“Lovely Large House”
We stayed in Roseberry House for the weekend in April. We were a group of 9, with no youngsters. We found the house to be perfect for us. Lots of space, in a quirky layout meant we could rove around with out getting in each others' way. The bedrooms were spacious and quiet. Even if the others were still up, not a sound disturbed anyone who had retired for the night! 2 great sitting rooms - each with a big flat screen tv would be ideal for a group with teenagers (there's wifi for them too) but we all fitted in both perfectly, so just had to choose which one we felt like sitting in.
Everything was clean and well cared for. Don't be intimidated by the warnings on the macerator bathrooms - just use a bit of common sense and it's all fine.
If you had young children with you, prams and strollers etc. could be parked in the utility room out of the way - also, a good place for wet wellies or buckets and spades if needs be! And there's a little sunny courtyard at the back for buckets of shells or other beach finds.
We didn't do much in the way of "self catering" - but if you were inclined to use the range stove, we're sure you would find every thing you would need. It's in a great location for "down town" Whitby, so eating out is very easy, just a stroll to the harbourside places and a great tea/coffee shop at the bottom of the street.
Parking is not really an issue as there are 3 dedicated parking places just over the road, but the house is in such a fab location, we did not use our cars during our stay.
All in all this is a great house for large groups of any combination. You can split up into smaller groups if you want to, or stay together in the lounges. There are various configurations of doubles and twins to accommodate a wide range of combinations of families, friends, couples and children. It's handy for everything and won't break the bank. A top house and we would not hesitate to return.
