  • "Great communications from the owner."

We really enjoyed our stay at the Nutshell. Its in a very convenient location and the parking permit was an added bonus. Everything that we needed was there. No WiFi but I had plenty of signal so no issue at all. Perfect for a couple looking for a central location. Our first time to Whitby and we really enjoyed it. Definitely would return to Whitby and the Nutshell.

Thanks Adrian We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay at Nutshell and we hope you return in the future. Property Owner

  • "Several issues."

Cleaners still on site at check in. Had to wait around for them to finish, not great after a 6 and a half hour drive. No toilet paper available. Mouldy shower curtain. No WI FI. Scruffy and dirty outside space, stairs to property covered in weeds, dirt and butt ends plus an active wasp nest about 2 ft from front door on adjacent property making sitting outside on the small verandah impossible, owner said he was aware of this!!! Positives, good location to all amenities and car park permit to West Cliff, a bit of a walk but ok.

Thanks for your feedback as this enables us to ensure high standards are met. I have spoken to the owner of the cleaning company who explained that very occasionally cleaning takes longer due to the extensive cleaning required by coronavirus rules. A toilet roll should have been left and I apologise for this being missed. The shower curtain has now being replaced. As regards lack of WIFI, the property description states that WIFI is not available. The outside space has now been cleaned. Moving forward as well as the regular checks that take place, the cleaner will inform immediately if anything needs attention in between my visits. With regards to the wasps nest in the adjacent property, I have spoken to the owner who has assured me this will be removed as a matter of urgency. On arrival I always ask guests to let me now as soon as possible if anything needs addressing at the property as I will always look to resolve issues during their stay. Property Owner

  • "Andy the owner of Nutshell was brilliant and so very friendly and welcoming."

We spoke with him before the holiday and he took time to explain all about Nutshell and the surrounding area recommending places to visit. He also rang on the day we arrived to check everything was OK and the day before we departed to see how our stay had been. Staying at Nutshell was just lovely from start to finish, what a quirky and unusual place, the nautical / seaside theme was relaxing and welcoming. Loved the mezzanie where you could open the curtains in a morning and look out the window and sit in bed with a cup of tea and then have breakfast afterwards sat outside overlooking the church and street at the little table and chair set - perfect start to the day people watching. Really very lovely, tucked away in a quiet location and yet a stones throw from everything Whitby has to offer. Would highly recommend.

  • "The smell of the musty shut up apartment was overwhelming on entering I stood not really wanting to go any further I did not want to eat due to the smell I sat at the table and cried and really wanted to go home."

After a few days of airing and buying a spray it is has now become acceptable. The showers unit needs attendance window and seals dirty. Table covers were dirty which I had to clean also. Tiles in bathroom I had to clean. Not the standard I was expecting. Would not stay again or recommend

Thanks for your comments. The musty smell may be due to the cleaners having to leave the radiator on in the shower room to allow it to dry out from the previous occupants. This may also have resulted in the floor tiles being marked if water has run down the wet wall. I have sent your comments to the head of the cleaning company regards the shower unit, table covers and window sill/seal and these will be addressed to ensure our usual high standards of cleaning on customer reviews are met. • "A perfect little place for 2 people in the centre of town but not in a noisy area."

The little outside sitting area is ideal for catching the sun after a busy day exploring Whitby. The kitchen has everything you need and the bed is comfortable. It wouldn’t be suitable for people with mobility issues due to the steps to the property but for us it was perfect. The car parking is less than a 10 minute walk away and safe to leave your car. I would certainly stay again on our next return to wonderful Whitby

The owner was extremely helpful before the holiday, providing us with information & directions & the apartment was warm & comfortable and very central The designated car park was a little far away for us as my husband has a slight disability & it is right at the top of the town but apart from that, we enjoyed our stay very much.

The place itself is very comfy, clean and a really imaginative and efficient use of the space. The owner could not have been more friendly or helpful. For a couple or lone traveller you'd have to go some to beat the Nutshell as a base for exploring this lovely and fascinating town.

The fridge handle was broken as was one of the cupboard door handle. Also the patio was in need of a clean. On the plus side it is a nice quirky cottage and very handy for amenities.

Thanks for your comments. The shower curtain has been replaced and the paneling joints cleaned. All the kitchen handles have been replaced. The patio has been cleaned. On first contact with all guests we do ask to let us know if anything needs addressing and we will endeavour to put things right during their visit if we had been made aware of it during your stay we would have been happy to address these issues for you.
