  • "Superb holiday cottage."

Rooms lovely and spacious. Great location 5 mins walk from Amble high street, port and coast. Area of outstanding natural beauty. Cottage had lots of nice finishing touches. Peaceful and quiet, ideal for recharging one's batteries. Beds very comfortable. Parking right outside was no problem. Couldnt find facility for recycling tins, plastics, bottles, cardboard which would have been helpful. Kitchen was well stocked. Nice bathroom. Would highly recommend, thank you. Friendly area.

Really comfy beds, loved the new layout in the lounge and the fact that money is being spent on updating - new TV and wood burner. Just a few niggles that haven't been sorted but others have mentioned - front door lock sticking, light bulbs out in dining room and kitchen and cooker hood. Unfortunately my daughter became ill on our last day but we were able to book another night so she could recover before travelling - many thanks to the owner and Sykes, also to the cleaner for giving us an extra hour's grace on Sun morning! Hope to be back again - a very comfy cottage.

  • "We had another great stay at 23 Northumbria Terrace."

The previous issue with the toilet being shoehorned into a very tight space has been resolved with a clever bathroom refurbishment. This property is a real home from home, comfortable, well equipped and superbly placed for exploring up and down the beautiful Northumbria coast. The only improvement I could suggest (and I'm really nit picking) is that there was no blue wheelie bin for the recycling, which meant it all had to go in he general waste bin. I highly recommend this property.

  • "Fantastic location, only 10 mins walk to Amble Harbour, has a large grass area 1 min from the cottage for dog zoomies."

I was pleasantly surprised at how well equipped the cottage was. Full kitchen utensils, hair dryer in main bedroom. My only negatives are main bed does make a racket when you move/turn over, thankfully I was a lone sleeper in that room. Neither bedroom door shuts properly so if you want full privacy you won’t get it. The photos are outdated as far as outside is concerned. The courtyard is not somewhere pleasant to sit, needs a lock of paint and weeds removing, paving sorting. Also not good to see the cleaner has left a mop bucket/mop outside. Front garden is nice but the furniture needs repainting. The garden gate has dropped and needs repairing as you have to use strength to lift up to open and close. There is also 2 large nails and a rusty piece of metal stick long out to the right of the front door in the brickwork so be careful if you have little dogs/young children. I did email the owners about the tv screw being faulty on our first day but never heard back, so if it’s not replaced don’t worry it’s not your eyesight there are marks that you can see when the tv is on and a light background. It also has a bath with shower over now not a walk in shower as shown in the photos All in all it is a cracking cottage. Would be perfect if they could just do a bit of maintenance. I would recommend for a base for Northumberland, we just wouldn’t go back as we’d go further up the coast to stay next time.

  • "A very nice property, very comfortable, clean and tidy."

The only thing that needs improvement is the rear yard which needs weeds and grass removed. The house is situated on a quiet street and we had no problems with on-street parking, and it is only a short walk to the middle of Amble. For those with a dog there is a large field at the end of the road. We had no trouble sleeping or problems with the bathroom that some people have commented on. This property will be our first chose when visiting Northumberland again. For those who like a good pint of Real Ale we would suggest they visit The Cock & Bull in Amble ( card payment only, no cash )

  • "A well equipped and nicely furnished property within close proximity to town and a large supermarket."

The details describe and show a picture of a walk in shower which are not correct as there is a bath with overhead shower, which may be a problem for someone with limited mobility. As previously commented the main bed is extremely noisy and creaks when someone moves which disturbs sleep, and the back yard is untidy and unkempt. We couldn't find the recycling bin outside as listed in the information provided in the cottage. However we had a very enjoyable stay and would recommend.

Bed comfortable but creaky.Slight damp patch on ceiling in main bedroom which looks like water ingress from roof. Bathroom- when it came to using the toilet we found the space very tight, it would be better if there was a shower curtain as opposed to glass partition between shower and toilet. We are not the largest of people but it was tight. Also bathroom sink was very slow flowing this could be due to a blockage, also you could not remove sink plug to check. Overall a nice cottage but with things that need adressed in the bathroom. Rest of cottage fantastic, well furnished and equipped and great location only downsides the issue with the bathroom as mentioned above.

Comfortable and well equipped with good quality fixtures and fittings. The only drawback is the toilet, which is shoehorned into a narrowish gap between a wall and the fixed shower screen. The house is in a mostly quiet residential location with great access to green space for walking a dog and access to local supermarket. It is a short walk to local bakery and the harbour with its market and lovely restaurants over looking the sea and sand dunes. We would have liked a long handled brush to keep the floor clean during our stay, please consider adding one to the utility area. For once the mattress on the main bed was of decent quality and comfortable compared to others we have stayed in however the bed frame creaks at the slightest turn in bed which got a bit annoying towards the end of the stay. We enjoyed being able to sit in the front garden with a drink on returning from a day out. About the location

AMBLE

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
