About the property

Tucked away in Scotland’s ‘Highland Capital’ of Inverness, is this superb second-floor apartment, River View, on the banks of the river, a few minutes’ walk from the city centre and from bus and train stations.

Sleeping up to two guests and offering exceptional views of the River Ness, Flat 10 is in the former Bell Tower which was originally built as the West Parish church in 1839, and which still retains many of its original features.

It is within easy reach of the Loch Ness, Tomatin Distillery, the dolphins at Chanonry Point, Culloden Battlefield, the Caledonian Canal, and numerous local walks.

Arriving at the property, there is free parking at the front of the building and convenient permit parking on the street right alongside.

On entering the apartment, you are welcomed into a bright and airy, large open-plan living space with kitchen, dining area and sitting room.

There is a vaulted ceiling and remarkable beams retained from the old church.

The room has glorious views of the river, a stone’s throw away.

Pull forward a chair, and watch for a seal chasing a salmon up river, and enjoy the throng of people crossing the Victorian bridge, or sit back on the sofa with a glass of fizz, catching up on your favourite show on the TV.

Close by are several highly regarded restaurants as well as a supermarket, hot food takeaways, and a newsagent.

Or you may prefer to prepare delicious home-cooked meals in the well-equipped kitchen with handy dishwasher, and settle down to enjoy a romantic meal at the dining table as you raise a toast to a relaxing getaway whilst looking out over the River Ness.

Set out for the day and head into the bustling city of Inverness, where you will be spoilt for choice for things to do!

Visit the historical landmark of Balnain House, a block away down river.

This was originally built by a merchant in 1726, and was used as a field hospital during the Battle of Culloden in 1746.

Or explore up river to the walks on the Ness Islands, passing numerous restaurants and Eden Court theatre.

Venture to the well-known Inverness Castle which overlooks the River Ness, where you can visit The Castle Viewpoint attraction to experience breath-taking panoramic views of the city and its surrounding areas.

Check out art galleries and shops with local produce.

Keen fishermen can purchase a permit to fish for salmon on the River Ness from February to mid-October.

Golfers are spoilt for choice with two courses in Inverness, and nearby Castle Stuart, Fort Augustus, Aigas, Boat of Garten and Dornoch.

Just a short drive away is the legendary Loch Ness, with a variety of boat trips, where you can enjoy captivating scenery whilst trying to spot the legendary monster lurking in the depths.

Travel the short distance to the North Kessock, where you can enjoy gorgeous views along the North Kessock Community Pier and stop for a sweet treat at White Cottage Tea Room whilst you watch the world go by.

About the location

INVERNESS

North Kessock 5.9 miles; Dores 9.2 miles; Tomatin 15.5 miles.

The Capital of the Highlands, the city of Inverness, is the gateway to the countless delights of the Highlands of Scotland. Towering mountains, dark lochs, great forests and precipitous sea cliffs are all within easy reach. Of particular note is the legendary Loch Ness, which is surrounded by some truly breathtaking scenery, although most visitors are usually on the lookout for something a bit more mysterious! Just outside the city is the Culloden Battlefield at Culloden Moor (National Trust). The site of the last major battle fought on British soil, there is an award-winning display depicting the battle, whilst a walk on the field serves as a poignant reminder of the clansmen who lost their lives. Inverness itself has much to offer, museums, an art gallery, fine theatre and leisure facilities, not to mention shops, pubs and restaurants. The River Ness flows through the city and both the river and neighbouring Moray Firth are home to a diverse range of wildlife and marine life including red kites, along with dolphins, which can sometimes be seen from the shore, or on trips from the harbour.
