The property

This 'postcard pretty' white wooden cottage occupies a quiet and private setting in the grounds of Holly Lodge where the owner resides.

Set away from the main house visitors wlll appreciate the lovely views from the cottage and the spacious decked terrace to the front which is an ideal place for a morning coffee and a quiet read.

The gardens to the front are very well maintained and there is a quiet seating area below the cottage to be enjoyed.

The comfortable sitting/dining room is cosy and smart and the neat well-equipped kitchen ensures that visitors are able to prepare a meal easily.

The bedroom, like the sitting room, has far reaching views to the front and a modern en-suite shower room.

It is just a pleasant downhill stroll into the smart spa village of Strathpeffer which has good local services and plenty of hotels where a bar meal can be enjoyed along with a dram!

For walkers and cyclists the area is rich in pathways and cycle tracks and dog walkers will love the woods close by.

Strathpeffer is also a great base for those who want to explore the unspoilt beauty of the Highlands and from here a day trip across the sea to Skye is easily achieved or perhaps focus on the north east coastline with its pretty fishing villages.

The capital of the Highlands, Inverness is just a short drive away and here guests can shop till they drop or drive around the edge of Loch Ness, for a bit of monster hunting.

So much to do and see and this charming and welcoming cottage is sure to be a real home from home.

About the location

Inverness 20 miles.

Often compared to a Bavarian Mountain resort, the picturesque spa village of Strathpeffer owes its growth to the discovery of water springs during the 1700s, and was declared in 1819 to be the healthiest drinking water in Britain! The original Spa Pavilion has been magnificently restored after a period of disuse and now serves as a venue for a variety of events, including concerts, dances, dramas and exhibitions. The former Victorian railway station, which in times past brought many visitors from near and far, has now been beautifully restored to house craft workers and their shops, and is also home to the Highland Museum of Childhood. Visit the restored Pump house (also a Tourist Information point), take a walk along a forest track, or enjoy the views from the nearby pictish hill fort at Knockfarrel. Whatever you decide there's plenty on offer for all the family.
