"Braewood was the ideal base for exploring all that Loch Ness, Inverness and the surrounding areas of Scotland has to offer."
The property is a perfect size for a family and I found for myself that it had everything I needed to have a relaxing and enjoyable week on holiday. It has great views and a lovely pub just 5 mins down the road that serves amazing food
-
"We were 5 people and had a great stay at Braewood."
The location is perfect to go to different places: Isle of Skye, Glencoe, Inverness of course, and many other sites. The house is very clean, comfortable and with everything needed to have a pleasant stay. The owner is nice and easily joined. I warmly recommend.

Cottage was lovely clean and comfortable the only gripe I had was there was no information about anything which I have always found in every other property I've stayed in place is great for touring star gazing and wildlife watching will be back again in the near future

"Fantastic cottage we also had amazing weather to boot ."
Just the cooker couldn't get grill to work but we used a pan . Everything you could want or need even the pool table was a bonus . Photos don't do the place justice far far prettier than it looks on sykes . We will definitely stay here again the ride down into Fort Augustus was stunning a lovley friendly little village thanks braewood and thank-you again sykes fabulous

"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
The kids enjoyed exploring in the trees round the property. Wheelchair friendly. Great veiws of the stars at night. An adventure for those of us who don't have an electric cooker, the instructions were good and we did manage to cook a Sunday dinner

"This property is in a lovely, secluded location in the Highlands, perfect if you need to escape."
It's 15 mins from Fort Augustus where you can find all the amenities you need. The view from the property is beautiful, you can spend a lot of time wildlife spotting - as well as the cattle and sheep, there were hares, deer, and Ospreys. Would highly recommend having a meal at the Whitebridge hotel up the road (1 mile), great hosts, food and atmosphere. The cottage itself was clean and comfortable. It could have been great if there was a little more attention to detail. It was disappointing to see that comments other visitors have made have not been heeded - the oven still doesn't have markings on it, making it a guessing game. It's an Ikea oven so we looked it up online to try and work it out. The shower in the main bathroom does not get hot, and thus was rendered useless for the stay. Some smaller things like loose fittings, but nothing major. Overall a nice base to explore the Highlands, but just needs that finer detail sorting.

"Lovely cottage very clean and tidy everyone in our party enjoyed the stay very much, nice touch with the pool table."
The only issue with the property was the main toilet shower was cold even with using the temperature controls, just wouldn't heat up, other than that it was just perfect for us,thank you.
-
"Wonderful location for us."
Braewood is a lovely house, all facilities provided were great and well appointed for our needs, good water pressure for the shower and the WiFi worked very well. Views across the fields were brilliant and the ever four-legged moving scenery was fabulous to observe, thank you.

"Big fat tick for peaceful solitude and wildlife - red squirrels, deer, hares all around the bungalow."
We had a really lovely stay, what’s not to love about the highlands of Scotland … outstanding. The only minor gripe was that the place needed a little tlc and thought for guests. A shaving point, shower caddy, loo brush etc and don’t get me started on the oven! The control panel had no markings so dinner was sometimes interesting/burnt/undercooked. Having said that I would definitely rebook as it’s a beautiful and relaxing location.

"We had a great stay in Braewood it is perfectly located to explore all of the Great Glen and beyond."
It is lovely and peaceful with fantastic views and we were visited by lots of local wildlife. Our only niggles really concern the kitchen. The lighting is very poor making preparing even simple meals a challenge in the dim light. As a party of 5 we found it difficult to find enough undamaged or matching crokery. The symbols have worn off the oven making cooking a bit of a guessing game. PS some oven gloves would be helpful.

"Extremely beautiful location with lots of greeneries and mountain view."
Saw lots of bunnies and sheep in the front field of the cottage. There is a lovely stream on walking distance. Very well maintained, modernised and clean cottage with all the facilities. Absolutely loved it.
-
"The most beautiful cottage with a view we have ever seen."
Pictures don't even justify. They don't even put any pictures of the majestic view from the cottage . Will love to go back.
-
"Modern cottage, excellent amenities."
Breath taking views.

"We found the Bungalow to be exactly as the picture showed."

"It was a lovely cottage in a beautiful location."

