What an amazing cottage, I feel it is the best one I have ever stayed in over all the years of holiday cottages. Was so clean and modern with everything you could ever possible need! Really did feel like home everyday returning from our adventures to chill the evening in, as very relaxing with comforatble furnture and beds. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone and would love to re-visit it again in the future. Overall 5 STARS +++++

  • "From the moment we arrived at Blantyre Cottage we were really impressed, the arrival process was really easy following a long 8 hour journey from us, the cottage was easy to find, keys easily available and when we opened the doors we were really chuffed."

All the essentials already there for us to use, which saved us the stress of rushing to the shop and meant we could settle the kids properly. Nice outdoor area which caught the sun in the afternoon too! Everything was easy to access, rooms all set up lovely too! The cottage was lovely and clean, had fantastic facilities in throughout including a TV with full now TV which was a lovely surprise as we didn’t realise this when booking and was great for the kids! This is also the first place I’ve stayed which has also provided plates / bowls for children as well as adults meaning we avoided the stress of the kids potentially dropping anything! Location was lovely with shops / takeaways nearby if required. Overall for us this was perfect, we were up to see family who were only 8 minutes around the corner but didn’t have room for all of us! Rest assured you will 100% get another booking from us for next year!

The breakfast bar was probably our favourite spot at mealtimes, watching the golfers across the road from very comfortable, easy to access (we are a bit creaky in the joints) swing seats. It proved an ideal base for visiting friends and family. Even the sometimes busy adjacent NC500 could prove interesting, sports car, motorcycle and luxury motor home spotting!

It was let down however by arriving to find the cottage had not been cleaned. Despite all the 'blurb 'on the website about extra cleaning requirements due to The Recent Pandemic. This was however quickly rectified after texting the contact number provided, it would have been nice to have had an answer to the text to tell us what was happening and that the cleaners who were very apologetic were on their way. The cottage was lovely and clean, decorated nicely and really liked the fact it was all on one level. It is located in easy reach of many places we wanted to visit. This was our first holiday with our dog, it was great to be able to take him with us. The only thing I would say is the garden wall is quite low and would easily be jumped, so we had to make sure he was on a lead when out in the garden. Other than that it was great!

  • "The cottage was lovely."

Very well appointed and cleaned to a very high standard. However, although it did 'overlook' a golf course this was across an extremely busy road with lots of HGV traffic. This did not make for a peaceful break and made sleeping in very difficult. I would question the scenic walk to the village - heavy traffic and a lot of dog mess. Really feel listings need to be more honest- 2nd time this has happened in a Sykes property.

Except 1. No tumble dryer as advertised 2. Although reassured it was a quiet road, it was busy 3. Needs a dish washer for that standard of property 4. Sitting area on the road boundary needs screening from hgvs, cars and people to be able to use that area.

The property

Enjoying a perfect position for exploring the wonder of the Scottish Highland is this charming, detached abode, Blantyre Cottage.

Situated within the small village of Muir of Ord, this all ground-floor holiday accommodation is perfect for families to explore this magical countryside and visit the towns of Beauly, Dingwall, and the capital city of the Highlands, Inverness.

Enter Blantyre Cottage by the main door at side of the building making your way into the warmth of the sitting/dining room, where a charming coal-effect fire offers a sense of tranquillity during the cold winter months.

Sink into the sofa with a good book in hand to unwind or while away a couple of hours with your loved ones at the dining table, playing a board game brought from home.

Look forward to cooking up a storm within the well-equipped kitchen, retrieving ingredients from the fridge/freezer and making use of the mod cons, and the breakfast bar makes a great spot for enjoying a glass of wine whilst dinner simmers on the hob.

Completing the interior of this all ground-floor property is the double bedroom and a twin bedroom with a zip/link feature, allowing you to amend the set up to suit the needs of your group.

There is an external utility, so that you can get laundry done after a muddy walk around, with space for storing your bikes and other outdoor equipment. Within the garden, enjoy your morning coffee whilst overlooking the golf course, or enjoy a spot of alfresco dining while your canine companion has a run around. Enjoy a scenic stroll into the centre of the village, home to a selection of shops for picking up the essentials, a bakery, a café, a takeaway and a number of hotels with bars, for that well-deserved beverage.

Attractions within the town include the neighbouring golf course, the 17th Century Kilcoy Castle and the award-winning Glen Ord Distillery Visitor Centre, famous for producing the only remaining single malt scotch whisky distillery on the Black Isle. Historical landmarks, which are worth a visit within the area, include the Touchstone Maze, the ruins of the Red Castle in Killearnan and the Beaufort Castle, a Baronial-style mansion built in 1880.

For those seeking walking routes, you can discover the Dunglass Island, stroll around Loch Ussie or enjoy the beautiful scenery of Reelig Glen. Alternatively, travel to Inverness, where you will find a larger selection of amenities and can admire the magnificent architecture of Inverness Castle before touring Inverness Cathedral.

Blantyre Cottage promises a peaceful escape that the whole family can enjoy.
