  • "The facilities were adequate and met our needs well although some might find the lack of a shower problematic."

The accommodation is basic but a little dated in presentation, but practical, clean and tidy. The accommodation doesn't have any internet access so sending me leaving instructions to my email address the night before we left was pretty pointless and would have been better sent to me before we went on holiday. As a company Sykes have proved reliable and helpful and I would not hesitate to use them again in the future.

  • "The cottage was clean and tidy."

However, there is no 'over the bath shower' as in the description, only a rubber shower hose that does not fit on the taps. Someone from another cottage was parked outside the sitting room window of our cottage - we felt this intruded into our privacy. As a previous review said, there was only 2 mugs, glasses, etc, which meant you had to wash up a late evening drink in order to be ready for a cuppa in the morning. We felt that the towel radiator in the bathroom was dangerous - although there is a small sign saying that it is hot, I came away with 3 burns on my arms from putting things over the towel rail. The storage heater in the bathroom is impossible to use - it's right next to the toilet, so for any heat you need the towel rail on. For an older person, perhaps unsteady on their feet, there is a real risk of serious injury.

Thank you for your feedback and the owner has said that it is a shame that you did not contact her during your stay as she would have been more than happy to assist you. She has confirmed that the lodge doesn't have a shower and it is not advertised as such ( Bathroom with bath, basin, and WC). They have checked and the rubber shower hose does fit the taps and they were only a call away to assist you if you had difficulty, as there are contact numbers in the property for guests to call with any problems. There are dedicated areas to park, and you could have parked your car in front of the window as there are plenty of spaces available. There is a sign as you mentioned that the towel rail gets hot, and there is also a storage heater in the bathroom with a sign on how to operate this. Most guests use one or the other. The owner thanks you again for your feedback and wants every guest to have a lovely stay. There are staff available to assist with any issues that you may have during your holiday. Property Owner

  • "The fact that there is really only a very narrow, short bath and not enough hot water."

No instructions (other than washing machine) or tips on what to do/where to go in the area. Pretty limited cutlery/glasses - no spare if you wanted a small glass by your bed for example. The single beds have duvets that don’t cover them so nights were chilly, even though it’s summer! No blanket or other covering to help. I’m 5’ 6” and I struggled to fit in the bath or get enough cover from the duvet. My poor husband had a miserable time and he is not even 6 foot!
