Some beds very creaky (top floor) and lacking clothes storage. Also lack of waste disposal - bins not big enough for amount of waste for 12 people and had to take some empty bottles etc. home with us. Lots of steps (expected from the description and not an issue for us but would be a problem if you have access problems). Also needed to buy handwash for bathrooms. Nice warm house with loads of hot water and some character too. The location was so good you can just park your car up in the public car park close by (free in Winter) and leave it there. Parking permits were available to park in road but this was quite busy.

The property

This impressive, mid-terrace Victorian property is centrally situated in the popular coastal town of Whitby.

Lovingly renovated to a high standard, retaining original fireplaces, this wonderful holiday home is perfect for large family groups to enjoy time together in a traditional seaside resort, within close proximity to the stunning scenery of the North York Moors.

Set over four floors, the rooms have been individually styled in keeping with the era of the property, with some French inspired furniture in the bedrooms.

Two of the bedrooms enjoy en-suite facilities and there is also a Victorian-style bathroom on the second floor with a freestanding bath, and a shower room also on the second floor.

From the top bedrooms are fine views over the rooftops across the whole of Whitby, to the beautiful site of Whitby Abbey and the sea.

The traditional, charming kitchen is well equipped, with an American-style fridge/freezer, a superb duck egg blue range cooker and a farmhouse table down the middle.

There is a separate dining room, which offers additional comfy seating; a very sociable area in which to linger and chat over a family meal.

The dining room also has a decorative fireplace and ample seating around the dining table for 15, meaning your whole party can enjoy celebrating together, and there is also a serving hatch from the kitchen for added convenience.

The main sitting room with decorative fireplace is on the first floor, with squashy, comfortable sofas.

Outside, to the front, is a small enclosed patio garden, a sheltered sun-trap that is perfect for a morning coffee.

A couple of minutes’ walk brings you into the hub of this historic town, with an excellent choice of restaurants, pubs, tea rooms and delicious fish and chips!

Wander through the quaint, cobbled narrow streets and ginnels, climb the 199 steps up to Whitby Abbey, or visit Captain Cook's museum, just over the swing bridge.

The long, sandy beaches are perfect for the children, with brightly painted beach huts, donkey rides and beachside cafes.

There are a wealth of attractions in the immediate area, including a trip on the steam railway at Grosmont, exhilarating cliff top walks and the pretty fishing villages of Robin Hood's Bay, Staithes and Runswick Bay to visit.

With so much to offer, Hidden Treasure provides the perfect base for a very memorable holiday.
