.. what a fantastic location, (both in terms of where it is in the country, and where it is in the village) and great facilities! One very slight issue was one of the lights in the master bedroom wasn't working, but if that's all we have to moan about then you can guess we had a pretty good break! Thanks very much

  • "The house is well designed and very comfortable."

The kitchen was well equipped with good oven and large fridge freezer and plenty of crockery, glasses etc. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean. Sadly what let it down was the disappointment re cleanliness in the kitchen/sitting room on our arrival especially given the emphasis on this in the description and in the instructions to us both before and as a firm reminder before leaving. We had to vacuum the rug due to a lot of crumbs, the dark sofa and arm of another sofa were covered in dog hair and numerous articles in the kitchen cupboards needed washing before we could use them including baking trays, cutlery, egg cups, some crockery, plastic plates. I know that people, are not allowed to have their dogs on the furniture but if they do let them it's not for the next people to deal with. As someone else has suggested the pans and baking trays, are very tired. Such a shame as a lovely house. We spent over an hour cleaning thoroughly to make sure that the next people wouldn't have the same experience. Good to have parking and a garden. Craster a delight as always. We had excellent walks to Dunstanburgh, beach day at Bamburgh and a lovely walk and tea at Hawick Hall Gardens. We couldn't use the coast bus due to my husbands need to isolate but it is a fabulous service whuch means you can leave your car at the house. A good meal at the Jolly Fisherman, prebooking well worth it but the fish and chips from the van there were disappointing. Excellent shop at the smokery worth supporting including milk, bread, teabags etc as well as lovely fish.

Thank you for your feedback as we appreciate the positive and negatives as it helps us to ensure that the property is of the high standard expected by our guests. We are extremely sorry that the house was not cleaned to its usual high standards and have now raised this issue with our cleaning company that we employ. We are in the process of replacing pots pans and kitchenware and apologise is you felt these were substandard. We are pleased that overall you enjoyed your stay at Hightide House and thought Craster and surrounding areas were a lovely place to Holiday. Property Owner

There was plenty of space to enjoy some peace and quiet when we needed it! The beds were the most comfortable we have had in a holiday home for a very long time. We were not blessed with great weather so there were few opportunities to sit in the small but really lovely garden area. If there had been my only suggestion would be to have an outdoor table and chairs. I would certainly recommend High Tide House to friends and would hope to return ourselves one day.

  • "We had a good stay but given the price I was most disappointed that the sauce pans were old and the non stick scratched off, also we needed a bigger pan."

It was annoying that you didn't leave us enough dish washer tablets and we had to go out and buy some. The remote control on the Tele didn't work very well.

So pleased to hear you had a good stay at High Tide House. Thank you for letting us know about the pans and we will look at replacing them and the variety of sizes. I apologise if there wasn’t enough dishwasher tablets as we always try to leave plenty for the length of the guests stay. We are not sure what was wrong with the television controller as this was a brand new television just a few weeks ago but we will certainly check this out Property Owner

It is very well equipped, maintained to a high standard (including cleanliness) & in a perfect location. It is a two minute walk down into Craster providing access to coastal walks in either direction with amazing views. It is also well positioned to explore the wider area - with beautiful Alnmouth to the south & Seahouses, Holy Island etc to the north. The information folder for the property is detailed & kept up to date (including easy to follow instructions for all appliances). A decent welcome pack was provided & it's great that the property is made available to pet owners. We would very much recommend High Tide & hope to be back ourselves at some point.

High Tide House provided us with a very welcoming and comfortable base to explore the beautiful Northumberland coastline. The cottage is finished to a very high standard, was spotlessly clean and provided us with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We loved the upside down layout, the light and airy living space was surrounded by windows looking out onto the trees. The location is superb for exploring, the harbour is literally a 2 minute walk away, while the beautiful Embleton Bay is also within walking distance or a very short drive! The village has great local amenities and the lovely town of Alnwick is approx 10 mins drive away. All in all a superb holiday, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

  • "We had a lovely holiday at High Tide House."

It's a very comfortable house, and the location is nice and quiet (even though there are other houses nearby). The house is well-equipped - the only thing we wanted but couldn't find was an oven glove! The only thing worth noting is that one of the double beds seems to be smaller than a standard double, so not ideal for two larger people or if you like a lot of space! But overall a lovely house, very clean and well-presented.

Thanks for your feedback and we are glad to hear you had a great stay at High Tide House. Both the Double Beds are the same standard size, with a king in the en-suite. There should have been an oven Glove for your stay we are unsure why this was missing but it's been replaced. We hope to see you back soon. Property Owner

  • "Lovely house in the perfect location."

Very comfortable beds and sofas, except the black one. Well equipped kitchen with plenty of glasses, cups & plates. Nice addition of washer/drier and rotary washing line. Fabulous outside area that has a sun trap. Have to be careful opening the freeze door as it separates from the integrated door. Needs to have wardrobes in all rooms. Hooks on all doors and larger shelves in the bathrooms would be nice. TV signal is not very good and you can’t use the firestick in the main bedroom because you need to verify the code, but there’s no phone signal. Thankfully I brought my Apple TV box. These things did not spoil our holiday and we would definitely stay there again.

Thank you for the feedback and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay at High Tide House. The TV in the bedroom is to be upgraded to a SMART TV and further hooks are to be added to the bathroom. It's great to know you’d stay with us again and hope to see you soon" Property Owner

  • "We were given the wrong code to access the lock box for the cottage key."

Luckily, the cleaner was at another property and was able to give us the correct one, otherwise it would have been a problem as there is no mobile phone network coverage in the area. The property is very modern and new and presumably has not had many bookings yet. There are a few areas that could be improved - blinds would be preferable in the en-suite bedroom and front double bedroom as one is overlooked by a public footpath and the other faces the main road. The en-suite shower would benefit from some sort of shelving for toiletries. Given that the property is designed to accommodate 7 people, the dishwasher is too small. There were only 2 of us, and the dishwasher was on almost every day. These points are intended as constructive and not complaints. We had a very enjoyable stay here and the property is well situated for various attractions and there is also a multitude of walking trails, notably the Northumberland Coastal Path.

Thank you for taking the time to send in your review. The description of the guests key safe location has been updated to ensure the correct key safe is used by guests. The property is brand new as you mentioned, and Black out curtains are to be fitted on the en-suite bedroom. The rear fencing had been updated to ensure privacy at the rear of the property. We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

About the location

CRASTER

Alnwick 7 miles; Embleton 3 miles.

A picturesque village that seems to tumble into the sea, Craster was an important fishing harbour in the 17th century and is still famous for its oak cured kippers which have graced the best breakfast tables for more than 150 years. The village offers a pub serving food, a fish restaurant and Robson's famous fish shop. There is also an excellent children's playground. Nearby are some of Northumberland's finest sandy beaches. Just south of Craster is Howick Hall, which was built in 1782 and has associations with the Grey family, including Earl Grey the great social reformer and tea enthusiast. The gardens at Howick Hall are open to the public during the spring and summer and are especially worth a visit during the rhododendron season. A walk along the coastal footpath to the north of Craster brings you to the dramatic ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle - the largest ruined castle in Northumberland.
