  • "We loved our stay in 59 Society Street, it is a lovely little cottage in a great location only a very short walk to the beach."

We would love to go back as my brother lives in Nairn and it suited us very well. Our only request to make it perfect would be …… the mattresses could be better in both bedrooms and the big sofa in the lounge could do with new base cushions to make that comfy. Finally as it would be difficult to heat the lounge with the radiator alone, a few more logs and coal would be appreciated in the winter months. We couldn’t get logs from the places suggested in the cottage. These things wouldn’t stop us going back to the cottage but they would make a difference to the quality of our stay and the number of stars we would award it.

Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed the cottage, I loved it when I lived there. I'm sorry the mattresses weren't comfortable for you. The double mattress was replaced recently. I'll look into replacing the settee cushions. I normally don't open in the winter as it's just not cost effective at the rental Sykes charge for winter let's. Logs and coal are sold at most garages and supermarkets. There should have been enough for your first evening, usually holiday let's only supply a 'starter supply' and due to fire risk and storage issues it's not possible to leave a larger quantity in the house, sorry. 20.02.24 I've ordered new base cushions for the big sofa. I've been to Swansons and Sainsbury's, both have logs. Property Owner

Thank you for your feedback. It would be helpful to know the reasons for a reduced score for comfort, maintenance and faciities. With more detailed information I can endeavour to improve these points, particularly maintenance and facilities, comfort can be subjective. Property Owner

  • "A very pleasant cottage ideally located in Nairn, very close to the beach and harbour."

Everything was fine, including being clean and tidy. The bathroom and kitchen are nicely modern and the cottage has all the basics needed. Given the surge pricing, understandable due to the times we are in and early August stay, it’s fair we also judge to slightly higher standards. We believe it is not unreasonable to expect a slightly higher quality of furnishings, tableware, an ageing TV that doesn’t come to life randomly, and more than the one perfunctory dishwasher tablet. The abundance of notes explaining away the various foibles as to the working of various things was a little discomfiting also. That said, these points are feedback points from us, we had a lovely holiday and no doubt you will also.

Thank you for your comments, which I take very seriously. I’m glad you enjoyed your holiday. I have discussed your feedback with Sykes who point out your feedback is extraordinary. 59 Society Street is a ‘self-catering’ establishment catering for all kinds of people with a myriad tastes, needs, desires and priorities. I endeavor to meet these requirements but as you can imagine it is impossible to please everyone. The safety of guests during Covid 19 has been a priority in recent months and I see you agree with a score of 100% for cleanliness. Your unease regarding the ‘abundance’ of notes is unfortunate. They are for there convenience and comfort of all guests. Property Owner

  • "The Cottage was really lovely and tastefully done."

It was more spacious and more well equipped than expected. If you are worried that you need to pack something, just ask, it is probably there. Amazing location. The East Beach was our favourite. We were able to wade out quite far at low tide and saw dolphins. Easy journey to Loch Ness, Culloden, castles and more.

  • "Given a low cleanliness mark, the place was spotless however when we went to use the dishes some of the plates stacked lower In the pile in the cupboard looked Like they had been put away dirty."

This was easily fixed. To be fair the owner may not have been aware of this. But enjoyed our stay and would consider going back to the same cottage.

  • "59 Society Street is a delightful and sympathetic restoration of a traditional fishertown house that provides all the convenience of modern living but retains the feel of the original house."

The bedrooms are bright, but also cosy, and the beds are very comfortable. The modern kitchen is excellent. The settees in the sitting room are getting a bit tired, and not the most comfortable, but it is a lovely space to spend time with friends or family. Location is ideal, close to the sea and the links, and there are any number of excellent places to eat or drink nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return some day.
