  • "A wonderful flat, perfectly situated close to the centre of Inverness."

Communications with the owner prior to the visit was lovely, with plenty of advice offered to with regards shopping and places to eat. The flat was spotlessly clean, and was exactly as described on the website. We will miss the stunning view from the living area window, overlooking the River Ness.

But would defiantly book again and would recommend to anyone staying in Inverness or using for a base to explore the area. Thanks for the welcome pack. Kim and Paul

All needs catered for. Fabulous views. Bank holiday weekend was extremely noisy outside until 1am each night with passing footfall of drunk holidaymakers. However rest of holiday very peaceful. Extremely good value. Lovely touches with flowers, bread and butter, tea and coffee on arrival. Have recommended to friend's already.

Hello Elaine, I'm very happy to hear that you enjoyed the flat so much, and many thanks for publishing your feedback. It is lovely looking out of the window at the river, the bridge and the people passing. I regret a town centre flat on a bank holiday is likely to be noisy, and I am sorry you were disturbed. Thank you also for recommending it to friends. Kind regards Helen Property Owner

  • "The flat was lovely."

Beautiful views close to all the city has to offer. The only issue we had was the noise from people on the street. The noise was men shouting and swearing at 3am in the morning which meant we were awake from then as this continued until just before 5am. We know when staying a city to expect some noise but this was excessive. We had to have the windows open as it was very warm aswell. We loved the flat and would consider coming back. We loved how close to the city and tourist attractions. The walk along the river was beautiful

Hi James, I'm so sorry you were disturbed by noise, and indeed it does sound excessive. Anyone reading this should know that it is absolutely fine to phone the police and make a complaint. Being a city centre flat, a bit of noise at the weekend is normal, but those shouting and swearing at 3.00 are comitting a public nuisance. Thank you for your otherwise kind words about the flat. It is a lovely setting, and I agree that going up the river to the islands is one of my favourite walks. Kind regards, Helen Property Owner

Easy parking. Clean and tidy apartment with a good information pack provided. Apartment well equipped and a loaf of bread some butter and a pint of milk provided. Good comms from the owner with any relevant information provided in advance. Only negative is the small size of the bathroom and a lack of shower gel and shampoo being provided. All in all I we would definitely stay again if in the area

  • "Location, Location, Location!"

This was our second visit to River View. We love the location- easy to walk into town, around the river and canal or just sit and look out of the window and people watch. Flat has everything you need, good quality bedding and towels and enough kitchen equipment to cook (although lots of tempting restaurants nearby). Has a really comprehensive visitor guide which inspired us to visit Glen Affric and to go at the right time to see loads of dolphins at Chanonry Point.

Hello Karen, Thank you so much for your enthusiastic feedback. I absolutely agree about the location. I also apprciated your comments on the vistor guide and your visit to Glen Affric. I'm delighted you managed to see the dolphins. We hope you'll come back again. Helen Property Owner

Perfect location just a few minutes walk from train and bus stations, centre of town and supermarkets, but peaceful. Stunning view from living room (we actually found postcards of Inverness featuring just this view!). Spotlessly clean, comfortable, well equipped. Various lighting options to cater for all needs (including reading!). Plenty of storage in bedroom. Arriving after a long journey to find fresh flowers, bread, milk etc. felt so welcoming and set us up for a lovely week. If you get the chance to book this flat for a week, don't! Book it for a month!

Hello Catherine, thank you for a wonderful review. We think the flat is everything you say, but it sounds so much more special coming from a guest, not the owner. We very much appreciate that you took the time to post this. Kind regards, Helen Property Owner

  • "We had a memorable week at River View, the description is accurate (the stairs could be a slight problem for someone with limited mobility), location is ideal for Inverness, Cairngorms, Fort George and of course, Loch Ness itself."

Although we didn’t actually meet the owners, we always felt they were available if we needed them. If we returned to stay in Inverness River View would be our first preference (this is probably the best recommendation we could give it!!), minor note to owner, a hook for clothes in the bathroom would have been nice, but in no way affected our stay. The local advice from Helen at the time of booking and just before we arrived was very helpful in pointing us in the right direction for things to see and places to eat. The whole experience from start to finish exceeded our expectations.

