  • "We had a lovely week and found the cottage comfortable and clean."

The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you would need. There is a friendly pub 2 doors away that was welcoming and served excellent meals. A very well kept village. Unfortunately we were unable to use the shower as we could not regulate the very hot temperature of the water. There was plenty of hot water so we could use the bath instead. The second bedroom had a faulty light fitting so main light could not be used. Both issues did not appear to be new problems. We reported them and it was offered to come out and fix but we could manage without for the time we were there. An extra hanging rail in the first bedroom would have been useful. As would instructions how to get the bins out to the road. The main disappointment was the outside area. It was ideal for the dog as safe and secure but was a very tired looking area with weeds and unsuitable garden furniture for sitting in comfortably. Whole area was not inviting to sit in which would have been a shame had it been summer time with lighter evenings. So much could have been done to improve the space. Based on the outdoor space i personally would not book again but found the cottage as a base to explore the area.

Thank you for the feedback. We have installed a new thermostatic shower, added a clothes rail for the main bedroom, cleaned up the garden and replaced the light bulb in the second bedroom. Thank you for letting us know these issues, it is appreciated so we can get on top of them asap. Property Owner

  • "Mouse cottage was comfortable and clean but some areas needed attention."

The bed was very comfortable. However this cottage would not accommodate 4 people the second bedroom has bunk beds suitable for small children. There is no wardrobe hanging rail for clothing or a set of drawers. In my opinion it would be better suited for 2 people and turn the second bedroom into a room for clothing. I had to buy toilet roll as only 1 very small roll was provided for a week. The back yard was full of weeds I have taken photos, It was reported but wasn't resolved. I pulled some of them out myself. We also had a problem with the lack of hot water as other guests at the property also had. A plumber was sent which did help with the water temperature. I think the owners of this cottage need to be aware of these issues, I would have reported to them directly but couldn't get any further than the property manager.

Thank you for your feedback. It is invaluable to us so that we can make the improvements necessary as we know how important holidays are and so want to offer the best accommodation that we can. We will liaise with the property management team and look to get this issues addressed immediately. We will also look into replacing some storage units in the second bedroom to try and accommodate a wardrobe. Your feedback is much appreciated. Property Owner

  • "A really cosy cottage."

Very comfy. Will rebook. Back bedroom is small. But living accommodation makes up for that in bucket fulls. Had a small issue with main bedroom door lock. Couldn't get out. Fortunately my Friend was able to open it from the otherside. But I'm sure that will be delt with. Everyone raved about the pub but we never made it there as we were so happy in the cottage. Thank you

Thank you for the wonderful feedback and thanks for the heads up about the bedroom door. This has now been fixed and I’m sorry that you had to have a few panicked minutes until your friend helped you out. Looking forward to you staying at Mouse Cottage again. Property Owner

  • "Fabulous, cosy cottage, perfect location for the beaches."

Lots to do in the area rain or shine, green pub food available next door and all the shopping amenities less than 2 miles away. Great for us and our dog. Would strongly recommend for a break away from it all- though everything is there at the cottage and environs to make it perfect!

Thank you for the wonderful review. We are glad you and your dog enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "By far the best holiday cottage we have ever visited."

It feels like home as soon as you walk in. Having dogs, can be hard work on holiday but this property made it easy. Beautifully decorated to a top standard, every detail perfectly done, and as for the patio doors at the back to the wonderful garden just topped everything off. This is like my dream home. Location was perfect. The local pub serves the best food ever at really reasonable prices. My son is autistic and it can be hard for him, in new surroundings, but he felt so safe and at home here, it was lovely to see Everything you need and more. Comfy beds, awesome shower, great choice of channels in the tv. We won’t go anywhere else now. See you next time and thank you x

What wonderful feedback. It actually brought a tear to my eye. So lovely when people love Mouse Cottage as much as we do. Looking forward to welcoming you back in the future. Thank you so much. Property Owner

  • "The location was ideal for touring, but parking our car an issue as the permanent residents, unless we returned before they did, never left enough room to park our car outside, however we always managed to park nearby, but not ideal or safe."

The property was well maintained and had everything needed. Some of the info available for appliances was sparse but if you are technically competent you can work it all out. Moving the bins between back garden gates is an issue, when you figure out what’s required, again no mention how in info pack. To leave only 1 loo roll and 1 bin liner I thought was a bit mean. Every other cleaning and tidying up essentials were there. Nice feature of buckets, spades, footballs, cricket kit, frisbees, metal detecting units and foldable chairs for the beach went down well when our grandkids visited for a day out. The local pub, the Ship was ace, with very excellent home cooking and dog friendly, with wonderful hosts. Locals were all very friendly, as was a visit to Munmanbys Pie Bald Inn, also where local shops, Co-op, chippy etc are to be found. All in all a great experience and would recommend and we would return again knowing what we now know.

Thank you for the feedback. Always helpful to see how we can make people’s experience better. Glad the extras for the kids and a day out on the beach came in handy and it is lovely to hear that you would come back again. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was perfect for us with 1 small dog."

There was more little extras in the cottage which were great. Had everything you need for a good stay. Nice outside space out the back too. Perfect location for the bus stop for the coastliner to Scarborough , Filey, Cayton bay and Bridlington. The Ship Inn a couple of doors down is excellent. Great food, Lovely hospitality. We would definetly recommend this cottage

Thank you for recommending Mouse Cottage and yes having the bus stop close by is perfect if you want to explore the coast without having to worry about driving/parking. Really glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you Property Owner

  • "What an absolute gem this cottage is."

From the moment we walked in we felt thoroughly welcomed. It was absolutely spotlessly clean, everything was modern and with additional touches that made it even more special. Comfortable beds, a huge family dinner table, good wifi, great TV reception, a very long enclosed garden for our pets, a coffee maker, great kitchen accessories and games for the kids to play. We had Filey/Scarborough/Bridlington within a 15 min drive and discovered Reighton and Speeton to be excellent for fossil finding. I have to say this was the nicest place I’ve ever found on the East Coast for a stay, it was perfect for our needs and was beyond expectations.

Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback. It really means a lot to us that you loved the cottage as much as we do. Thank you. Property Owner

Had lots of great walks nearby and Filey beach a 10 minute drive away. Had a lovely time with the dogs exploring in the day and relaxing in the cottage at night. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone and will be looking at going again.

Thank you so much for this lovely feedback. It’s so lovely to hear. We are really glad you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to having you back again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Really enjoyed our stay, the cottage is lovely and so well located."

Facilities were really good and modern, whilst the theme of the cottage enhanced our stay. The only point of note is there are no wardrobes! We’ll definitely use again. Regards Col W

Thank you for your lovely comment and I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay. Sorry about the lack of wardrobes, with the space we had it was a toss up between a vanity unit or a wardrobe so as a compromise we went for the vanity unit and underbed storage drawers for clothes. We will look into whether we can shift things around to fit a wardrobe in, perhaps in the smaller bedroom. We are really glad you liked the cottage, it really is ideally located and we look forward to you staying here again in the future. Thank you so much for the feedback. Property Owner
