“Excellent location with easy bus route to York and the ring road.”
Very roomy place. We were met with a warm welcome from the owner who have us info on the local area.

“The bungalow was great, comfortable with lots of facilities and the owner lived nearby should he be needed.”
It was situated in a lovely area including easy access by regular bus to York. We were able to visit some fabulous places in the surrounding area and look forward to another holiday there.
“This holiday was by far our family favourite so far!”
Everything about this holiday was simply amazing. On arrival we were greeted by Mike who was lovely and able to provide an abundance of knowledge and recommendations for our visit. He recommended car parks, restaurants and much more and to add the cherry on the top we also received a little hamper which was such a lovely touch. The bungalow was spacious for our family of four and the garden was wonderful for evening drinks and refreshments once the children had gone to bed. York was fabulous and as were the food places we opted to dine in and all of this literally a few miles down the road. The location of this bungalow was what initially attracted us to this when we commenced with our search and it most certainly did not disappoint us. My family and I would like to thank Mike for our stay and we most definitely will be looking to book here again in the near future.
“Very warm welcome from our host, Mike.”
Extremely helpful regarding places to visit and things to do. Very well equipped, clean and comfortable accommodation. Very quiet location, with good access to shops, The Dales and the Moors, and York City Centre via the No.1 bus. This was our second visit to this property, good health willing there will be a third.
“A fantastic holiday in a wonderfully peaceful, quiet and well equipt property.”
It was lovely to be able to return to Micklegarth at the end of a busy day and take advantage of the lovely garden. The proximity to York and the frequent bus service made it ideal for the usual 'must sees' and avoided the parking charges! We were greeted by Mike, the owner, and actually shown round the property... so much nicer than being told where the key is and to let yourself in!. The personal touch is very much appreciated, as was the 'goodie basket'. Those temperature and ice cold lemonade was just the ticket! A great holiday Thank you Mike.
“This is a perfect location to reach everywhere we needed to whilst staying in York.”
Quaint and rural, the bungalow met our needs, albeit it was better than we expected for such a small home. Our children enjoyed it, they managed to feed the many different birds that visited and we even got to see hot air balloons during a nice clear day, which was a treat. There’s so much to see in York and I think we just about exhaust the museums and parks. We will be back. Thanks for a lovely stay.
“Great location, good sized accommodation & well equipped, lovely garden”
“I was so pleased with this lovely cottage, a home from home in a quiet street.”
I would recommend this highly as a great place to stay.
“The cottage is in an ideal place with access to York by bus around the corner.”
It is spacious and comfortable with everything you need when you are away from home. The heating is on permanently and this makes the cottage cosy at all times. Even though it was really cold when we were there, there were birds and squirrels around in the garden which were really enjoyable to watch. Mike, the owner, was available at all times for questions and we were surprised and delighted to fin a welcome basket of goodies to enjoy during our stay. We will definitely be booking this property again.
“Me and my boyfriend enjoyed our stay in this cottage during January.”
The cottage itself was clean, tidy and had all the facilities we needed. It's situated only a few minutes walk from the bus stop that takes you directly into York. This meant we could avoid the expensive parking fees and head into York a little bit later in the day. Having stayed in January I can say that the heating is great and was on a timer. We didn't need to put the heating on any extra and felt perfectly warm even on some days when we stayed inside. Also the beds are very comfortable and the shower and bath are glorious. The friendly welcoming owner even left us a basket of tasty treats! Overall I would say that this cottage is wonderful and I can see us booking this place again in the warmer months so that we can enjoy sitting out in the garden or making use of the cute little dinning nook outside! 5 STARS
“The location was excellent.”
The bus was really handy at the end of the road and was a frequent service to York Property was excellent and I could not fault the owner. They greeted us and explained everything really well. Property was really comfortable and the heating was excellent. We were out all day and the cottage was very warm when we got home.
“My husband and I are pensioners and the heating was to be on in evening till 11 but was off around 7 when we tried to put it on boost he would turn it off very cold it is December, no window coverings on French doors so even colder.”
Shame came home a day earlier that's what spoilt our holiday.
“Plenty of room for four in comfortable bungalow in best location for easy access and sight seeing.”
Level floors and shower cubicle just the job for folks on crutches.
“Excellent holiday cottage”
This is the second time we have stayed in Micklegarth and we hope to return next year. The cottage is spacious, airy and comfortable with everything you will need for a holiday stay. Micklegarth is conveniently situated to visit local attractions in this part of Yorkshire; a short bus ride into the wonderful city of York and easy access to the ring road to take you further afield. There is so much to do in the area for all ages and the owner has gone to some trouble to provide oodles of information on where to visit including local eateries and takeaways. We were very fortunate with the weather and took advantage of the lovely peaceful garden, enjoying the evening sun and a glass or two of wine. Suitable for families or couples this is a perfect location for an enjoyable holiday. Batteries are now well and truly recharged and I'm ready to rejoin the rat race!
“Excellent choice for York”
This property is in the ideal position for a holiday in York; near enough by bus to the city centre but also near to the outer ring road for getting out and about. The house is in a quiet little road, so no traffic to worry about if you have children. Very comfortable, warm and well kept property with everything you need for a break there. Beautiful garden if the weather allows you to get into it! Owner lives nearby so easy to get help if needed and was very welcoming.
“A first class holiday home”
An excellent holiday home clean, warm and comfortable with everything you need for an enjoyable week. Excellent location for visiting York or anywhere in N. Yorkshire. The owner was very friendly and helpful on arrival and has clearly worked hard to get everything right. He has certainty succeeded.
