This beautiful cottage is a short walk away from the centre of Alnwick, a bustling market town boasting a selection of supermarkets, cafés, and traditional fish and chip shops where you can sample locally-sourced produce.

Make sure to visit the dramatic Alnwick Castle, a must-see destination for movie buffs, as you can book tours of the grounds and discover many filming locations used for the Harry Potter films and Downtown Abbey.

Explore the Northumberland Coast Area of Natural Beauty (AONB) and the Northumberland National Park, offering picturesque walking trails, cycling routes and birdwatching opportunities for nature lovers, with access to charming villages such as Alnmouth and Bamburgh.

If you're fancying a day out to a fun-filled city hub, travel over to Newcastle and spend a day socialising at exciting bars, award-winning restaurants, and an abundance of high street shopping, or tour around the iconic Angel of the North sculpture.

Further afield, you can even venture up north to Scotland and catch a train to Edinburgh, home to the famous and dramatic Edinburgh Castle, alternatively find attractions such as sampling beverages at the Scotch Whisky Experience, strolling along the Royal Mile, or taking part in one of the many historic ghost tours that the city has to offer.

About the location

ALNWICK

Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
