Everything you would need for a weeks holiday and an exceptionally generous goodies tray left for us to enjoy. Cress well and Druridge Country Park were our favourite beaches, dog friendly all year round. Great Sunday market and a fabulous Sunday lunch at the Harbour Inn…enough chicken left over for Hollie to have for her tea next day! The weather was really lovely, no rain till the day we went home so I’d hung Hollies little raincoat on the back of the utility door as it wasn’t needed. Wasn’t till we got home I realised that I’d left it. I rang the owner Glenys who went straight round and found it and kindly put it in the post for us. Thankyou so much for your kindness and for the loan of your holiday home Janet, Stephen and Hollie.

Thanks for your lovely review and information for future guests. Property Owner

We had one minor problem which was quickly sorted out by the very pleasant owners Glenys and Neil. I was pleasantly surprised with this property and I genuinely rate it at four stars. I would be happy to stay there again. The small, things that make a stay easier were present like cloths, washing up liquid, hand soap, dishwasher tablets, laundry tablets, kitchen towel and toilet roll. The welcome pack containing tea, coffee, sugar, lemon cake, scones, biscuits and crisps plus milk, fresh orange and butter in the fridge was much appreciated as no immediate need for us to rush to the shops after arriving late. The heating was on for our arrival and we settled in and felt at home immediately as we found the house warm and comfortable. The street is quiet and even though the bedrooms are to the front of the house we slept well and were never disturbed. We didn’t make much use of the courtyard as it was too cold but it was nice to look out the patio doors onto a courtyard plus our dogs enjoyed lying in the sun which we did get on a couple of occasions. We found parking easy and always managed to park at the door during our weeks stay. The apartment is handy for everything the beach, town, harbour with its lovely pier, pod shops and fish restaurants they are only a few minutes walk away. There is also a very handy large grassed area in front of Panhaven Rd for exercising the dogs at night when it got dark, although we often walked this way to the beach everyday accessing it by passing the cemetery on Links Rd and walking along past the caravan park and then going down the path when you come to the car park at the dunes. We went into Amble most days sometimes for lunch or coffee and cake and sometimes to Spurreli for ice cream, the dogs always came with us and were welcomed in everywhere we went it’s an extremely dog friendly area. We would highly recommend the apartment, although I was tempted to keep it a secret, as we hope to go back and don’t want to find we can’t get in!

Amble is a beautiful little town with lots to see and do nearby. The cottage was perfect and a real bonus having the secure courtyard to sit out in, especially with two dogs in residence. The living room was large enough to house cages for the dogs so that they were secure at night while still leaving plenty of space for people. The owners left a selection of snacks and tea/coffee which was appreciated, although we could have done with a second toilet roll so that we didn't have to buy a 4-pack for the use of one more than the single one left. This was a minor issue, however. For four people, this was an excellent property and all on ground level so good for anyone with mobility issues. The beds are quite firm which suited us, although the pillows were quite uncomfortable and another time, we would bring our own.

About the location

AMBLE

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
