"Lovely clean and spacious beautiful property we had a great time close to all the amenities."
-
"This is an excellent house, brilliantly located with private outdoor space."
Good facilities and lots of character. Highly recommend and we’ve booked it for 2025.
-
"Lovely spacious period property perfect for families and pets with a great location to all local amenities but also in a quiet location so very peaceful."
Would highly recommend this property as we intend to stay here again.
-
"Very much enjoyed our stay, no hesitation in returning or recommending."
Fabulous property, credit to the owner. Lovely outside space which we were able to use but would benefit from some TLC and could be a real oasis. One up for Whitby!
-
"We gave up flying to foreign locations over 30 years ago and made Whitby our favoured annual retreat."
Over this timespan we have rented many different "cottages" in the town, previously via Ingrid Flute. Although we have no complaints about our previous locations, 20A is the standout in 9/10 respects. It's so sad that having devoted so much time, thought, expense and effort that the owner suffered the tragic loss of her husband. We are Leeds residents, so she probably lives not far away. We aim to return, God willing (ages 77 & 82!)
-
"A very nice, well-equipped and well-kept place."
Very convenient walking distance into Whitby. Parking situation was okay after our day trips. Ideally located to explore the surrounding area.
-
"We loved our stay."
The location is great and the house is lovely. If anything, the photos of the house don't do it justice because it was bigger than we thought. The private courtyard was perfect. We felt very secluded and secure. Our dog absolutely loved the place, too.
-
"This is a beautiful and highly characterful property."
We loved the comfortable beds, log burner, location and general decor. It had all the cooking and laundry equipment you need, and we really appreciated the thoughtful additions like books and record player. We'd be happy to stay again! Some points to note: We only found one window that would open, which was a shame as we really wanted some fresh air in the bathroom and main bedroom. People with mobility issues may find the bathrooms in this property challenging. The main bathroom has a tall-sided bath, which you must climb in and out of and use a hand-held shower head. The top floor en-suite has a very small shower cubicle, but that's up two flights of stairs. Parking can be a challenge (that's all of Whitby - not specific to this property!). You may have to pause on double-yellows to quickly unload your car, then park quite far away.

"Beautifully decorated and furnished home, a delight to stay in."
Peaceful location so slept well yet only 5 minutes down the hill into Whitby town/harbour. Skinner street nearby has deli and bakers for morning parties. Altogether a lovely peaceful, comfortable stay
-
"Fantastic property, immaculately clean & great location."
The owner has left a lovely handbook which covers everything. It was nice to read about the history of the house. The enclosed outside space was perfect for our dog. The kitchen is very well equipped & there is even a coffee machine with coffee pods. Collecting the keys from Yorkshire Coastal Cottages just around the corner couldn’t have been easier. We would definitely return, thank you!
-
"This is our 3rd stay at 20A."
Very comfortable place to stay. Well positioned in Whitby a few minutes walk to the Cinder track. Immaculately clean will no doubt not be our last visit
-
"We had a lovely stay."
Peaceful yet close to everything the town has to offer. House was ideal. We enjoyed the old style record player.
-
"Beautiful home, cosy and spacious, totally secure courtyard for dog , wonderfully situated in centre of town so no need to drive, yet also peaceful retreat."
Everything we wanted and more. A bonus that it was very nicely decorated for Christmas with lots of thoughtful touches and a good tree. Friendly neighbour who made us feel welcome on arriving yet not intrusive at all, thanks to Sally for the Fizz a Christmas Eve treat. . Definitely stay again, would make one suggestion that if people want to use the multi fuel burner they bring logs and kindling if they don’t want to drive or you advise were to get these. But the place is so warm no need for a fire as heating is excellent. THANK YOU a great stay 10/10 Perfect

"This is our second stay at 20A St Hilda’s and it will definitely not be our last."
The house is a true home from home; quirky and full of very personal touches. The location is ideal both for touring around this beautiful coast and enjoying all that Whitby has to offer.
-
"Fantastic property , clean and well-appointed."
Quirky - loved it !!
-
"The big minus is uncertain daily availability of disc car parking spaces and the long walks often as a result, as well as anxiety over high costs of local alternatives."
This should be notified by Sykes BEFORE booking, as should details of entertainment technology on the premises ,such as TV ,DVD and music deck.In this case a record player proved outstanding with its well collected music, but the computerised TV was naff.
-
"Superb property."
We love everything about it. It is very spacious and comfortable; the paintings, decor and books etc make it feel like a real home. The kitchen is very well equipped and the enclosed courtyard is really good for beach stuff etc. this is our second visit and we have already booked for next year.
-

-

-
"Beautifully furnished and spacious, we love this apartment and hope to return"
-
"Fabulous house with everything we needed."
Loved the mix of decor. The old and new really worked. Sheets crisp and white and big white fluffy towels. Just as it should be in my opinion. Big bonus to have a garden. Most properties don’t in Whitby. Would definitely recommend and hope to return soon.

