“Lovely house in a great location.”

Easy walking distance into the town centre. Wonderful having two parking spaces - and a play area in front for our 4 year old! Whitby is a lovely place and good centre to discover the area from. We would love to come back and would definitely stay at this property again.

The property

Modern four bedroom townhouse on the east side of Whitby in the peaceful Whitehall Landing development.

Situated just ten minutes’ walk from Whitby’s picturesque ‘old town’, Tortuga House is well located for discovering the sights and soaking up the atmosphere of this historic fishing port.

With views across to the marina, steam trains and towards Whitby Abbey, a stay here will really whet your appetite for discovery.

With this in mind, there are two car parking spaces – a bonus given its central location – and a private mooring, should you wish to bring your boat.

Adventure awaits! The house itself is spacious, with plenty of room for families and couples to feel at home.

Its lovely nautical theme décor is complemented by quality furnishings.

For holiday rest and relaxation, a conservatory leads onto a pretty garden patio area with furniture and BBQ. Step inside the entrance hall and from here discover a ground floor double bedroom with accents of blue and white – a theme which continues throughout.

There is a snug with comfortable seating, a utility room with washer/dryer and a fridge with small freezer, plus cloakroom.

The conservatory has white rattan furniture to seat five people and overlooks the enclosed garden – it’s a tranquil place to enjoy a cuppa as you read the morning papers. On the first floor is a sunny sitting room with comfortable sofas and a Smart TV, DVD and CD player.

The contemporary white kitchen is fully-equipped with oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher.

Gather together at the dining area for mealtimes, or to keep the cook company.

This floor also has a smart family bathroom with a bath, shower over, basin and WC. The second floor has a superb master bedroom with king-size bed and en-suite shower room, with shower, basin and WC.

There are also two lovely twin bedrooms which each have full size Captain beds, with a single pull-out bed. From the light-drenched conservatory, step out onto the patio which gets the sun all day in summer.

There’s a BBQ, picnic bench and table with chairs – what could be nicer than relaxing here with a glass of something chilled after a day’s fresh air and fun at the beach? Tortuga House is a pleasant 10-15 minutes walk to the famous ‘199 Steps’ that lead to the Abbey grounds.

Follow the river Esk as it heads out to sea, on your way you’ll pass Captain Cook’s Memorial Museum, where you can learn more about the great explorer whose apprenticeship began here, in Whitby.

For those with an interest in all things maritime, don’t forget to pop into the RNLI museum on your way to the beach.

The historic swing bridge lets you cross to the Marina, supermarket, train station and a number of outstanding restaurants, wine bars and pubs. The heritage coast is peppered with picturesque fishing villages, such as Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hood’s Bay, and there’s some fabulous coastal walking paths.

Further afield, bird-lovers will enjoy a trip to the RSPB Bempton Cliffs Reserve, where more than half a million seabirds, including puffins, nest into the cliffs every year. Tortuga House is an idyllic place for families and friends to make some great holiday memories.
