  • "Very nice property, comfortable and well equipped ."

Lovely view from the front windows . Good position in the village.

  • "Flat looks lovely and was fine, but the furniture was rather shakily assembled and not all usable."

Also, is there a reason why you don't provide salt and pepper? Maybe even cooking oil? Most properties do, and it is very much appreciated

  • "This is a great, spacious, well equipped, top floor apartment in a lovely old building situated close to the river with lovely views."

Both bedrooms have en-suites which is a huge bonus. Allocated parking spaces is fantastic too. However, the property was a huge let down because of the noisy building site immediately to the front of the property where 5 houses are being built. Going by the Sykes website, this work was supposed to be finished by end of July - we booked back in March and were never informed this work would be ongoing, otherwise we would have booked somewhere else. We arrived on the 4th Aug and the noise started just after 8am every day (including the Saturday after we arrived), windows couldn't be left open due to the noise, and the constant noise spoiled our holiday. This made out stay stressful, so much so that we came home a day early - not the peaceful, de-stress holiday we had hoped for unfortunately. Because of this, we've asked for some compensation/refund, but we're not hopeful.

  • "Directions were incorrect."

Estuary Drive not on any maps and it came off Riverside Road, not Marine Road as stated. There were 4 keys safes on the fence, none labelled, so trial and error to find the right one. Then there were 3 keys in the safe, none labelled, Then it took at least 4 attempts to unlock the door, even when we found the right key. It made a stressful start to our break. There was a light out in the ensuite bathroom so it was bit dark in there. No recycling facilities appeared to be available. Otherwise a lovely place with stunning views, and well equipped

  • "A lovely flat, clean and comfortable."

Nicely decorated and furnished, and fairly well equipped.

  • "The apartment was reasonably comfortable."

Minor points were that some food had been left (eg 4 eggs which we threw out as we didn't know their age, frozen peas, the same), there was only one parking space which did not bother us as we had only one car but others might have two cars, the TV equipment took a little bit of getting used to, to complicated for us in our 70s, the Yale lock on the door was irrelevant, but I felt it should be closed which I tried to do unsuccessfully before I realised it was irrelevant (perhaps it should be removed). I hope this helps, Barry.

  • "The property was not what we expected."

I will be putting a letter of complaint in. Main issues are There was no mention of the building work going on right in front of the property. Basically spent a week next to a building site. Noisy Mon-Fri with limited road access to the property. Listed as 2 parking spaces, there was only 1 designated place. Poorly maintained property, damp on the wall, drawers that wouldn't open and close properly, shower that had mould and also leaked. I enquired about safe place to store bikes, the info we got back was wrong. The place we were told could store bikes didn't have room. The bin store near the entrance didn't have bins in it but looks like several weeks of rubbish bags dumped in there. A local cat had great fun ripping open the bags. Not hygienic. I would never have booked this accommodation if the listing had been accurate or at least being warned about the building work.

Thank you for your feedback, We emailed our guests to advise of the works, we are sorry that you didn't notice this prior to your booking. Sunset Point is always professionally cleaned but when I received the complaint I immediately contacted my cleaners who gave that shower a deep bleach clean to clean any traces of mildew which may have been present. We also occasionally had problems with bins due to neighbouring properties using ours and not emptying theirs in peak season. The bin store has now been moved nearer the road to allow the council to collect directly, and a new bin store is being built in a different position. Yes, we always do maintenance work over the quiet season to ensure all is ready for the spring and summer business. Best Regards Property Owner

It appeared refuse collection had not been made for weeks. Someone needs to take responsibility for this.
