Lovely scenery all around the area Strathpeffer just down the road which if you are walking will take you about a hour to get too but a bit longer coming back as up a hill. Family very friendly and helpful. Nice walks for the dog and he enjoyed this very much. Ullapool is a hour away and the other direction Dornoch is the same. Inverness is 20 mins and Dingwall 10 mins. Would recommend this Chalet as family totally enjoyed the week.

  • "We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Larchfield Chalet 2."

The place has everything we need (the dishwasher and washing machine are much appreciated!). Easy to find if you follow Google Maps. It’s a good base to explore the Highlands and it’s conveniently close to Dingwall for shops, EV charging point, etc. We had a chinese takeaway from the nearby Liking restaurant and it was amazing. Highly recommend this place. :)

Everything was fresh, bright and comfortable. Directions to the area were accurate apart from the last part, it takes you nowhere near the chalet. A call was made to Alan and he came for us, it was only a matter of minutes away but better directions to the chalet would save poor Alan having to rescue everyone

The owners were kind and friendly and Alan showed us around when we arrived. The chalet is in a great position with wonderful views and a resident Red Kite who we enjoyed watching, also close by were Highland cows that my daughter adored. The chalet itself is very well equipped and comfortable and we slept so well in that peaceful place, despite it being light late at night and from 4am onwards! We enjoyed spending evenings sat on the veranda watching the birds It's a wonderful peaceful place to visit, and we would love to come back on future. Thank you.

Alan was super friendly and helpful, especially when we got a little lost. The chalet was toasty warm and so comfortable when we arrived after our long journey. The bottle of wine, chocolates and flowers were a lovely touch. The fluffy towels and fresh bedding smelt wonderful too. We managed to get up and see some amazing sunrises from the balcony too and saw red kites flying over the hillside. The Chalet had everything you needed. We will definitely be back up again. Our son was devastated we had to leave!

  • "As we did not go to this property , even though it was paid for."

On phoning the owner he revealed that there was a problem with the access due to deep ruts in the access to this property, this made it impossible for us to visit. We booked an alternative on the same dates, resulting in a loss to ourselves. when I contacted customer services, there contact told me I should not go to Scotland as all roads were like that!!.He told me a refund not possible as owner had been paid. As we were led to believe that the property was accessible, i.e parking on site, this has been misrepresented, and a refund should be made, I am not happy with the way Sykes have handled this

Beautiful location with great views Chalet very comfortable but rather tired and in need of an upgrade and some TLC Impossible to reach without a guide as Sykes directions are wrong and I have to thank the owner for driving down to the main road to meet us. I wouldn’t recommend staying here without a car (or a team of Sherpas). The Strathpeffer/ Dingwall Área is lovely and a great base to explore the Highlands, but be warned Strathpeffer itself small and deserted, there’s nothing there.

Even though the tourist industry has been badly hit by Covid 19 it was possible to get morning coffee and snack meals in the village. The location of the chalet was quite remote but the peaceful and beautiful country side and the friendliness of the people is what we were looking for. The chalet was very well equipped , comfortable and clean. Mr and Mrs Ross were perfect hosts, friendly and helpful. It’s in a very quiet location but close enough to the town. It’s comfortable and well equipped. There are steps to the front door but our 2yr old managed them no problem. The only criticism about the lodge would be it could do with a bit of updating but everything works well. There are lots of walks near by and yes we saw red kites every day from the balcony. Would definitely go back. The owners Allan and Sandra are very friendly and helpful.

It was very quiet and had nice views across the valley from the balcony. We saw red kites flying overhead and were told of red kite feeding everyday the other side of Strathpeffer. Sheep, chickens and highland cattle were all seen in the fields by the chalet. It was a bit tricky to find initially but the friendly host quickly came out and lead us there and explained all we needed to know about the property. We enjoyed the welcoming wine and chocolates very much. We were lucky enough to be around when Castle Leod was open to the public. It was very interesting and worth a visit. There are many walks in the area and scenic drives and a distillery at Muir of Ord just down the road. Rogie Falls to see the salmon leaping was another highlight. Loch Ness was easily accessible and we managed a day trip to the Isle of Skye with a lovely drive through the mountains.

About the location

STRATHPEFFER

Inverness 20 miles.

Often compared to a Bavarian Mountain resort, the picturesque spa village of Strathpeffer owes its growth to the discovery of water springs during the 1700s, and was declared in 1819 to be the healthiest drinking water in Britain! The original Spa Pavilion has been magnificently restored after a period of disuse and now serves as a venue for a variety of events, including concerts, dances, dramas and exhibitions. The former Victorian railway station, which in times past brought many visitors from near and far, has now been beautifully restored to house craft workers and their shops, and is also home to the Highland Museum of Childhood. Visit the restored Pump house (also a Tourist Information point), take a walk along a forest track, or enjoy the views from the nearby pictish hill fort at Knockfarrel. Whatever you decide there's plenty on offer for all the family.
