Would definitely recommend to family and friends. Only minor points, was the parking was confusing and a nightmare to get anywhere near the cottage. WiFi was very hit and miss, more miss than hit and smoke alarm in the on suite Bedroom had been removed for some strange reason. Aside from the minor issues we had a lovely stay. Reviewed by DennisJun 2022 "Excellent property, we have stayed here several times and indeed are booked in again for next year We did miss the extractor working (we dont remember it ever working) in the kitchen, but a very minor problem , however as we checked in at 4." 00 pm someone had the heating set at 30 degrees, it took until aprox 2.00am in the morning for the place to cool down! Reviewed by PeterNov 2021 "I will be pursuing the matter further as paying Sykes over £900 for this standard of accomodation is not acceptable." I've been sent a voucher for £40 off my next booking in the post which, frankly, is an insult after this holiday experience. When we arrived, the house was not clean; we had to open windows to be rid of the pervasive odour; had to vacuum; wash towels and dishes after a five hour journey and this included running the dishwasher which had been left full of dirty dishes. The kitchen was woefully under equipped; pans and frying pan with scratched non-stick coating rendering them unusuable, two knives, one of which had the tip snapped off and the other was blunt, far too few plates and glasses for a house that sleeps six. The fridge froze everything we put in it - we checked the setting which was correct, and noted a review from November 2018 that stated the fridge did not work then, almost a year ago. We stayed over the August bank holiday and not being able to store food in the hot weather made things very difficult. The gripper bars in the kitchen were exposed and my daughter badly scratched her feet on them. The dining room table was dangerously unstable and we were unable to use it at all, it felt like it could collapse at any time and has obviously been repaired many times. The window in the back bedroom is jammed - when trying to open, it flew wide open suddenly. This is so dangerous given this is marketed as a family property; none of the windows have limiters and can be opened wide despite this being a three floor property. The en-suite in the master bedroom has a shower head that does not stay up for long enough to shower without being held in place, and the tray doesn't drain adequately so after 30 seconds or so the shower has to be turned off, resuming only when the tray has drained. It was also mouldy. This property says it has wi-fi but functionally, it does not. The router is non-existent, we assume it is shared between all the holiday properties on the small street and we could not connect with enough bandwidth to send a simple email. As the 4G coverage in the area isn't good, and my partner has to check work emails daily, this meant that my partner had to cut short our only family holiday of the year and go home on Tuesday, leaving the rest of us in the cottage until Thursday when we finally gave up and went home. At best, we had three days of accommodation we could only sleep in. The entire property could be lovely but as is, feels very tired and not to the standard we booked. I'm not sure if the owners are not local and have not checked their property in the last year - in which case they need more reliable caretakers - or if they simply don't care. Perfectly situated near to amenities yet just tucked away from any hustle and bustle. There is a pay and display car park just past the Cottage entrance archway down the road on the left for quick drop off of cases and bags if the W areas car parking spaces are full ( scratch card ).The West Cliff car parking permit was very much appreciated and we were able to leave our vehicle parked there for the week, Everything ( bedding and towels ) lovely and clean and the crockery, cutlery pots and pans are plentiful. The fridge thermostat must be a little keen as it does freeze some of the things put into it. The showers are really good, the 1st floor one is a bit splashy onto the window sill and as the plastic door plastic guard doesn't fit quite flush, the water can go onto the floor but easily wiped up. The above being said we had a wonderful time and were very comfortable. Thank you very much. Reviewed by DeniseMay 2019 "This is our 3rd yeah staying at this property." It is always clean and well presented. Now has WiFi. Great location. One small thing was that even though the fridge setting was at its lowest and couldn’t be turned now anymore it was freezing our food. Wouldn't hesitate to book again. Reviewed by TroySep 2018 "The cottage (Curlew) itself was ok but the parking facilities were a headache." The scratch cards for parking close to the cottage would have been ideal but it was very rare for a space to park. The the permit for the alternative parking at West Cliff saved money but the car park was at least a five minute walk away from the cottage (my wife & I are 82 & 83 respectively) and we had to carry any items from the car to the cottage, which was a bit of a drag when we had been shopping. Reviewed by FredSep 2018 "The location is very good." Cleaning was adequate - a few items found under and down side of sofas. Little things spoiled the cottage - insufficient dishwasher tablets, no kitchen towel either paper or towelling and the shower screen didn’t do it’s job. Would be useful to have a second door key too. Reviewed by JudithMar 2018 "Disappointed with parking permits got 2 permits each last 4 days,we were there for 14 days ."
