  • "A beautiful property everything we needed for a lovely break."

The barn is clean, very comfortable and in a brilliant location. Comfy beds, wonderful shower and a lovely outdoor area which was a real sun trap. We could not have asked for anymore and will definitely be returning.

  • "Had a great stay at Little Holm Garth."

The owners adjoin the property and they are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The property is bigger than we thought it would be from the pictures and it has everything you need. They have done an amazing job at maintaining the heritage of the building whilst making it great for modern day living with a brand new refit. The furniture is great quality and the bed is very comfortable. There is an L shaped sofa in the lounge which the pictures don't show and that is really comfy. The kitchen is well equipped with absolutely everything you need and the bathroom has plenty of storage plus the shower is great. There is outside space to sit out also. There is parking space for a car (we actually have a small van and that fitted no problem). Whitby is nearby and there is a park and ride down the road from the accommodation if you don't want to pay to park the car in the town. Really handy to explore the local attractions and coastline with the added bonus of coming back to Newholm which is a lovely little village for peace and quiet in the evening. The owners have really put thought into making it a great experience for guests and they genuinely seemed to care that we enjoyed our stay. Wouldn't hesitate to come back here. Well done Andrea and Paul

Thank you for the wonderful feedback, we loved having you stay and would love to welcome you back in the future:) Property Owner

The property

Little Holm Garth is a charming single-storey barn conversion set in the village of Newholm on the outskirts of Whitby, North Yorkshire.

Offering a characterful retreat for two within the North York Moors National Park, boasting an enclosed garden and allowing one well behaved dog.

You arrive and park the car just outside, with the added convenience of an EV charger ready for use.

The stone exterior and charming barn doors immediately set the tone, hinting at the building’s rural heritage.

Light filters through the doors as you step closer, and the enclosed garden frames the property with a sense of privacy, its lawn and graveled areas arranged with outdoor furniture for relaxed moments outdoors.

Opening the barn doors, you step straight into the sitting room, where wooden flooring runs underfoot and draws you into the heart of the cottage.

Natural light pours in, giving the space an open, welcoming feel.

Settle into the seating with the TV on in the background, admire the coastal artwork that reflects Whitby’s seaside character as the evening draws in, creating a warm focal point after a day spent exploring.

From here, the kitchen sits close at hand, making it easy to move between relaxing and cooking.

Preparing meals becomes part of the experience, whether you are cooking a leisurely breakfast or an evening supper, with the electric hob and fridge freezer ready for simple self-catering.

Thoughtfully integrated appliances mean everything you need is close by, allowing you to focus on enjoying your time together rather than the practicalities.

The wooden flooring continues through to the bedroom, where the space feels calm and uncluttered, designed for slow mornings and relaxing nights.

Soft light fills the room, and the en-suite bathroom adds a touch of indulgence, with a walk-in shower, gold accents, and a light-up mirror that brings a gentle glow as you start the day.

After a long walk across the moors or along the coast, the shower offers a refreshing pause before settling back into the evening.

The surrounding North York Moors National Park opens up endless opportunities for exploration, with sweeping moorland, winding country roads, and dramatic scenery waiting to be discovered.

Whitby itself draws visitors with its historic harbour, clifftop walks, and the striking presence of Whitby Abbey, where ancient stonework meets far-reaching sea views.

Robin Hood’s Bay offers a memorable contrast, with steep lanes leading down to a shoreline shaped by tides and time, perfect for long walks and moments spent by the water.

Scarborough provides a livelier coastal experience, where sandy beaches, gardens, and a historic castle overlooking the bay create a varied day out beside the sea.

Switch off and enjoy a couple’s break in the countryside at Little Holm Garth.
