub meal on one of your walks. Best wishes Ruth & Gordon Property Owner

  • "A resounding success for many reasons."

We were lucky to have pretty good weather overall, against the grain of the forecast which helps! A nice, clean and tidy, upside down cottage with some old fittings remaining, adding to the charm. All expected items were there, but the bonu or the summer heat is that, with the Granary partly submerged into terra firma, the north-facing bedrooms were nice and cool. Wetwang is perfectly placed for all points around the area. Beverley to Scarborough to Pickering to York are all in easy reach. Nearby Driffield has everything you need, including cheapest petrol around, but mainly plenty of places to eat. Plenty of cafes around and about so no-one ever goes hungry. Wetwang even has a small fish and chip place. If just relaxing, the views across the fields from the cottage to the North are lovely and there are paths to walk. What's not to like?

Thank you for your feedback, most appreciated. Definitely an advantage of The Granary in the summer are the cool bedrooms. Maybe you will visit us again ? Best wishes Ruth & Gordon Property Owner

Really appreciated the milk, biscuits, dog treats and hot chocolate! Lovely location perfect for visiting lots of different parts of Yorkshire and fabulous walks right on the doorstep. And what a view from the window! The only note I would make is to make sure you have milk, bread loo roll and other basics in as there is no shop nearby (for townies like me used to having everything on their doorstep!). Otherwise a lovely trip and would certainly recommend the granary as a fantastic place to stay.

  • "Very clean, well equipped property."

Perfect for us - 2 adults & a dog. We could have parked our car beside the property but found it easier to park across the road. With the gate closed, the garden was enclosed although a smaller dog would have simply walked underneath the gate. Our dog did have a go at limbo dancing but we caught him before he could make his escape. Friendly, helpful neighbour. We had a lovely Sunday meal in the Victoria Inn and visited a lot of places round about including various farmshops. Weather had turned very cold & snowy so we maybe curtailed how much time we spent outdoors but it didn't spoil our holiday.

The weather certainly did change for you. The Victoria Inn certainly is popular with our guests. Thank you for choosing to stay at The Granary. Property Owner

One thing it might be worth investing in is a better shower-head; one that points the water in the same direction. The current one has a very wide spread, and if you are taller than about 5ft 8in it means you are likely to get water everywhere! Also makes it quite difficult to wash shampoo out of your hair.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the shower head, this is due to be replaced during our winter maintenance. Property Owner

Had a meal from the local pub , delivered night before we came away. The views a cross the fields were fantastic. You could walk the dog for miles no problem. Nice little kids park just down the lane from the cottage. A well placed cottage as you are just a street away from the A166 which can take you to York or the other way to the East Coast. We had great weather and did some lovely walks with are dog both at the coast and the surrounding country side. A proper chill out.

Carpets had only been laid 3 weeks ago so were quite relieved weather was superb while we were there for the week. King Size Bed far more comfortable than our own which made for great sleep. The Granary is situated on a quiet lane well back from the busy main through road - I never heard a thing and such a light sleeper. The whole cottage was lovely for our stay as it included bike storage in the garage. We enjoyed a lovely meal at the Victoria Inn which is a short walk from the accommodation and we went back for a desert another day as their portion sizes are large and the food is very tasty. While we were staying at the cottage, the village had a scarecrow trail and the owner left us a map for us to wander around the village and spot the scarecrow and try to find Snow White's missing dwarves. The villagers were very friendly and loved to have a chat. As it was half term a few families were wandering around the village doing the scarecrow trail as well. This charming detached cottage is ideally placed for exploring both the lovely rolling countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds, the numerous nearby stately homes and the seaside resorts of Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough.

With upside down accommodation, there is an open plan living area on the first floor, which incorporates a modern kitchen with breakfast bar and a comfortable sitting area.

The beautiful beams have been retained in this room, along with the original winching and lifting gear from the granary, a wonderful feature, whilst the windows overlook the beautiful scenery.

Downstairs are the two cosy bedrooms, both with beamed ceilings and the family bathroom.

Outside there is a lovely private courtyard where you can sit and relax with a refreshing drink whilst planning activities for the rest of your holiday.

A few minutes’ walk brings you to one of the two local pubs and an excellent fish and chip shop.

The surrounding area has superb walking and cycling opportunities, with peaceful country lanes, public footpaths and cycle routes.

Within a short drive are the picturesque market towns of Driffield, Pocklington, Beverley and Malton, all with a rich array of independent shops, restaurants and weekly market days, or you may wish to visit Sledmere House, which is a Grade I listed Georgian country house and Burton Agnes Hall, an Elizabethan manor house, with their fabulous gardens.

Children of all ages will enjoy a day at the seaside in Bridlington, with its long sandy beaches, fine promenades and pretty harbour.

A well-placed holiday home for an enjoyable and varied break.