Hello Kevin, Thank you for your feedback. The idea of a hook in the bathroom is a good one. I’m so glad you found the information I gave you was useful. I do try to imagine what will make your visit run really smoothly. Kind regards Helen Property Owner

The property

Tucked away in Scotland’s ‘Highland Capital’ of Inverness, is this superb second-floor apartment, River View, on the banks of the Ness River, at the end of the historic Grieg Street Bridge.

There are numerous restaurants close by and the city centre is only a short walk away from the city centre, bus and train stations.

Flat 10 is in the former Bell Tower which was originally built as the West Parish church in 1839, and its conversion still retains many of its original features, such as the solid old beams and a vaulted ceiling; resulting in a light and airy living space which seems to float above the water.

Inverness is a great centre from which to explore Northern Scotland, it is within easy reach of the Loch Ness, the Caledonian Canal, Culloden Battlefield, the beaches and golf courses of the East, the beaches and golf courses of the East, the spectacular Highland scenery of Glen Affric, and a host of activities in Cairngorms National Park.

The countryside is varied, from the fertile, rolling farmland of the coast to inland moorlands, lochs and rugged mountains; this unspoilt landscape provides a haven for many species of wildlife from red deer and squirrels to the dolphins at Chanonry Point and rare birds such as the Slavonian Grebe.

There are ideas in the Guest Information pack, and the owner likes to make suggestions for your particular interests based on her extensive knowledge, derived from 40 years of living in this area.

There is free parking at the front of the building and convenient permit parking on the street right alongside.

The property truly has the wow factor, which guests will notice as they enter the main room and look out of the floor-length window at the glorious views of the bridge and river; both resting just a stone’s throw away!

Once settled in, pull forward a chair, and watch for a seal chasing salmon upriver, and enjoy the throng of people crossing the Victorian bridge, or sit back on the sofa with a glass of fizz, catching up on your favourite show on the TV.

There are several highly regarded restaurants close by, as well as a supermarket, hot food takeaways, a pharmacist and a newsagent.

You may prefer to prepare delicious home-cooked meals in the well-equipped kitchen with the handy dishwasher and settle down to enjoy a romantic meal at the dining table as you raise a toast to a relaxing getaway whilst watching the river flow past.

Set out for the day and head into the bustling city of Inverness, where you will be spoilt for choice for things to do!

Or venture up-river to the walking trails on the Ness Islands, passing numerous restaurants and the Eden Court Theatre.

Venture to the well-known Inverness Castle which overlooks the River Ness, where you can visit The Castle Viewpoint attraction to experience breath-taking panoramic views of the city and its surrounding areas.

Check out art galleries and shops with local produce.

Keen fishermen can purchase a permit to fish for salmon on the River Ness from February to mid-October.

Golfers are spoilt for choice with two courses in Inverness, and nearby Castle Stuart, Fort Augustus, Aigas, Boat of Garten and Dornoch.

Just a short drive away is the legendary Loch Ness, with a variety of boat trips, where you can enjoy captivating scenery whilst trying to spot the legendary monster lurking in the depths.

Travel the short distance to the North Kessock, where you can enjoy gorgeous views along the North Kessock Community Pier and stop for a sweet treat at White Cottage Tea Room whilst you watch the world go by.

River View is a home-away-from-home where you can enjoy making long-lasting memories with your loved ones.

The Capital of the Highlands, the city of Inverness, is the gateway to the countless delights of the Highlands of Scotland. Towering mountains, dark lochs, great forests and precipitous sea cliffs are all within easy reach. Of particular note is the legendary Loch Ness, which is surrounded by some truly breathtaking scenery, although most visitors are usually on the lookout for something a bit more mysterious! Just outside the city is the Culloden Battlefield at Culloden Moor (National Trust). The site of the last major battle fought on British soil, there is an award-winning display depicting the battle, whilst a walk on the field serves as a poignant reminder of the clansmen who lost their lives. Inverness itself has much to offer, museums, an art gallery, fine theatre and leisure facilities, not to mention shops, pubs and restaurants. The River Ness flows through the city and both the river and neighbouring Moray Firth are home to a diverse range of wildlife and marine life including red kites, along with dolphins, which can sometimes be seen from the shore, or on trips from the harbour.