"Lovely stay."
Thank you

"We had a lovely stay at 20A St Hilda’s."
The location is great, although I’m not sure what parking would be like in high season. There are however so many things to do locally, you don’t need to use your car that often. The house was spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean, with everything you need for a great holiday.
-
"Great house, great location, fully equipped and very clean and comfortable."
Loved the comfortable bed and bedding was so cosy. We received a lovely welcome pack which was a nice touch, Would definitely stay at this property again
-
"Cosy comfortable cottage."
Close to all amenities. Hidden gem. Thank you.
-
"Fantastic"
-
"Parking near property very difficult and you don’t make this clear."
However the property exceeds expectations. It is fabulous. Extremely spacious and comfortable. Your local office at Skinner Street were very helpful but your checkout time could do with being an hour later. I would love to stay at this property again though, it’s exceptional.

"What a lovely cottage!"
Many places describe themselves as home from home which 20b St Hilda’s certainly is. Charmingly decorated, very well equipped warm and inviting, it’s location being the icing on the cake. We loved it so much that had booked for next year within a couple of days of arriving.
-
"A lovely holiday home, tastefully decorated and furnished in keeping with the property period."
A really well equipped kitchen with a full size freezer and fridge. The bedrooms are of a good size with plenty of storage. The property is situated just a few minutes walk from the harbour, beaches and shops. A bakers, coffee shops and a couple of bars just a couple of minutes walk from the property. The only reason for 4stars was the car parking, we didn't get a parking spot near to the property all week which meant carrying coolbags etc. to where we had to park the car. Luckily the weather was dry so at least we didn't get wet walking to and from the car.
-
"Absolutely lovely; the photos on the site don’t really do it justice."
We have booked another two weeks already! Perfect location just round the corner from the nicest shops and cafes, yet has a completely secluded feel when sitting in the courtyard. So spacious inside, kitchen equipped superb and furnished beautifully.
-
"A very beautiful property in an ideal location."
-
"Had a wonderful stay at St Hilda’s, very comfortable and fully equipped house."
Garden was a wee haven for breakfast in the sun and loved all the homely touches including the record, book and games collection. The house is so well situated for town centre, Pannett Park and the beach. Street parking was busy but we found plenty parking at the leisure centre, a few minutes walk from house plus an area to exercise the dog before day trips. Ideal.
-
"Excellent all round, definitely a5 star cottage"
-
"This is a beautiful property, with everything so well thought out."
The furnishings are exceptional. The main bed is very comfortable, and the room so lovely. It is very central, and you can walk everywhere from the house. The owners left several "goodies", which were lovely, and introduced us to the local bakery. It cannot be bettered, but am almost reluctant to say just how wonderful our stay was, as I hope to book again! Many thanks to Sykes who left the keys and parking permits as promised. And the staff are really friendly.
-
"Great central location Quiet Spacious and comfortable We had a great time thank you"
-
"The property is beautifully furnished and maintained."
We really enjoyed our stay, just a couple of niggles really. I hadn't realised that there wasn't a dishwasher but this was my fault, I think you need one when on holiday. The shower was just too small, not very practical. Shame the log burner wasn't in the lounge where you can watch tv. Also there wasn't any toilet roll when we arrived. Overall though a lovely property in a fabulous location.
-
"We loved this property!"
It was comfortable, brilliantly located and so well-equipped. Already planning our return. Thank you so much.
-
"This year this is our second stay in St Hildas and can’t praise it enough."
The staff in your Whitby branch are so helpful and caring I will be recommending them to family and friends as they go the extra mile for their customers. Will certainly be looking again next year. Thankyou to everyone and especially the owners of 20A Back St. Hildas Terrace as the contents and quality of the cottage were superb

"Beautiful house very well presented and very conveniently located for walking into town"

"Our visit to 20a Back St Hilda’s Terrace has been extra special as the house belonged to my grandparents back in the late 1970’s!"
We love coming to Whitby it’s our happy place and very special to us. This particular trip has been been very nostalgic and emotional being able to spend time in this beautiful period house with memories of weekends and holidays spent there as a child and it hasn’t changed much at all. Thank you for a wonderful weekend. We will definitely be coming back soon!
-

"Our holiday at 20a St."
Hilda’s was perfect! It started with a warm welcome when we picked up our keys and the unexpected and treat filled holiday welcome bag . The standard of accommodation and service from Yorkshire Coastal Cottages exceeded our expectations when we first visited in 2018 and was the reason we returned to this accommodation this year. We will see you again next year!
-
