  • "It was a pleasure to stay in this property."

It was peaceful, spotless, very comfortable (beds and sofas), and the kitchen had every item I needed. I really appreciated the WIFI for Zoom calls, the DAB radio in the kitchen, and the extras eg vase and living room clock often missing from holiday lets. As is clear from the details, the outside space is limited, but pleasant to sit in nevertheless. Overall I would happily recommend Cherry Cottage.

  • "This was a lovely comfortable cottage in a good location within an easy walking distance to shops/restaurant and the harbour."

The cottage was well equipped and had everything needed if you wanted to stay in to cook but we preferred to gout most nights. The downstairs cloakroom/utility was a real bonus.

  • "It was a nice-sized and well-equipped house, a few minutes walk from the centre of Amble."

There is a Co-op about 3 mins walk away, a Tesco Express 10 mins walk and a bigger Morrisons a couple of minutes away. It’s a great base to explore Northumberland with a beautiful beach nearby at Alnmouth. Also lots of castles to explore nearby. The only downside is that the house is in a residential street with weirdly passive-aggressive neighbours who obviously don’t like sharing their street with holidaymakers. Often the parking space outside the house was taken so had to park outside someone else’s house which seemed to cause issues. Also some of the kitchen items had been put away dirty.

Plenty of room & all the facilities you require for a week's stay . We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Cherry Cottage & had good contact with the owner when required. Would love to stay again , especially if we experienced the same glorious weather , as well as Amble, you are in close commuting distance to many interesting towns & walks .

It’s a short distance from the harbour and we enjoyed walks along the pier and round the estuary to Warkworth. The cottage is well equipped, roomy and comfortable. We had a wonderful holiday and felt very much at home there.

The only slight negative is that the parking is on the street, however we managed to park directly outside on all bar one occasion. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Much bigger than expected. Photos don’t do it justice! Really clean and well equipped. Great base to explore Northumberland from. Owners really nice and helpful. Only downside is limited outdoor space, but Amble has lots of lovely places to sit and watch the world go by within easy walking distance. Would definitely return!

  • "Absolutely awful experience!"

Not the area but the property and then the owners customer service approach! Appalling! This was our first time away since covid and all of us were excited. Firstly the term “cottage” seems to used for any property now but it does bring an image to your mind. This isn’t what this “cottage” is. It’s a terraced house on a street -near the centre of Amble -but that’s about it. No other cottage features at all. Not a quaint or cosy house! Far from it! So initial issues - you have to fight for parking, hear drunks on the street at night and then there is the property itself. Firstly it’s not clean- shoes need to be worn or your feet will be black!- it had cobwebs everywhere- surely that fails the basic hygiene standards (especially since the pandemic and hygiene being even more important) but the worst was the dirt and grime in the bathroom and the shower in particular. The water wouldn’t drain and the shower pipe was disgusting. The cottage has a smoky smell and it just felt stuffy and grotty! We focused on days out and making memories but did flag our concerns during our stay. The owner decided - even with all the photos and videos - that these issues were not worthy of a decent response. Terrible customer service response and I will be honest I’m waiting for Sykes to explain how we escalate this as clearly the owner places little or no value on being listed with them and the views of anyone staying there. Location of property is the only thing that was positive. Apart from that do not go here and waste your money on a terrible experience. Shocking!!!

Mrs Womersley, I'm sorry your stay was a negative experience and you felt my customer service wasn't up to standard. Owner telephone numbers are left with guests for any questions/issues. I would have been happy to travel to Cherry Cottage to see and resolve any rectifiable issues raised. We feel the photos represent the property accurately, showing all its features and excellent location near the centre of Amble. External factors such as parking/people passing the property is out of our control, but is not something we've experienced or had negative feedback on. We use a reputable cleaning company, through Sykes managed services, and have had excellent feedback on cleanliness from previous guests. I'm sure you can understand its difficult when cleanliness issues are raised 5 days into a stay with request for compensation, as we would expect the property to be well used by guests by then. I have corresponded with Sykes and the cleaning company regarding this issue, as the complaint was raised through Sykes. We Love Cherry Cottage and want guests to have a great stay. I am devastated to receive such a negative feedback regarding the property, having received glowing reviews previously, but will take your feedback on board. Thank you, Jennifer. Property Owner

In a great location for the beach, town and harbour with shops and eateries only a few minutes walk away. It was spotlessy clean and everything had been thought of. Everything we needed was there. The owner responded promptly to texts and the information pack they left was incredibly useful. We used several of their recommendations for places to eat and places to visit. Amble and the surrounding area are lovely with gorgeous beaches to visit and lots of great days out. Thank you Jen for a wonderful stay!

About the location

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
