  • "Kestrel cottage was a really amazing place to stay."

The cottage completely exceeded our expectations and the views are breathtaking. We were 4 adults on our stay and we were more than comfortable. We had everything we needed. Mackie and Eimear were fantastic hosts. A slight issue with the TV in one of the bedrooms was fixed really quickly. The fireplace was one of my favourite features as well as the hot tub of course! It’s a really remote location so a car is definitely necessary but the location is really great to explore the west coast which we did and thoroughly enjoyed. We’re already planning when we can get back. Can’t recommend highly enough, we all had a fantastic relaxing holiday. Thanks you Mackie abs Eimear.

Set in a stunning location. Very dog friendly with secure garden. The owners were extremely helpful especially when we had a break down in our vehicle. Special thanks to them for their assistance and making our stay so enjoyable.

  • "Absolutely fabulous cottage with everything thought of that you could need."

Mackie also provided some great recommendations of things to do whilst there which made the stay even better. Our faves were: Durness beach, walk up to "The Mannie", walk along the beach from Brora to a beachfront waterfall and seeing the grey seal colony there too, Ynot cafe in Thurso, seafood shack at Dornoch beach, The Pier cafe at Lairg, Balblair woods and Loch Fleet..... But most of all....... The Views!!!!!!!! Couldn't recommend the area or the cottage highly enough.

About the location

ROGART

Golspie 9.5 miles; Brora 14.6 miles.

The small village of Rogart lies in the county of Sutherland in the Scottish Highlands. The village is also home to the Rogart Railway station, which has become something of an informal outdoor museum of railway memorabilia. Within the village, there is a convenience store, petrol station, a Parish church and a traditional Scottish pub. The nearby coastal village of Golspie is well worth a visit, offering a long sandy beach, which attracts many visitors in all weather conditions, along with a thriving high street lined with independent businesses, restaurants, pubs and cafés. Rogart makes a charming base for touring this beautiful part of Scotland.
