"Absolutely fantastic, everything is just perfect."
The garden isn't dog friendly as there is no fencing to keep them in, and the outside lights need new bulbs, having a little Chihuahua I needed to follow her with a torch.
Apart from that, this place is superb and I would highly recommend it, we will be booking again soon.

The DVD player does not link to the TV and an instruction booklet for the TV would have been helpful.

"Granville Lodge is a nice big holiday cottage in a quiet location however a welcome pack would be nice giving information on local sites, recommendations, emergency details and which bins to use."
Lots of flies in kitchen apparently because of harvest but a room with lots of flies is not good.

"There was a sewage smell in the backgarden when you opened the utility room."
Think previous people had used the council bins incorrectly as they were not emptied.( maybe owner could clarify which bins are used for different products). Tv seemed to have very poor reception, and channel choice. The children loved the large garden, and the freedom. large lounge was perfect for family time. All the rooms were good sizes. Would recommend to friends.

"The photos aren't representative - new flooring throughout and looks much brighter than the photos show."
A few minor (very picky) criticisms - the travel cot didn't work but high chair was fine. Previous occupants had filled the bins with mixed rubbish, and they didn't get emptied - perhaps some information on which bins are landfill/recyling, and any instructions for when and where to put them out on collection day would be useful. The TV signal wasn't great and there was no HDMI port (only SCART). There was a DVD player but the remote didn't match up (e.g. pressing 'play' sent you to the main menu). The internet was good enough to stream Netflix etc.
Otherwise the cottage was fantastic, lots of space for 6 adults and a toddler, kitchen one of the best equipped we have had for a self catered let but a larger fridge would be useful. Property was clean and tidy when we arrived.

"A very clean, large and roomy holiday cottage, recently redecorated and with an extremely well equipped kitchen and utility room."
Wonderful views across the Wolds and a quiet location with lots of beautiful places locally to explore and to eat out. The owners are very friendly and helpful, and a gas barbecue was provided so we could eat outside during the very hot weather. As a previous reviewer has noted though, the back garden is not enclosed and families with small children will need to watch them at all times, while owners of dogs will need to bring a stake and long lead to keep their pet safe while staying at the cottage.

"Extremely spacious and comfortable holiday home."
Points to note:
- Gorgeous views from the dining room and kitchen.
- The listing photos are out of date, the 'busy' carpets have been replaced with much nicer flooring.
- The beds were all very comfortable, however there are no king size/super king size beds - they are all just doubles.
- The garden is not properly enclosed - so dogs need to be supervised when in the garden.
- The TV didn't work very well at all.
- The DVD player didn't work either - we eventually managed to use it, but the remote control was not the correct one for the DVD player.
- Lots of blown light bulbs.
- Although there were a few clocks in the property, none of them showed the correct time.
- One of the bedside lights in one of the bedrooms was not plugged in as the cable was not long enough to reach the plug point - a simple extension lead would correct this.
- Couldn't find a butter dish, ice cream scoop or pizza cutter in the kitchen.

My reply recommendation for improvement would be you need more than 1 bin in the house, there are pedal bins in the toilets.

"The cottage was lovely and plenty of room in all the rooms."
The kitchen equipment needs improving, there were no steak knives, the knives they had weren't very sharp. The frying pans were terrible, everything stuck to them. Some of the handles on the doors were loose. The photos on the website need updating, they don't do it just. Apart from that, we really enjoyed our stay.

"My family and I had a brilliant time at granville cottage, loads of space for the children and dogs to run about."
Its was lovely and clean with brand new carpet and furniture and they have thought of everything, even a stair gate! I cant remember if it said garden was enclosed when booking but I can confirm it's not but we just used a spike and long lead for the dogs so it wasnt a issue. There is a huge field behind the house which is handy for dog walking. Will definitely be back

"Very spacious bungalow in tranquil surroundings."
Comfortable mattresses, spotless white bedding and towels.
Plenty of room for the teenagers in the party to find privacy.
Along with every other holiday let I've taken there wasn't a sharp knife for food preparation and I'd forgotten to take one.
Had the weather been poor there was nothing to occupy us other than TV but we had taken games and books and electronic gubbins.
Excellent walking country, highly recommend Millington, Millington Woods and the Ramblers Rest.
Pocklington on the doorstep with Aldi and Sainsburys (plus ATM) on opposite sides of the same road. !00 yds away is the entrance to Burnby Hall Gardens, popular with grandparents of small children and the disabled.

The bungalow was perfect for our disabled relative. Super garden for exercising the dog (although not secure). Lovely peaceful spot and easy access to town and amenities. Perhaps a waste bin in each room? Missed having a visitors' book to write in and read other's recommendations eg of meals out etc.
We hope to come again. Loved the place.

"Listing said "pub/shop < 1 mile" but the nearest was 2-3 miles away - it may be that facilities that were closer have now closed and the listing is out of date."
There were plenty of tourist information leaflets but some information about local facilities would have helped. We had to look up what could be put in the bins on the council website. The property was lacking a few items: Glasses provided were fine for wine or spirits - but some bigger glasses for squash or beer would be nice. There was a roasting tin provided but no baking trays - this made cooking in the oven a bit awkward. There was only one bin in the property apart from the main one in the kitchen - some more would have been handy.
Despite all of the above we enjoyed a lovely stay in a beautiful spacious property.

"The peace and quiet of this lovely, well-maintained and very clean bungalow cannot be overstated."
Excellent value for money. Our only suggestions for improvement would be for a radio and a hairdryer to be provided. The exceptional weather meant that most times the tv had no signal, which is why a conventional radio (not digital) would have been very useful. There were three different coloured wheelie bins outside, but no information on which one was for which type of refuse (these vary from one local authority to another). Otherwise, perfect, and we will be recommending the property to friends.

"The cottage is enormous with lots of parking and very quiet in a rural location."
The kitchen is well equipped. It is fairly close to York and Hull so they are good day trips. There is a Sainsbury's in nearby Pocklington but no pubs in the village itself. I would recommend it. It would benefit from some information for the guests about the local area, how the TV works, which outside bins to use for the garbage but apart from this an excellent stay.