"We had a fabulous stay at braewood!"
Beautiful surroundings & everything you need for a relaxing stay in a beautiful area of Scotland. We will definitely be returning. Yes, the 4G is non existent & no phone service either which can be a pain when trying to plan day trips etc but a mile up the road, there is WiFi available at the Whitebridge Hotel, a perfect excuse for a glass of wine while planning trips. The pictures really do not do it justice.
-
"Well stocked kitchen (but no coffee pot) and good sized garage for storage of bikes etc."
no reception for vodafone but some for EE. Could do with better signage for first visit, but more than made up by the deer and red squirrels you share the garden with.
-
"Braewood was very clean, comfortable and had amazing views with plenty of wildlife."
A good spot for exploring the area and a great pub nearby. We liked it so much we booked again for next year before we left. Yes it didn’t have a phone signal or wifi but with other houses nearby and the hotel up the road we didn’t feel isolated.
-
"Would be good to have a landline."
The cooker/oven did not have any graduation to help it. Most things where fine. The Sky box only had free view. No Sky at all. I do love the isolation.
-
"Cell phones out of service area, no wifi, no landline, so no possibillity to reach anyone in case of imergency"

"The cottage was as described, however, the remoteness and road conditions were not what we were expecting."
It also was not as welcoming as most Sykes aquired cottages. It doesn't come close to the cottage we stayed in in Northern Ireland and both have four ticks. The cottage was very spacious and comfortable. Not having wifi is a drawback and never could get a signal on the TV. We were there to sightsee so that wasn't a big issue. There was no information booklet with nearby stores and/or restaurants and to operate appliances. Ovens are different across the pond, but we figured it out. We had stopped in Fort Augustus and bought what we thought we would need. We had also read about the Whitebridge Hotel restaurant. We recommend it but make a reservation!! One evening they were full and couldn't seat us. We did manage to get takeout burgers! The washer and dryer were greatly appreciated. Also, no instructions on the gate. There were sheep all around the cottage so we made sure the gate was always closed. This is a great place if you want to just relax and enjoy your surroundings. If you are sightseeing plan on a lot of driving. Someplace to hang wet towels in the master bath would be nice.

"Braewood was in a wonderful position, it is remote and peaceful, for a get away from it all holiday."
The views from the back were amazing and we had many wild visitors including hares and red squirrel. The weather for our two weeks was unusually good for Scotland .
-
"The lodge was great."
we like the facilities and the cleaniness. But it was a hassle for us to find the place. We were in stress and hurry to sleep on that night in order to complete our cross Loch Ness swim on that day. It wasn't easy that there was no mobile phone nor internet signal at all there at the location and tried to reach your service to figure out the direction and details.

"Braewood is a lovely house."
It is much larger inside than the photographs imply. It is a comfortable property and has everything you need. No WiFi, also mobile signal pretty weak, but it was rather nice not to have these things. Sheep and cows roam freely around the property so the gate should be kept shut at all times. Great location for getting away from it all, but close enough to lots of walks, castles etc. Fort Augustus is the nearest town and Inverness about an hour away. We ate in the local Whitebridge Hotel a couple of times and would highly recommend it. All in all a wonderful holiday - great weather (apart from about half an hour of rain). Would definitely go back.
-
"The easy of booking and arriving at our holiday house was fantastic."
The description and photos don’t do the house justice, it exceeded expectations, the views were stunning, house was like home from home.kitchen well equipped, toys for toddler which she thought it was like Christmas going into the garage to find a slide, play tent and more. Although sky tv is advertised it was painfully slow but this added to our highland experience. No WiFi no phone signal and limited tv makes u go out walk, play cards, scrabble. Really enjoyed our break, would definitely recommend this house and look forward to returning one day. Thank you

The property
This detached bungalow is set in a quiet secluded woodland location in the village of Whitebridge, within driving distance of Inverness.
This Loch Ness cottage has mature trees bordering the rear of the property and to the front there are lovely uninterrupted views across the fields to the Monadhliath Mountains.
This contemporary Loch Ness cottage is well presented and spacious, and is the perfect holiday home to relax in after a day's walking, fishing or cycling.
At your Loch Ness cottage there are three bedrooms, one of which has en-suite facilities, a family bathroom, well-equipped kitchen and a sitting room with dining area.
The shores of Loch Ness are only 3 miles away and the road around Loch Ness is a fantastic route to follow.
Be sure to stop off at some of the villages en route and to look out for the famous monster!
Close by are the Falls of Foyers, Fort Augustus and the famous Urquhart Castle.
Naturally the area has an abundance of wildlife and it would not be unusual to see deer passing the window, hares running through the grounds and a wide range of bird life including pheasants and partridges at this Loch Ness cottage.
Whether touring the area in a car, taking lovely long walks or cycle rides, fishing for brown trout in the local river or simply relaxing and making the most of the highland atmosphere, you will not be disappointed!
