  • "What a lovely little place."

Ideal for a couple but winding stairs may be awkward for some. Handy on site parking area and of course ina Beautiful town. I understand this may be withdrawn from letting at the end of 2024. That is a shame as I would probably have booked this one again. Book it while you can. It was a Goth Weekend when we stayed and the town was very busy.

  • "Beautiful little house very cozy, lovely comfortable bed."

the property itself was extremely clean and well maintained to a high standard. Nice walks along the coastal path, about a 20 min walk to the centre of Whitby. Overall a lovely stay.

  • "Absolutely perfect little holiday home!"

Beautifully decorated to a high standard with all you need for a great stay. Easy access to the sea and walk into Whitby for the shops, train station and the stunning Abbey. Just a little niggle would be the garden. We have two large dogs and the only secure part is a small square outside the back door . The pictures of the property made me think the garden was much bigger.. it didn’t spoil our stay in this lovely property but I think better pictures to reflect the actual size of the secure part would be great.

It’s more to the north side of Whitby but the coastal walks were spectacular would recommend this quirky little house.

  • "We initially found the dark (but stylish) coloured walls in the sitting room , stairwell and bedroom overwhelming, but after a couple of days, we no longer noticed them and settled into the comfort and cosiness of the house."

It was wonderful to walk into a scrupulously clean house. The kitchen was well equipped, including booklets for the cooker, etc. and we felt our needs were paramount when we found that 3 cupboards had been set aside for our use. Everything possible was done to make us feel welcome. The location was perfect ; we were close enough to the town centre to be able to walk in, but far enough away that we had no noise. Having our own off street parking was a real bonus. This is a lovely place to stay.

  • "We agree with another review that a handrail for the staircase is needed."

Also that a blind or curtain to cover the kitchen door would be a useful addition to increase privacy.

  • "Absolutley wonderful little hideaway."

Off-road parking for a good-sized car (my Octavia had no problems), well-equipped, modern and very clean kitchen, with all the utensils, pots, pans, glassware and crockery you need. Lovely, cozy & comfortable living area with some clever & quirky decoration and a high-spec smart TV - the presence of an HDMI cable to plug your laptop into is a very nice touch. Upstairs is a modern and very nicely-finished bathroom, and a comfortable and welcoming bedroom with plenty of storage space and a lovely big bed. The house is in a very quiet spot, and the little enclosed patio to the rear is a real afternoon sun-trap. The inclusion of a sewing kit and even a small toolkiit for emergencies in the kitchen was a nice touch. I mentioned how clean the place was, as we often arrive at self-catering properties and feel like we need to clean everything before we can settle in, but there was no need for this here - absolutely spotless everywhere! The location is excellent, especially for pet owners. You are close to the coastal path if walking is your thing, it's a short walk to the whalebone arch and the centre of Whitby. For excercising pets, the main park (with bowling green, pitch & putt and open grassland) is also just a short walk away, but even closer is the park between the houses, created where the coastal railway used to run & accessed from the next cul-de-sac along - ideal if your pup (like ours) needs a toilet break. There's a Costcutter nearby, open 7am to 7pm, as well as a chinese takeaway & a pizza place if you want something simple when you arrive, and a vet's surgery for emergencies. There's also a Lidl, Spar and Butcher's a few minutes walk / drive away, and it's a short drive to the Sainsbury's on the other side of Whitby. It's easy to get to - no need to drive through the busy centre of Whitby to find it, but it's close enough to make a visit on-foot to the excellent pubs, restaurants and shops in Whitby easy, and the Abbey is a short walk further on from there. There's really very little to fault about this place, and if we can, we'll be booking another visit in the future.

  • "Garden area for dog use tiny and front very untidy."

Clean on first glance but last dogs hair present and loads of cobwebs. Bath too small to relax in you have to sit to attention. Very good location with VERY friendly neighbours, quirky decor ok in summer must be dark in winter. Overall a good break.

  • "We enjoyed our stay thoroughly."

It was just like a hone from home. Loved all the little quirky bits. Much appreciated by our dog Buddy having treats thrown in. Only one thing we thought is perhaps a blind on the kitchen door as would give more privacy first thing in the morning. Otherwise, loved the colour scheme. The bathroom was lovely. Will definitely stay again if we come to Whitby again.

  • "Walked in the property, initial thoughts great."

Then,in the living room a large chair and footstool which took up too much room. The stairs very steep,no handrail.Bathroom great and so was the bedroom. We unpacked the food and was shocked to find the freezer box in the fridge had not been defrosted in months, luckily there was a separate freezer. For the first few days we didn't use the oven, but come the day we need it,we couldn't get it to work. When an electrician came he read the user manual, then after awhile of scratching his head, realised someone had been messing about with the settings and activated the child lock. Then if that wasn't bad enough, when I looked down to the front garden I saw a wooden container with flowers in and it was also covered with CAT pooh. Our holiday was not spoil too much by these negatives, but was clear to us the property had not been checked after the last occupants.

  • "Fabulous little house, perfect spot as not far from the clifftop walk overlooking the sea and only about a 20 minute walk down into Whitby."

Very comfortable bed and the kitchen had everything I needed. I was out and about all day so didn't really use the lounge area. The parking is a little tricky as you have to do a 3 point turn in the little road as its a cul de sac. Very nice quiet area. I do think as I think someone mentioned before that the very steep stairs could do with a hand rail. I always take my own bed linen and pillow as I'm fussy about pure cotton! But I'm also glad I did as I would have found the charcoal grey linen a bit depressing! The latch on tge back gate that I used all the time needs addressing as you need two hands to close it. Re the booking, I had so many emails that I tended to not read them all and nearly missed that there had been a key code change just a few days before I went, that I think should have been sent in a highlighted email. A shame too to now be bombarded with emails offering me money off my next holiday...would have been nice to have money off this one! Having said all that I had the most wonderful time in Whitby and look firward to maybe visiting again next year and would most certainly stay at the same little house.

  • "My sister and I had a lovely week in the Little Corner House and Whitby."

We are both 70 + and had a few minor niggles, the first of which was accessing the key box. It's not easy getting up from floor level. No. 2, no stair rail to hold while going downstairs, and No. 3 no non slip mat in the bath. I must stress these were niggles in relation to our age and abilities and in no way affected our enjoyment of the house, we loved it. We bought a mat for the bath, became more confident on the stairs and only had to access the key box once. We would certainly stay there again and highly recommend the property.

It was clean and comfortable. It was nice to have the complementary snacks and toiletries. It was also nice to have towels, mats and toys provided for our little cockapoo. All the appliances were in excellent condition and were easy to use. Staying in February meant that we had to use the central heating which kept the place nice and warm. The house is tastefully decorated with interesting ornaments and decorations. Having off street parking is a bonus. The property is situated in a nice, quiet area, but only 15 minutes walk from the town centre. We know Whitby well and will be returning later in the year. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Little Corner house again.

  • "Pros - very comfy bed & warm house."

Good kitchen facilities. Complimentary items appreciated. The dog was made very welcome with blankets, toys & treats. Clean & hospitable accommodation. Cons - much smaller than we expected. Decor too dark which made it claustrophobic. Lighting in lounge & bedroom very dim. They need at least one bright light when it's long, dark nights in winter. The key safe needs to be in a more accessible & easy to find place. The housekeeper had to let us in on arrival & contact the owner for instructions for its location. The housekeeper was very helpful & lovely when we arrived in the dark & couldn't get in. The house is quirky which is fine but I didn't like the large metal tarantula on the lounge wall. Not great for people who don't like spiders. Parking is tricky to get into.
