  • "What a lovely house, big, spacious rooms clean and full of everything you need, a real home from home."

Although it was just 2 of us, it's certainly big enough for 8 and it still wouldn't feel crowded. Tastefully decorated with a Scottish charm. 2 log fires, 1 in the living room and kitchen for those cold winter evenings, a traditional Aga stove which was easy to use but for those not brave enough there's a ceramic hob and fan assisted oven. Pizza oven in the outside kitchen and the hot tub were just the icing on he cake. Contact with the owner was easy and she was very responsive when we had a question prior to arriving and during the stay. Round and about there are plenty of walks, amazing waterfalls, castles and historic places to visit. There's a co op which is well stocked 5 mins drive and supermarkets within 15 mins. Not sure if the pub was closed due to it being November but Inverness is 20 mins away and worth the visit. All in all we would highly recommend Orinside.

The house was in great shape upon arrival. It was much larger than expected which allowed the 8 of us to all have a very comfortable time. Bedrooms were large with cabinets allowing us to unpack our luggage for the 5 nights we stayed. The kitchen was spacious with a dishwasher, large fridge with water and ice dispenser. The three bathrooms were also large and lovely. We went on many walks as there were many walking trails within walking distance from the home. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The property was very well taken care of with a lovely yard in the back. The hot tub was perfect for a couple of our big traveling We would definitely come back if ever in the area. Clearly a very loved home. Thank you!

  • "A lovely, charming, cottage well-situated in a relatively central area of Scotland."

The house itself is nice, very clean, with a well equipped and good-sized kitchen. The bedrooms were of a good size with comfortable beds, and all of the bathrooms were nice and modern. Outside, the hot tub and pizza-oven are nice extras to have, both of which we made use of! Muir of Ord is a small village surrounded by lots beautiful areas of nature, locally and within an hour drive. Highlights include The Cairngorms (Loch Morlich is a must visit!), Bad Girl Bakery in Muir of Ord, and Rosemarkie beach. We are amazed at the variety Scotland has to offer and we barely managed to scratch the surface in the week we had. This cottage in Muir of Ord provided a great base to go exploring from and we can’t wait to return in the future!

lots of walks on the doorstep and interesting thing to do near by.if I did have to raise a suggestion a tumble drier would be useful other than that 10 out of 10

Thank you so much for this feedback. Have a note regarding the tumble dryer but there are industrial tumble dryers just at the local petrol station that dries in an hour and is much more efficient than a household one would proved. We felt that this was a good facility on the doorstep. Have taken this note though and thank you so much for your information. Hope to welcome you back Property Owner

Orrinside is just beautiful, specious, well equipped with lovely decorations up for Christmas. Some fabulous nods to the distillery next door too. We enjoyed cosy nights in with the the log fires burning and even enjoyed the hot tub under the canopy whilst watching the snow fall. The bedrooms were vey tastefully decorated and all 3 bathrooms were spotlessly clean with underfloor heating and towels, robes, slippers and soap available for us all. Communication with Emma was 2nd to none and nothing too much trouble, giving hints and tips of where to go and even giving us advice on cooking Christmas dinner in the Aga and had she even put Christmas crockery there for us to use. I wouldn’t hesitate on staying at Orrinside again next time we are up and will be highly recommending it to everyone!! Thank you from us all for a fabulous stay xxx

We had a relaxing time sitting in front of the fire or enjoying the hot tub. There was a smart TV with Netflix etc as well for the rainier/colder days. The bed was comfortable and the huge bathrooms were all beautiful with underfloor heating. There are lots of reminders around too that this house once belonged to the Distillery too. The Xmas decorations were a nice personal touch, as was the robes, slippers, soaps and welcome pack. The aga was amazing to cook on, I used it a lot. The grounds were very nest and well tended. All in all it was a very nice holiday experience. The Owner was very helpful and easily contactable. Thanks again, we had a lovely holiday experience and I'm sure we will be back again!

Our party consisted of 4 adults and two collie dogs - and there was plenty of space for us all, inside and out - the garden was great for the dogs. The location is stunning and peaceful but not too far from anywhere which allowed us to explore different parts of the area, Fortrose, Rosemarkie, Strathpeffer, Beauly etc. as well as fitting in a few games of golf. The only negative comment is that this property was advertised as wheelchair accessible and it wasn't fully accessible. There was a step to get into the property so my husband needed assistance to get into the property each time and in the wet room on the ground floor there wasn't any grab rails or a shower stool.

