Close by is Crayke with an award winning gastro pub, whilst nearby Stillington provides a local shop, a Post Office, and three dining pubs, and the market town of Easingwold offers all the usual amenities, including a traditional Friday market. Brandsby is handily placed for touring, with the famous City of York only 12 miles away, whilst the North York Moors and East Coast, seaside towns of Scarborough, Bridlington and Whitby are all within an hour's drive. The surrounding area is steeped in history, with an abundance of abbeys, stately homes and gardens, such as Castle Howard, Byland Abbey and Helmsley Castle, waiting to be explored.
