Then a road sweeper comes within a few feet of the property every morning at 6am. The property was very dirty and we had to start cleaning bathrooms/sinks ect upon our arrival. I had to send photo evidence of this as it was so bad. The owner seemed reluctant to put the adequate amount of money to cover a full weeks stay to provide us with WiFi, so every few days it would go off and we then needed to wait for him to sort it out. Due to the issues above we actually cut our holiday short as it was no longer enjoyable. Apart from the above issues Alnwick was beautiful and so were the surrounding areas and Sykes did what they could to resolve the problem. I think more stringent checks on property’s need putting in place, so not to disappoint customers. It seems when customers have a negative experience when they stay in a property on your books, your hands are somewhat tied and ultimately if the owners chose not to admit any responsibility then you seem to have to go along with that. I was offered £30 back from the owner as compensation for a Holiday I’d paid £ 450 for and £45 To be taken off my next break booked through the company,as a goodwill gesture from Sykes Because the issue took a while to resolve.

Paces from the apartment is a local pub, serving fine food and a store selling local produce.

A few minutes' walk down the road, you will find the medieval historical Alnwick Castle, and is open to the public throughout the summer.

Set in lovely landscaped garden - this is not a site you want to miss.

ALNWICK

Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
