  • "This is probably the best property we have stayed in through this website, it was perfect as is the location."

We felt as though we had a personal welcome from the owners and the tot of whiskey and shortbread was a lovely touch. (My wife ate the shortbread and I drank the whiskey) We can't recommend this property enough. It was wonderful

  • "Wow what a nice place in a beautiful location, the cottage was perfect with everything you could ask for."

The owners happen to be there in there holiday home , what a lovely couple , on arrival after a long drive they gave us a chilled bottle of wine to enjoy in the garden, the cottage was spotless with everything you could hope for . If I had any negative points it would be the location of the washing machine , would be better actual in the cottage itself , but this is a very very minor point. Ps, You must visit the CraigDarroch hotel for a beer with great views over Loch Ness, just a few minutes walk. Thanks again for a lonely stay.

  • "We had a lovely week in this very nice ground floor flat in an extremely quiet area."

Nicely set out and welcoming tray of mini whisky and shortbread thank you. Easy to find, and good parking space. Several other houses are around but there was absolutely no sound from any of them save for the odd car going past or a person moving a bin to the roadside. Very peaceful location. All equipment worked well. Bed (5 ft wide) and pillows were comfortable. Heating was on a timer and it wasn’t cold enough to use the wood burner. Plenty of hot water. Shower pressure not bad. Wi-Fi better than expected. Not much storage for two for a week but plenty of hooks. No “view” from the windows just the nice little garden, so note the final photos in the listing are of places in the area a few minutes walk down the road. Not perfectly clean, there are corners around the bath with black mould that could do with a scrub and the edges of the shower screen need dismantling and cleaning out, same for shower hose. One wonky bath tap. Basin has slow drainage even after removing the plug top. Also there’s a strange unfinished section in the bathroom that we blocked up with a towel to prevent things falling off the worktop down into a very tiny gap. Main kitchen parts very clean with a lovely sink, clean fridge and oven but kitchen windowpane edge very grubby. Well equipped with also some salt, pepper, olive oil provided. Coffee-pod machine, cafetière, kettle, microwave. Lots of oven pans. Frying pan, two saucepans, mini dishwasher, everything in good condition. Washing up liquid, cloth and teatowels. Little shop 5 mins walk away at Foyers Falls otherwise drive to Inverness for a large supermarket. Such a beautiful area to visit with lovely walks and roads are clear and easy to drive with amazing views along the way. Loch Ness is incredible and we saw the monster several times.

  • "I’ve been coming to the Highlands since I was a child so it seemed fitting to go with my wife as our honeymoon location."

Through much searching Wendy’s seemed like a perfect honeymoon get away a short walk from the shores of Loch Ness. Upon arrival I haven’t seen a cleaner holiday stay before Wendy’s and a lovely greeting in the form of a wee dram of whiskey, so pleasant to get a fire going and enjoy some single malt after a days exploring. Thankfully you have everything needed for self catering and just enjoying some undisturbed chill time and one of the best things as seen by the pictures is it has a genuine cosy and authentic highland experience. You have to experience the falls of foyers walk through the forest leading down to Loch Ness. Inverness is lovely to explore with a meal at Roc Pool or a burger at Coyote’s. If you can get over to the Cairngorms do Loch En Eilen, best walk around a Loch in my life. Don’t hesitate with this place, quality get away. Thanks Ewan and Karina

Spotlessly clean, modern and comfortable. Light and airy and in a fabulously tranquil location. We had marvellous weather too. The booking process was quick and efficient and communication with the cottage owners was quick and precise. We felt thoroughly welcomed and ‘at home’ from the moment we arrived, with a drop of whiskey and some shortbread left on the table. A five star stay for sure and if it wasn’t an 11 hour drive away, I’d be definitely be a regular. Anyway, I highly recommend you stay.

  • "Wendy's place was the perfect home away from home for a perfect balanced week of chill and exploring in the highlands."

The cottage is very tastefully decorated so you feel like you are in an authentic Scottish cottage but comes with all the mod cons from underfloor heating, coffee machine, dishwasher and wifi. It is very clean, well put together and organised. We received a lovely tray setup of whisky and shortbread upon arrival. Sitting in front of the fire with the cutest decorative cup for my tea was my favourite thing, so much so I went down to Morag's Boathy to buy a couple of hand painted mugs myself. There are so many short beautiful walks right on your doorstep to get your daily dose of exercise and a small convenience store with essentials and cafes and bars within walking distance to keep you going. There is TV and DVDs too. The only thing I would add for someone like me is some board games and packs of cards, dominoes etc but that's a personal preference. Overall couldn't fault anything as it was perfect, better than I expected and would definitely go back.

Thoughtful touches such as biscuits and a wee dram, but also dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll and loo roll and firewood were supplied, so you don't get there and have to immediately go shopping again. Inverness is a short drive away as is Fort Augustus both of which are very pretty. Urquhart castle is just around the Loch. There is a small shop just down the road next to the Waterfall Cafe which has fantastic fish & chips on Friday evenings. The cottage has everything you need and is very clean and comfortable. We chose this cottage because we love the Highlands in the autumn. We were not disappointed with our choice! When entering you will be pleased to find a clean and cosy ground floor apartment with everything you need for a comfortable short break away from the city. The place was spotless. The bathroom and kitchen were surprisingly modern. The kitchen included all the gadgets and a coffee machine to start your day off right as well as a large prep area for all you chef's. The living room has a very comfortable sofa and lovely fire place for the cold winter evenings. There's nothing like making a fire and sipping some lovely whiskey provided by the hosts after a long trek around the Loch. The location itself boasts incredible views. We went during November, specifically for the wintery views which did not disappoint. Even when it rained one afternoon it completely changed the scenery and made the rain worth it. The area provides amazing walks, local pubs with great food if you wish to eat out. The local shop and cafe are run by some lovely people who have great knowledge of the area. The café make a great burger and chips and also provide good vegetarian options. Getting around is manageable with local transport or on foot. If you wish to travel further out from foyers (10 miles or so) then a car would be beneficial. The trip to Foyers and four nights at Wendy's Place was exactly what me and my girlfriend wanted for our first visit to Scotland. I cannot recommend this place enough. The cherry on top came from being offered a lift by a local whilst waiting for our bus to Inverness on our last day. This is a great example of how friendly Foyers is and exactly why you should book a few day's at Wendy's Place to see for yourself.

About the location

FOYERS

Fort Augustus 13 miles; Inverness 20miles.

Foyers is a pretty highland village situated on the quiet eastern banks of Loch Ness and is accessed via a scenic single track road from Inverness that runs along the side of this famous Loch passing through various small villages until you enter Foyers. The village itself boasts a village shop and Post Office along with a friendly cafe, two hotels with bars and restaurants and an award-winning cafe with shop. Foyers is perhaps most famous for its spectacular 140ft waterfall known as the Falls of Foyers where the River Foyers drops into a gorge leading into Loch Ness. In Victorian times the Falls were very popular and visitors arrived to see them by paddle steamer from Inverness. The road from Inverness into Foyers can be continued through the village and along this quieter side of the world famous Loch and eventually you will arrive in the bustling village of Fort Augustus which has an excellent butcher, nice shops, restaurants and the famous flight of lock gates, often busy with boats. The area is ideal for walkers, cyclist and wildlife spotters and of course the scenery is second to none.
