The bath/shower was difficult to get in and out of. There are a number of "trip hazards" - loose mats and plinth for kitchen area. Very rare to go to a holiday place where there are no books, games etc available. However, all in all it is a warm and comfortable cottage and its position is wonderful.

. The cottage was spotless and equipped with everything we needed. Enjoyed see the old steam train go past our window, although it’s on trainline it’s extremely peaceful and we slept like logs. Just a few minutes walk to all local amenities. Lots of lovely places to eat although recommend booking table at busy times. Lovely walk to ruswarp along the train tracks with a pub or cafe at the end. Cottage comes with a parking space :) Lots of places to walk to or short drives e.g Robin Hood Bay, Saltburn on sea and Goathland were our favourites . Highly recommend and the welcome pack and flowers a lovely touch

The cottage was clean and the facilities wonderful especially the nice surprise of a dishwasher which is not listed on the facilities. A lovely welcome pack with fresh flowers tea coffee and sugar and a bottle of wine. A nespresso machine is a nice touch although we didn't use it much as we like strong black coffee. We would definitely recommend Crossing Cottage for couples although it may not be one for families as there is only one double and one single room. We will certainly look at staying again on our next visit to Whitby.

  • "Excellent cottage in a great location."

The decor and furnishings are all first rate, little extras such as tea bags, milk, sugar etc were all supplied and a big plus is the allocated parking. It's close to the town but far enough away to be nice and quiet, there are trains passing the door but only 5/6 services a day so even if trains are not your thing there's not enough of them to be a problem. Tip: For a "real" chip shop try the Railway Chippy, in a row of terraces up the hill from the cottage, good value and great quality - and eating them in the cottage overlooking the harbour is hard to beat!
