  • "A beautiful cottage in the heart of Alnwick."

Very close to the centre, but on a quiet little street, so barely any noise. Decorated for Christmas, very clean, very cosy. It was just what we needed. Alnmouth on the coast is only a 10 minute drive away.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We’re so happy that enjoyed your break at Dodd’s Nook. Property Owner

  • "We stayed at Dodd's Nook in December 2021."

It was a nice, cosy holiday cottage within easy walking distance from the centre of Alnwick. The owner had decorated it for Christmas which was nice too. Had all the facilities needed to cook our own food, rest after our day out and watch TV. We much enjoyed our stay and would recommend Dodd's Nook.

Although a peaceful setting, the cottage rests in the heart of Alnwick and close to fantastic amenities, making this a wonderful base for two couples or a group of four.

An allocated parking space is available on a nearby residential street, before heading down the pedestrianised Upper Dodds Lane to find your home-away-from-home.

Be welcomed by an attractive, open-plan living space that offers rest and refuge after the day's adventures; impressive artwork and décor makes Dodds Nook a homely, characterful setting and is also a pet-friendly cottage, welcoming two well-behaved dogs of small-to-medium size, so you don't have to leave your canine companion at home!

The group's chef can prepare a delicious evening meal in the kitchen area, equipped with electric oven, hob and a fridge with ice box, whilst the rustic dining table with bench seating is set for four guests.

Switch on the radio or TV and sink into the plush corner sofa, whilst the warmth of the electric fire adds extra comfort on colder days.

After trekking along Northumberland's coast, a contemporary bathroom with bath and shower over welcomes you to toast your towel on the heated towel rail and freshen up for the evening.

About the location

Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
