  • "We were bit worried at first after reading some of the previous unhappy reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised."

Communication was OK, the place itself on a really quiet back street with nice neighbours, clean and as described inside. We could tell that the owners did address some of the previous concerns - new beds in the twin room, better heaters etc. We couldn't really find anything to complain and were happy the whole week we stayed.

Thanks for your feedback and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay! Property Owner

  • "I had a lovely stay in this Delightful Holiday Home with my Boxer Dog Ruby."

It was very comfortable, clean and so close to the Shops, Pub and fine local Walks. There was plenty of Space and the Gardens right outside were very pleasant with numerous species of birds seen. A very good TV is always a bonus after long walks and the Kitchen was really good. Add to that the Bed was very comfortable and yes I will return in the future!

  • "As with all holiday let's that are dependent on others for maintenance etc, there are always so."

E minor inconsistencies. The owners were quick in their response about the broken bed except fact, no complaints at all there. However the silly niggle over someone to replace a broken screw in one of the living room chairs was eventually resolved by me buying a screw and fixing it myself as the handyman contacted several times by the owners, never turned up. That in no way spoiked our 4 week long stay. Sitting down in the evening as it snowed outside with the wood burner gave out a friendly glow is a memory that will endure for the rest of our lives. Highly recommended.

  • "I booked this cottage 2 years ago but was prevented by Covid so had to rearrange."

Prior to going away my friend noticed some adverse reviews from earlier this year - heating not working, poorly equipped kitchen. I rang to ask what had been done about this and was assured it was all attended to. This was not the case. When there I used the caretaker contact numbers to try to get someone out to look at the heating but they did not respond to my call or text. One day, to dry our wet coats and boots I resorted to leaving the oven on with the door open. Apart from the above, the cooker is old and the oven doesn’t reach the correct temperature. One of the metal beds rattles etc. Some of the towels had bleach stains. None of this is acceptable when you consider what was paid for the accomodation.

Thank you for your feedback, which has been duly noted. The property is heated by stand alone electric heaters in every room, independently operated by controls on each heater. All heaters are regularly checked and maintained, and all were fully operational at the time of your stay. In addition there is a wood burner in the lounge. The cooker was also fully operational during your stay, however given the age of the appliance, a new cooker is scheduled for installation during November 2021. All linen is regularly checked and replaced. We very much hope to welcome you to Church View again in the future. Property Owner

  • "We have stayed here previously and then we raised a number of issues - some of which we fixed ourselves - that could vastly improve the cottage."

In particular, the mattresses are tired and quite uncomfortable. Although there are some mattress protectors one of the singles is very badly stained. The linen provided is tired and of poor quality and as for the little throws, given presumably for extra warmth if needed, they are very poor quality. There is still no blind in the double bedroom and this is needed because the street light is directly outside. As for the kitchen equipment, (we mentioned this before) it is poor. The knives are not sharp, there are insufficient pots and pans and baking dishes. We had insufficient tea towels and the oven tray is filthy. The cooker is old and even though we can cope with that, an extractor fan would be useful! All in all, it is a pity because without too much work it could be a very nice and comfortable place. It is a very convenient location and although we'd love to book again because we often go to Kingussie we regret we will have to try and find a more comfortable and better equipped place.

Thank you for your feedback, which has been duly noted and specific points are addressed below. The double bed mattress was replaced in May this year and each mattress has a clean protector for each guests stay. All bed linen is regularly checked and replaced. Throws are decorative, but also regularly checked and replaced. We will monitor customer feedback with regard to a blackout blind in the double bedroom, at present there are no plans to provide this. Kitchen equipment has been added to and upgraded. A new cooker is scheduled for installation during November 2021. We very much hope to welcome you to Church View again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Good location for exploring the outdoors."

Cottage situated in a quiet area of the village with easy access to local amenities it was clean and adequately equipped. Nice to have small private garden area. Good WiFi signal. Easy on street parking. Heaters in the cottage were difficult to set up and no instruction manual available. So glad my elderly Mother was unable to come with us as she would not have managed the stairs up to bedroom and bathroom. There are two very sharp turns in the stair with very narrow steps and no additional handrail - would certainly be challenging for some people. No handrail to assist getting in/out of shower/bath. We only used double bedroom and found the double bed rather small and uncomfortable - probably not helped by a paper thin mattress protector. This however did not stop us from enjoying our holiday in Kingussie and surrounding area!

Thank you for your feedback, we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. There is an instruction manual provided for the heaters however we are unable to comment on its whereabouts at the time of your stay - it has now been returned to the kitchen drawer with the other instruction manuals. The double mattress was replaced in May 2021, and is a standard 4ft 6 inches. All linen is regularly checked and replaced. We very much hope to welcome you to Church View again in the future. • "Bedding was ripped and stained."

Cooker and oven needs updated. More utensils and pans needed for cooking. For example kitchen tongs spatula’s sharpener for knives as they were blunt. Bed was a very small double and not the most comfortable. The house was freezing when we arrived and no heating on before us arriving in minus temperatures. Storage heaters so took 24 hours to heat up! Only 2 logs for wood burning stove. So had to drive to Newtonmore to get logs as was so cold when we arrived. Shower wasn’t very powerful. Everything else was fine with the cottage.

  • "Enjoyed our holiday there."

The cottage was very roomy and comfortable. The cooker was a bit old and solid hobs were very slow. A hand rail on the bath to help get in and out of the shower would be a good idea. Otherwise a very well equipped and positioned cottage

  • "Obviously a very much cared for and looked after family property with some well thought out extra touches like the local maps and guidebooks."

Nice and bright and spacious with plenty of room. When we arrived it was rather cold and with a slight damp smell as if not recently stayed in. We soon got it heated and all fine. However the electrics did not all function and we could not work out how some of the radiators were timed. Also the lighting in the kitchen was very inadequate after dark. Despite these items, which could probably be remedied reasonably easily by an electrician's visit, we enjoyed our stay very much.

Good sized rooms, lovely wood burner in sitting room & comfy snug off the kitchen. The main thing I would improve is the shower apart from that it was a lovely holiday let. Beautiful walks around Kingussie, I would certainly go back.
