Sitting on a hillside, in rolling Sutherland countryside, this stone-built, traditional cottage is located on a working sheep farm, in the small community of Upper Bighouse.
From its elevated position, this Highlands cottage has far-reaching, open views and is ideal for a family or a group of friends who want to explore this rugged, dramatic area, and experience a different pace of life.

The village of Melvich is a short drive away and offers good local services, and the bustling town of Thurso has an excellent array of shops and places to dine and is just a half an hour drive.
The area is ideal for fishermen with a choice of lochs and rivers, and for birdwatchers as the sweeping Sutherland scenery offers fantastic opportunities with Forsinard RSPB Bird Sanctuary just eight miles away.
The Castle of Mey is the most northerly inhabited castle on the British mainland, and is well worth a visit.

The village of Melvich is located on the north coast of Scotland near the mouth of the River Halladale and is set in the rolling and open space of Sutherland known as 'Mackay Country'. At the head of the bay is Melvich Beach, a beautiful and unspoilt stretch of golden sand and a popular venue for surfing. Melvich has a village shop and Post Office as well as a village inn with a restaurant. Melvich attracts many visitors, especially during the summer months, as it is an ideal base for touring the north coast of Scotland. Orkney is just a short ferry ride away, and fishing is available on many of the local lochs.
