  • "Amblers Rest was a delightful property."

An excellent welcome pack made it possible to have an instant cup of tea on arrival! The cottage is well situated for easy access to both harbour and the surrounding beaches. The kitchen was well stocked with enough crockery and utensils to woo any cook! ( Must admit, not used by me,I-come on holiday to eat out!) A great little retreat, enjoy! We liked the quieter atmosphere of Amble, the ‘Eateries’ were varied and plentiful to suit all tastes and pockets.

  • "Amblers Rest was up to a good standard regarding all facilities."

We did, however find all the laminated instructions a bit overwelming and, partly due to the weather, the cottage is very dark downstairs. Amble is great but the weather was pretty grim so we will return and hope for better weather.

  • "Unfortunately my husband cut his leg while on holiday which resulted with some marks on the bedding."

It clearly states in the many laminated notes throughout the property that guests are not to wash any bed linen or towels. When we got home we were then charged £71 for the bedding. I was not happy with that at all. When it rains there is a drainage problem coming from the roof at the back door and it’s morel like a waterfall than a drip which you can hear throughout the house.

Thank you for your feedback, We are sorry to hear that your husband cut his leg, there is a small first aid kit in the property. There was found to be blood and muddy pawprints on the bedding. There is a notice in the property asking guests to not wash bed linen and to contact me if they need anything. Can you advise on what was not clean? The leaking in the gutter will be fixed, thank you for letting us know. Property Owner

  • "I'd like to thank the owners of Amblers Rest, which was a perfect base for a weeks hoilday."

Positioned only a few mins from the dog friendly beaches (until May) meant getting up for a quick potter before heading out to explore this gorgeous part of Northumberland was so easy. The cottage is freshly decorated, homely, cosy and warm providing all the home comforts one needs. As soon as we entered Amblers Rest we knew we would be comfortable for the week. The double bed was exceptionally comfortable so we were able to sleep deeply after a days exploring. When we had a slight plumbing problem the owners of the property arrived instantly and sorted everything; they even left us a second basket of goodies, as an apology! The first basket we'd found on arrival to Amblers Rest was the biggest 'welcome pack' we've ever had, even our dog was spoilt/treated! All instructions for equipment were easy to follow, except we couldnt find the car park for recycling as advised on the bin. We did however find another area to use instead, so this could do with up-dating. The provision of so many maps/walks was really useful. We managed to fill each day with discovering a different area. What a beautiful area it is too. You will not be disappointed. Amble and neighbouring villages/towns have an abundance of tasty eateries so youll be spoilt for choice. We would certainly return to Amblers rest at the drop of a hat. Many THANKS for a perfect Holiday Home. Amanda and Nic

They not unduly concerned as said we had the downstairs shower. The downstairs shower was inadequate. Very small . Very claustrophobic. No shelf to put shower gel and shampoo...have to hold in hand whilst showering. I have had better shower set ups on camp sites. Bad start to every day because of the shower. To make matters worse the owner text us on our DEPARTURE morning to say they could not get parts for the upstairs shower.NOT IMPRESSED what good is that info to our holiday. Very unsatisfactory. Would not recommend or use the property again.

I would like to apologise once again that the shower was broken for your stay. The first contact we had from you was at 6.55pm on Saturday evening. We attended the property that night and advised we will have to order a new shower. You advised that you were happy to use the shower downstairs which at 900mm is slightly larger than a standard shower, The new shower arrived and was fitted on Friday 25th – Thank you for your feedback. About the location

AMBLE

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
