  • "Amazing!!!"

The cottage was well located, equipped and immaculate. George the host and owner had thought of everything to ensure the cottage was as comfortable as possible for our weeks stay-lovely bed linen and towels with hand wash/shower gel and shampoo in the bathrooms plus the welcome pack of food and drink was amazing and totally unexpected! The garden was lovely too with super sea views and pets were also very well catered for! I am so glad we stayed there and the bar has been set very high for future rentals. Many thanks to George and the Sykes team.

The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped and the owner was very friendly and helpful, my only criticism about the cottage would be that the bedrooms were very cramped and it was a little difficult to get in and out of the beds

  • "One of the best self-catering places we've stayed and in a beautiful setting."

The cottage was very comfortable, well equipped and clean. The owner stopped by at the beginning and end of the stay to make sure we had everything we needed. Very generous supplies on arrival - milk, bread, fruit, local jams and drams from nearby distilleries. Lots of helpful information provided including manuals for dishwasher etc. We hope to return.

  • "We stayed in both cottages, the first week in no."

2, then in no. 1. Both cottages felt very much like a home away from home and were very clean. It was very quiet there and it is possible to see the sea from some of the upper windows. It is only a 3 mins drive to the beautiful beach. The large kitchen is well equipped and has a proper kitchen table with four chairs, an oven, a microwave, a fridge and freezer, a dishwasher and a de gusto coffee machine. The goodies, that we found when we arrived were very much appreciated - thank you very much George and Baiba for these. These included milk, butter, bread, jam, fruit and more. We also found oil, salt, pepper, plenty of de Gusto coffee and tea as well as some other goodies. George was most helpful with advice and directions without being obtrusive. We will miss our few chats. The sitting room with open beams had a comfy sofa and two comfy chairs with foot stools as well as a wood burning stove. All rooms had well functioning radiators and the en-suite bathrooms were beautiful and the well working towel rail was much appreciated. There was even a dog bed and bowls in case that you had forgotten your own. The dog walking area is large and our dog enjoyed it. We hope to be back soon.

  • "The cottage, facilities and area were fantastic."

George was very helpful before we went and whilst there. The only negative I have is the lack of response from Sykes prior to us going. I realise that these have been difficult times, but to not even receive an acknowledgement email I think is very poor show.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage!"

The cottage has been beautifully restored to the highest standard and lacks in nothing. The owner George is an absolute gentleman who doesn't miss a detail. This was by far the best equipped holiday let I've experienced and I cannot fault anything. Even the weather held out! The cottage is set in a peaceful location, within easy walking distance of the coast and many places of interest are accessible by car. Thank you George! I very much hope to come back soon.

The town offers a good selection of shops, restaurants and hotels and everything that visitors to the area could possibly need. The Dunnet beach is a fantastic beach to visit! It is also situated perfectly for a visit to John O'Groats, which is just 14 miles away and Durness, where Smoo Cave, Cape Wrath and the Durness Golf Course are well worth a visit.
