  • "Characterful historic property with lovely views and handy for all the attractions, especially the beach!"

Good sized rooms and plenty of storage. The washer/dryer was crucial as there is no outside drying space; the parking space was a bit tight but never unavailable. Many thanks to the owner for stepping up when we had a bit of a crisis! The steps/stairs weren't an issue as we were all adults.

Thank you very much for your review. It was very nice to meet you and your family. It certainly was a pleasure having you as guests in Abbey Visa and would welcome you back at any time. Kind Regards, Hilary Murphy (owner) Property Owner

  • "Abbey Vista never disappoints."

Lovely location, clean and all the facilities that we needed. The double bedroom is exceptionally pleasant to wake up in, swathed in the rising Sun giving it a lovely glow and the most comfortable bed ever. Love Whitby love Abbey Vista. Hilary (owner) is the most pleasant and welcoming host and if there was any problem I know she would do her utmost to rectify it. No problem recommending this property at all. Also brilliant value.

Hi Pat, Thank you for the great review. I am a little disappointed that you marked me down by 19 per cent for cleanliness, comfort and facilities & maintenance. It makes my beautiful apartment sound pretty bad. If you had let me know about any problems I would have righted them straight away. Regards Hilary Property Owner

  • "I hadn't fully understood the amount of stairs up to the property, from how the listing described it."

It was difficult getting in & out with 3 young children every day & the pushchair had to stay in the car wherever it was parked. We had thought the property would be baby friendly as there was a cot & highchair, but there was a rug with turned up corners in the lounge with a glass coffee table in the middle. Every side table also had glass on it, along with a glass kitchen door, glass cupboard either side of the fireplace & a huge glass mirror in the bedroom. We had to rearrange a lot of furniture as soon as we got there to make it safe for a toddler. Having said that, the location was great, beds were comfy & we had everything we needed. I just wouldn't recommend it with toddlers really.

  • "Loved the apartment it was comfortable and well equipped."

Cannot thank Hilary the owner enough for all she did to get us the internet on line again when through no fault of her own it was cut off for 3 days. Not a big deal but there was a couple of areas where the cleaners were lax, the fire and surround was very dusty, there was what looked like a diabetic Epi-pen under the big bed. The toilet seat also in double bedroom en-suite is very wobbly and succeeded in me almost ending up on the floor. None of these things would stop me from rebooking or recommending to friends.

A few minutes to the harbour or shops. Every access involves several sets of stairs. Mobility may be an issue for some.

  • "The location was brilliant but the apartment wasn't very clean when we arrived, especially the carpets."

It was a real home from home and everything was there that we needed including a washer/ dryer and clothes airer. We managed to get parked in one of the spaces belonging to the building (there are only 2 spaces for 4 flats) so didn't use the car and jumped on the bus for a day trip to Scarborough. Lots of pubs/ restaurants within a short walk of this apartment. We had a great week in this apartment!

I am so pleased that you enjoyed staying in Abbey Vista. I am very disappointed that it was not as clean as expected especially the carpets I will try to find out what went wrong and make sure it doesn’t happen again. Hilary Murphy (owner ) Property Owner

We chose to return because the location, view and facilities are very good. The apartment is comfortable and well appointed with such good access to the beach and the town.

  • "We had fallen lucky with the weather and was therefore out and about for most of our stay."

However it was wonderful to return to comfortable clean well equipped apartment, where a hot shower was at hand along with any other home comforts we required. Having a washer/dryer was brilliant as I packed far less knowing I could do a wash. The apartment itself was well situated with the town on the left upon leaving and the beach to the right, only a 5 minute walk either way. Whitby has a lot to offer and we thoroughly enjoyed our week, and would definitely visit again.

  • "Had a fantastic time, the down side is lack of free parking, although parking permits were provided for 4 out of the 7 days that we were there, the accommodation was very nice especially the view of the Abbey from the top bedroom, the main bedroom would benefit from a Black out blind as the sun came up at 4."

30 and illuminated the bedroom making it hard to sleep. There is a lot of stairs to climb for this apartment so anyone with walking difficulties would struggle, but above all else well worth the money, very central to all the amenities, would definitely stay again.

  • "We had a very enjoyable stay at this apartment."

Very comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed. Very quiet considering the central location within the town. Off road parking, a great bonus. One small drawback was the many stairs and steps on gaining access to the apartment, would not suit the physically impaired or extremely old and frail persons, though thankfully did not cause us too many problems.

  • "Everything we needed and wanted for a lovely family holiday."

Loved the selection of games and DVD's which allowed for some fun game nights when it was cold and blowy due to Storm Dennis. The kitchen was well appointed and had everything we needed to cook. The apartment was warm and cosy and very comfortable. The views of the abbey from the attic room were fantastic and the kids enjoyed their stay up there, they also liked purchasing bath bombs and enjoying a soak in the corner bath after all the walking and climbing we did. Hilary met us on arrival which was lovely and we had no issue with car parking as we had the disc and scratch cards. The location of the apartment is perfect too. Had a lovely holiday. Thanks so much.

Location was perfect for west cliff and north beach, kids loved it so much they didn’t want to come home! Would definitely recommended. Only minor issue was parking, the property listing indicates a parking space is available with the property when actually it’s first come first served. We did spend some of the week finding parking spaces on the streets around the flat, although permits were provided so it didn’t cost us anything.

The apartment is well equipped and the beds extremely comfortable. Hilary (owner) was very helpful in securing us a parking spot which also meant we could arrive a little earlier than originally planned. The layout of the apartment is great for the kids as they had their own floor with own tv and bathroom facilities. Only a couple of niggles, there is only a freezer box in the fridge so not much room to store food and due to the parking constraints we didn't dare move the car all week!

Set over the second and third floors of a large townhouse, the apartment is ideal for a family holiday in this ever popular town with some rooms offering views across the town to Whitby Abbey.

On the second floor is the master bedroom with a king-size double bed and an en-suite shower room.

Head up to the third floor to discover a twin bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and a small sitting room with a TV; a wonderful spot to hide away and relax with a good book.

The sitting room is comfortably furnished and the kitchen provides all the facilities you require to cook a tasty meal, however with an array of restaurants and cafes within walking distance, you may never even turn the cooker on!

Abbey Vista lies on the west side of the town which is home to many fine Georgian houses which were built during Whitby's prosperous era when the town's fortune depended entirely on the sea.

Head across the river to the picturesque old town with a myriad of red roofs and alleyways once home to the fishermen.

The Whalebone Arch and bronze statue commemorating WhitbyÂ’s most famous explorer Captain Cook, stand proudly on the West Cliff.

Take the 199 steps up to the famous Abbey, or spend a day on the beach as you watch the fishing boats come and go.

A lovely apartment in the centre of Whitby which will live long in the memory.
