“The flat is lovely.”

Slept well. Facilities are good. The floor could do with a hoover as covered in dog hairs. Only a small issue. The bedroom blackout blind needs refitted.

“The apartment is called ''Hill View Apartment'' which suggests it has a nice view of a hill, it does'nt, you can see a hill, over the top of a line of very close rooftops if you are standing at the kitchen?”

Sink/window, but not from anywhere else. It is advertised as sleeping 4 guests, a double room and a sofa bed, we let the kids sleep in the double room, and my wife and I spent 1 night on the most uncomfortable sofa bed ever. we could not only feel the springs dig into our backs but the sofa bed sloped away from the middle so you'd end up falling off, we had to spend every other night sleeping on the corner sofas, not something we'd quite expect from a 'Sykes' accomodation. As for contact with the owner, well we did'nt get any, we had the usual key safe number text, from 'the cleaner' the day before our arrival but when I text her back that we'd arrived safely we had nothing else. Overall, the apatment was not upto the standards we've come to expect from a 'Sykes Cottages' accomodation and we left feeling dissapointed and relieved that we were going to get back to sleeping in a bed when we got back home.

“On arrival it was ok although the key safe is a bit high to access.”

I was told that everything had been cleaned and remotes should be in a bag, they were not and did not work properly. I was told the cutlery would be in the drainer, it was, but drainer not very clean. Fridge shelves had not been cleaned. Kitchen utensils had not been cleaned. I know they ask the guest to do this before they leave but it is not the expectation of the next arrival to have to do this. Some dishes had also not been cleaned properly. Cistern ran continually The location and the flat was fine and easy access to everything around.

“Nice quiet location, a pleasant 20 minute walk into the town but unfortunately the property is in need of a serious deep clean.”

We do not appreciate spending the first hour of our holiday cleaning all the kitchen utensils that we're likely to use. The sky remote looked like someone had had a nice evening eating pizza and then pressing every button on the remote. Our dog constantly appeared covered in stew/dust very noticable on a black dog. Apart from that the weather was lovely.

“The apartment location is especially good for walkers.”

It is very comfortable and close to the edge of a modern but quiet housing development, with access to local paths and the Speyside Way just round the corner. The river is a 10 minute stroll away on woodland paths. Highly recommended.

“I would happily come back to this flat again - it is in a quiet Cul de sac and is ideally positioned for the Speyside way (2 min walk away) which is great for dog walking.”

It is situated 1 mile away from the centre of Aviemore but has the advantage of a local supermarket /shops 5 minutes walk away. The only downside was a lack of kitchen equipment - no decent pots - pans or casserole dishes (which would be easy and cheap to update).

“This apartment in Aviemore had views to the hills front and back and was sited in a cul-de-sac within a quiet estate but handy for local amenities.”

A good centre to take advantage of all the many and varied things to do within a few miles of Aviemore as well as a good centre for touring further a field and walking in and around Aviemore and on the Cairngorms. We had a very restful and enjoyable week with good weather for most of the days. We would certainly recommend this apartment to friends and family and would think about going back for another week later in the year.
