  • "Excellent location, collection of surfing magazines unparalleled."

Low lintel came with warning signs that were not always effective. Would definitely recommend to a shorter holidaymaker.

  • "Absolutely amazing from the original lady that found us this booking over the phone but we had to phone when we arrived at the property the lady we spoke to then was of no help at all we actually rang the owner to get the help we needed when we were promised a call back from the company still waiting might I add very unprofessional !"

We had a few issues with our stay but overall enjoyed our much needed break.

  • "We had a good week in Whitby."

The flat was right in the centre of the town. The listing really should let people know though that the closest parking is a car park 5 mins walk away (important if arriving late in the evening with small children) - there is no where to park to unload the car. The flat wasn’t as clean as it could be. There were only 2 towels (and one was dirty) left for us when we had booked for 4 people - not sure if that information is forwarded from Sykes? The flat shouldn’t be listed for 4 really - way too small for 4 people. The sofa bed doesn’t sleep 2 (and in my opinion wasn’t comfortable at all - came home with a bad back and didn’t get a good nights sleep all week). We’ve stayed in other Sykes properties, paid less and got a lot more for our money (like a nice small welcome pack, information about the property and town - there was nothing like this). Also the TV only worked if you watched BBC 1 and 2.

Lovely flat but had problems with tv also lots of road noise & people noise but I am led to believe that lot busier in whitby due to covid and busier than normal as people couldn’t go abroad

  • "The apartment was decorated nice and equipped with everything you need however the doors where small and that caused problems with my husbands height and banging his head."

I did have to clean as it was dirty in places I don’t think it had been done prior. The bed needs replacing as it was soft and uncomfortable. It was very expensive for what it was. It was in a great location and well presented.

Thank you for your feedback. Your comments regarding the cleaning are unfounded, the property was cleaned prior to your arrival as it is before every guest arrival, the owner has photos from the housekeeper showing this had been done. Comfort of beds and mattresses is subjective, we are sorry the bed was not to your taste. Property Owner

  • "1. There was no toilet roll on arrival."

This is an essential after a long journey so we have to rush out to buy some! 2. The sofa bed was VERY uncomfortable (and would not sleep 2 people which luckily was not needed for us). 3. We have a total power cut for at least 9.5hrs (maybe longer) between 5pm to 2.30am so: we lost perishable food from the fridge (which we had to discard), and we could not shower/change after a long day hiking. We spent at least 1 hour on the telephone to the property owner why told us to complain to the energy supplier for lost time/lost food/inconvenience.

  • "A lovely place but not quite as clean as I would have expected in the current climate - we moved the sofa and there was an old receipt and a multitude of crumbs underneath and there was long hairs in the bedroom draws."

The kitchen had a frying pan that had been used and just put away without being washed, saying that the kitchen is really lovely. Also I think the listing should state that the height of the door frames are quite low. My boyfriend is 6ft 3 and hit his head a number of times - we wouldn't have booked here if the listing had mentioned it as were avoiding cottages for that reason.

busy road , long stay carpark should be mentioned also. Its a lot nearer to centre of Whitby , pubs , restaurants, fish and chips etc than i think you describe , big selling point this beef it up !!

  • "Lovely apartment, comfortable and beautifully decorated."

Spotlessly clean. Very close to Whitby centre and all pubs/shops. The apartment would benefit from some extra pans and utensils in the kitchen. I stayed over Xmas and realised I had to cook Xmas dinner with only a small milk pan, and very few utensils like a potato masher or larger knives.

Close to the centre. No parking but we parked at the station. Use the mobile app as it was cheaper....£8 for 24hr.
