We are a family of 15 who were celebrating our daughters 50th birthday, the house was pretty central to everything the only drawback was the many flights of stairs & the lounge area up a floor from the kitchen , we put the younger members of the family at the top but the stairs to rooms 4,5& 6 proved challenging, we appreciate it’s the layout of the house

I'm sorry that you did not find your stay entirely satisfactory. We updated our photos at the beginning of the year to show some of the stairs to help give a feel of the layout. I hope your celebrations weren't impacted too much. Best wishes Property Owner

  • "Beautiful house which was perfect for our large family get together."

The house is stylishly furnished and extremely well equipped and it’s in a great position close to both the sea and the town centre. The communication with the hosts was excellent and I would highly recommend this property.

  • "Our group of friends had a fantastic time here for the weekend."

What a beautifully kept house and responsive, helpful owners. Lots of bathrooms so no one was on each others toes. We could all (14 of us) come together for meals and games and then comfortably have own space to chill as well. So close to everything, short walk for sea dips both mornings! The house had everything we needed and we were kindly offered permits for the extra parking spaces required (2 provided behind the house), the only downside to the area is finding a spot I would say and that can't be helped. Highly recommend staying here, thanks Nigel and Anna :)

Our hosts were in regular contact leading up to our stay and again afterwards. The welcome pack was a lovely touch. This place has everything you need for a comfortable stay and the location is just a short walk to the main attractions & the beach.

Thank you ,very much for taking the time to review your stay with us . We are so glad your stay was a success, and hopefully you will visit us again in the future . Kind regards Anna and Nigel Renwick Property Owner

  • "A 50th birthday holiday for 15 people aged between 11 and 75."

Thoroughly enjoyed by all. Kitchen well stocked with enough space to cook for all. Enormous dining table so all can sit and eat comfortably. Two lounges upstairs meaning teens and parents can be separate in the evenings. All bedrooms very comfortable with nice linens. There are lots and lots of stairs. Location excellent - only a few steps from West Beach and lovely walk down to Sandsend along the beach. We were blessed with blue skies the entire week. All in all a great week.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Hopefully other people will find it useful . You were great custodians of our holiday home during your stay. You are most welcome to return. Property Owner

  • "I’ve stayed in a lot of properties in Whitby, but this has to be my favourite."

From the moment you arrive you’re aware that you’re somewhere special. The large front door leads into a huge hallway which invites you in. Leading of this was the kitchen and dining room, both rooms large. The dining table is larger than some places that I’ve stayed in Whitby. We had a party of 12 and everyone was very impressed with the house and the rooms they stayed in. When we got ready to go out 12 people had baths or showers. I was the last one and the water was still hot! Hopefully won’t be too long before I return!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It’s lovely to have returning guests, especially when they look after the property so well, as clearly you do . Looking forward to hosting you again . Property Owner

  • "We loved this property."

It was an ideal Xmas house for a large family party. We were all able to participate in preparing Xmas dinner as the kitchen is large and well set out. The house is wonderfully located with easy access to the beach and other Whitby attractions. It has a great view of the Abbey from the front door. The quality of the house added to a great winter holiday in Whitby.

  • "Overall the property was excellent, as described and the location perfect for our needs."

The only small downsides were a) The internet was very poor (low coverage and strength) and this badly affected the TV services and use of our pc's/phones b) the lower ground floor front bedroom was damp All that said our party had an enjoyable stay and would definitely consider rebooking it in the future

  • "We were not able to use the basement bedrooms due to bad smell."

We also found hairs in duvets and in bedsheets! Pros:The location is perfect, short walk to the harbour.

Thank you for your feedback from your stay, which is always valuable. What a shame you didn't get in touch with us at the beginning of you stay about the bad smell. The culprit was a dry shower trap by the back door , and was easily rectified. You will be pleased to hear we managed to get all the crayon marks off the radiator without redecoration. Thank you again for you feedback Property Owner

  • "Our one-week's stay at 6 Abbey Terrace Although we had been warned in advance, more than half our family failed to bring our own towels, which somewhat spoilt our arrival."

We called the house keeper to report that the towel rail in the basement bathroom was not heating, but no action was taken to remedy this, which was disappointing. The sound proofing between the ground floor and the basement needs improving, as wooden floors amplify the noise. On the positive side, the house was spotlessly clean and felt safe. We appreciated the spacious dining-room with the welcome pack, as we did 3 years ago. The kitchen and dishwasher facilities are good for a large self-catering family, as is the availability of crockery and cutlery. On the whole, a positive experience in difficult circumstances.