Hi Nadine, Thank you so much for your feedback, it was lovely to have met you etc. I am so sorry I didnt realise you needed wheelchair access, I do have a portable wheelchair ramp that is specially made for the step at orrinside and we do indeed have a shower stool available for guest. The property

If you’re looking to celebrate a special occasion with a group of friends or family with thoughtfully arranged special requests catered to, as well as the opportunity to enjoy a private whisky tasting masterclass brought specially to you, look no further than Orrinside for a truly tailor-made getaway.

Lying on the outskirts of the village of Muir of Ord, Orrinside is a lovingly-renovated holiday home with years of family history of everything Scottish, offering a spacious setting for a group getaway to the Scottish Highlands, including beautiful tartan carpets to welcome you as you step into the hallway.

The house is prime location for shooting and fishing pursuits as near the river Conon and nearby shooting estates, not to mention the great Muir of Ord golf course, so is a perfect base from which everyone can enjoy their favourite activities.

Boasting stylish and contemporary furnishings throughout, this attractive stone-built house exudes luxury and whisky paraphernalia from the family’s extensive knowledge and over 50 years of experience with everything whisky – at the bottom of the garden is a small burn that feeds into a dam that is used for making the whisky at Glen Ord Distillery.

Accessibility has been considered at this property, with a portable deaf alerter system, a wheelchair ramp for entry and level slabs to the rear for easy access.

The open-plan living space is complete with a well-designed kitchen with an array of impressive appliances including an AGA and a spacious dining table and a sociable sitting area with a woodburning stove together creating the perfect space to entertain friends and family.

A separate sitting room can be found resting across the way and hosts another woodburning stove, perfect for those cold winter nights as you cosy up to loved ones for a night in front of the TV.

Open up the patio doors and take the evening out onto the decking, indulging in a fantastic feast courtesy of the barbecue and wood-fired oven, before grabbing your swimsuits and enjoying a dip in the hot tub – towelling robes and disposable slippers will be provided, so just grab a flute of chilled bubbly from the fridge and toast to your loved ones in style!

Rinse yourself off in the handy wet room, grabbing your towel and retreating to the ground-floor king-size bedroom (which has the below very apt Robert Burns quote on the wall) – with all bathrooms benefitting from underfloor heating, you’re sure to dry off and get cosy for bed in no time.

Venture up the staircase and discover a beautiful family bathroom featuring a roomy tub and a walk-in shower, as well as three gorgeous bedrooms consisting of a double, a king-size and a master benefitting from a super king-size and its very own en-suite.

Take a scenic woodland walk through the RSPB Tollie Red Kites Natural Reserve, spotting majestic birds as you embrace the magnificent scenery.

Travel to Garve to see the wonderful Black Water Falls, or take a stroll along Moray Firth on a trip to Avoch Beach.

Spend the day in the city of Inverness and explore the imposing 18th Century castle, before admiring the grand architecture of the Redstone Cathedral.

Be at one with nature at Merkinch Local Nature Reserve or travel deeper into the highlands for an exhilarating hike through the countryside.

Tour the nearby 17th Century fortress of Kilcoy Castle and see the picturesque ruins of the Beauly Priory, before heading over to the Bad Girl Bakery in Muir Of Ord for some gorgeous baked goods and a hot drink.

Lose yourself as you wander through the ancient Touchstone Maze or head down to the ruins of Urquhart Castle that rest peacefully on the famous Loch Ness.

In the northern highlands, barley from the Black Isle meets water from the White Burn to make a Scotch of vibrant colour: The Singleton of Glen Ord – the Black Isle is a peninsula that gets its name from its rich, fertile soil and the land had been in the possession of the MacKenzie family for nearly 700 years when Thomas MacKenzie chose the site for his distillery in 1838.

Take a tour to find out more, and taste oaky whisky at the Glen Ord Distillery (literally a rugby ball’s throw from Orrinside) before grabbing a delicious dinner from the selection of takeaways, hotels and bars, in Muir of Ord or Beauly, and heading back to this fabulous home-away-from-home.

There's everything here for a perfect family retreat; little ones have not been forgotten about, with thought having gone into children as well – we believe it’s the small things that make a difference.

For the ultimate holiday to Scotland, be sure to book a stay at Orrinside and let the housekeeper know of any special requests for your celebration, to add that extra sparkle to your holiday.
