  • "Lovely, well equipped and very clean property, you could not want for anything more in the Auld Kirk."

Located in a beautiful area surrounded by amazing scenery in a very tranquil and peaceful spot. This is an ideal location for tranquility, relaxing and recharging your inner self. It was so good, we've booked to go back again.

  • "The Auld Kirk is spacious and uncluttered but still has a warm comfortable homely feel as soon as you walk in."

The house is spotlessly clean and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need for your self catering holiday. The only problem we had was finding the Wi-Fi password but we laughed when Ronnie pointed to it on the base of the router. Owners Janette and Ronnie were absolutely lovely and we look forward to seeing them again when we come back to The Auld Kirk at "Trantlebeg" xx

Thank you Cynthia for your kind remarks we will look forward to you coming back. Property Owner

All the rooms were very spacious , comfortable & very clean. There was everything & more you needed for a great holiday. In the family bathroom in the shower there's somewhere to put your shower gel , shampoo & conditioner so you don't have to put them on the floor , this would be a great in the en-suite rooms as well.

Thank you for your kind remarks..Have thought about shampoo holders etc but didn’t action it but will do so for next session -thank you. Property Owner

  • "Overall lovely time and lovely property."

Our only criticism is when we arrived we could not make or have a meal because there was no cutlery ie: no knives, forks, spoons this was very disappointing as we were not informed of this and could have brought our own.also we saw no information on how to use the heating as some nights were cold for our 1 year old grandson.

So sorry you did not find the cutlery which was below the hob -a drawer within the top drawer and easily accessible. I would have been very happy to have sorted all your queries if you had phoned me .Meantime thank you for choosing the property and taking the time to make a review. Property Owner

  • "Beautifully restored property in a great location, especially as we were fishing River Halladale for the week."

Only caveat relates go fishing ... as fishing let's run to Saturday midnight, a Sunday to Sunday cottage let is much preferable. Owner might consider this as many anglers come to Strath every season April to September, and having to exit cottage Saturday morning definite detriment. I will probably rent again as property so fine, and location mid- river excellent, but Sunday let would be icing on cake!

  • "An excellent property in this remote location in northern Scotland."

The cottage had everything one could possibly need, except food, of course. The cupboards and utilities are all well stocked with utensils, cutlery, even provisions like tea, coffee, sugar, salt & pepper along with dishwasher & washing machine pods. There's even a tumble dryer if you need one. It is immaculately clean, well furnished with three bathrooms! Due to its remoteness, there is a lot of driving involved to get to other locations but a day trip to Orkney can be easily managed with a bit of planning. Plenty of walks nearby. It is a very good base to explore this region of Scotland. Will definitely return another time.

I have worked in holiday cottages for the last ten years and this was as good as I have ever stayed in. We loved the extras provided such as the odd blanket, the roasting tins, the wok, the slow cooker used twice and wine glasses that met our high expectations with red wine. I needed a bigger colinder/strainer but that's been difficult to find in Sutherland as a sieve seems to be OK but I needed a big one for rice, pasta and washing the spuds. No worries we were very happy with our stay at the Old Kirk and ideal for 3 manic fisherman.

Really lovely to stay in although the owner Mrs Morrison is quite abrupt, rules to house she leaves are "don't do this", "dont do that" no have a nice stay as everywhere else we have stayed. There is a slow cooker which we used the night before we left, to which we left in soak, all house was tidy and had an abrupt message after we left as to she does not do dishes! Apart from this had a lovely stay the views are really amazing with loads of deer rabbits and sheep on the way there
