  • "We stayed at Fishertown House for a week to celebrate my husband’s 70th birthday with family members."

I don’t think we’ve ever stayed in a holiday home that was so well equipped and provisioned. The situation is perfect, with lovely views over the river and so central. The cottage is very comfortable with everything you could need. We arranged a Sainsbury delivery to coincide with our arrival and can also highly recommend Clarks’ the butchers on Leopold Street, we ordered a delicious lasagne for the 1st evening they also do single portions of various meals which take a few mins in the microwave. Nairn is a lovely Highland town with beautiful beaches and near so many wonderful places to visit. Sykes Cottages are extremely efficient and courteous to deal with and wouldn’t hesitate to book with them again.

  • "We really liked the property."

It is in an excellent position for Nairn town centre (2 mins walk) and also the beautiful Nairn beach (5 - 10 min walk). The house had everything we needed as two families (7 people). All the facilities were good and clean. Beds comfortable. Showers with good power. Comfortable lounge with views across the river. We didn't have any issue with the parking (or neighbour) even though we had a 9 seater van. We chose to park in the unmarked areas under the trees next to the river rather than directly behind the property (in line with the garage). The location was great for exploring. We went to Loch Ness, Foyers, Fort Augustus, Inverness, Culbin Forest, Chanonry Point, Aviemore, Tomatin Distillery. Unfortunately Cawdor Castle was closed as out of season. In Nairn there's a lovely bookshop and a few independent shops. We had a lovely Chinese, Curry and Fish & Chips! Plus a quick trip to Jackos Bar (a few doors down from the house) and visited the cafe at the harbour too. We were very lucky with the weather as Storm Babet had been active the week before but Nairn lived up to its claim of the warmest and sunniest part of Scotland! The owners turned up as we were leaving and they are a lovely couple - it was a pleasure to bump into them and have a quick chat.

  • "Beautiful and well equipped house that had all we needed to make it a comfortable holiday."

Spotlessly clean with attention to detail. Maybe could do with more detailed instructions of how to work the heating. As mentioned previously in feedback parking appears to be an issue. There is room in the garage for two cars, although cars parked adjacent make it difficult to manoeuvre in and out, and there is also parking space outside. Met the “self appointed parking police”. …. Crazy, wavy haired lady that basically didn’t want cars there at all. Obviously not enough to do with her time than sit and watch who is coming and going and popping notes on windscreens! She didn’t bother me as I took no nonsense from her. We have already booked to go back again. Great location. Central for everywhere. You won’t be disappointed with this wee gem. Can’t wait to get back!

Everything has been well thought through from the decor to having all appliances and entertainment within the house that you need to have a great holiday. It’s spotlessly clean and bright. It’s in a great location not only to explore Nairn but also the surrounding area. After staying at Fishertown house we wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else and will definitely be back. 100% recommend it. Alistair

  • "Property was very clean and smelt lovely and fresh!"

Had everything that we needed and the child's stuff, games, highchair etc was super handy! The lovely welcome pack you left us was a nice touch! A second stair gate and a basic baby monitor would be great as one toddler was on the top floor, the other on the 2nd. The reason for the low score on comfort was the property was unbelievably hot, with the thermometer frequently reading over 25 degrees, that's with all windows open/blinds closed. As others have said, parking was an issue, we couldn't use the garage as our car was to high with a roof box on, we hadn't been in the door long trying to get unpacked when a neighbour knocked on the door asking us to move the car, not what we needed when we'd been up since 5.30am with 3 tired children in tow!

  • "The neighbour wasn't happy with my parking position, despite it not blocking her garage, and came around to tell me, and put a note on my windscreen."

They seem to believe they have rights they don't have. WiFi not very reliable - constant issues with TV connectivity. Fridge needs incorporating into kitchen area. Otherwise everything was great, and locals are very helpful and friendly

The place is beautifully appointed and central within Nairn, both walking distance from the sea and the center of town. The parking was easy, both inside the garage and just outside by the river. The main room was comfortable for our group of 5, and there were plenty of bathrooms throughout the house. Overall, we would visit again!

Its location is excellent, close to local beautiful landscapes and easy to explore the region from it. There is a COOP in the corner and a major Sainsbury’s 3 minutes by car. No need to access the host, as the instructions are clear and simple. But still he was available and very kind even to change a broken glass by a pint of Guinness!! Little things make big difference. • "We had a great stay at the lovely property."

Good location, everything we needed was in the house and everywhere was nice and clean ! We arrived late in the afternoon, we travelled with two cars, two couples as we were touring Scotland. It was our first time in the property so we parked in front of the garage to unload. As we got out of the casr we were immediatley approached by the neigbour to kindly move the car as her father always parks there ? After parking one car in the garage we moved the other car further up the small lane only to be politely confronted by another neighbour about how we should use a carpark a few 100 yards away as the car may get "damaged" if it was left there (outside her house) Its obvious the people living on the street are well versed when two cars arrive they jump on you quickly. We found it to be intimidating (we dont like upsetting locals but we were unaware of the "rules" until reading the pack inside the house). The experience did leave us a little shell shocked TBH, they obviously dont like having a holiday let on the street and it may be worth the owners having a word with both of them to ask them to wait until the people are actually in the property before they start approaching anyone about where to park. Difficult one to manage. We could of legally parked anywhere along the lane but chose not to do so, some people may well not do that ?

“So you’re slumming it down in Fishertown?” he asks with a cheeky glint in his eye. He knew only too well this was a great area to stay in Nairn. Close to an immaculate beach, right by a beautiful river walk and near to some great places to eat…..and that’s before you get into the house! The house itself is just perfect. Very well presented, clean and fully equipped, it is situated in a great part of town. The owners have clearly considered their guests’ needs and have made every effort to ensure our stay is comfortable and relaxed. Our dog loved it - so much that he lay on his back up against the living room window on the morning we were due to leave so we couldn’t put on his harness - he didn’t want to leave! Of course we want to return - it was truly fabulous.

It's a lovely house, super clean (really important at the moment especially!) and great location. There are stairs (lots of) so if you're not mobile, it might cause some problems, but otherwise we would absolutely recommend it as a holiday cottage. We rent across the UK and this is one of the best cottages we've ever had. There's loads to do nearby, and just walking on Nairn beach is a great day out. OneOneTwo - a deli on the high street - does amazing food and wine, and is 3 mins walk away.
