  • "Great Holiday let on a quiet street in Amble Town centre."

    5 minutes walk to the Harbour and great base to explore Northumberland. The cottage had everything we needed including an secure back yard so we didn't need to worry about the dog. Clean, comfortable, and cosy home. Would definitely stay again.

  • "We had an excellent stay over the Easter weekend."

    This cottage is beautiful and has been very tastefully decorated. Very quiet street and the on street parking was no issue at all. Very comfortable lounge which is bigger than you think! The bed and bedding feel very luxurious and ensured we had a lovely nights sleep! The kitchen has everything you need, a real home away from home! The small courtyard is ideal for letting the dogs out first thing before walking only about 5 minutes to open fields and the sea/harbour. Thank you so much for letting us share your cottage and will certainly book again when we are on the area

  • "House is on a quiet road with no reserved parking, although we managed to park right outside."

    It's handy for the Co-op, pubs & takeaways and not too far from the seafront & small beach. Kitchen was fine & we had been left a disposable cloth, teacloth, some dishwasher tabs, a couple of tea bags, sugar, milk sachets & some biscuits - nice. A worrying omission was any form of recycling bins... The lounge is larger than we thought it would be, has a couple of large comfy sofas & was very warm during storm Arwen, that arrived when we did. Double bed wasn't against the wall as in the photos, thankfully, & we slept quite well despite the it being softer than we are used to. Bathroom was a decent size but the shower, that was run from the taps, was a bit of a let down as it wasn't terribly powerful. Overall this house was great for the two of us & our two dogs.

  • "The cottage was only superficially clean, used tissues found down the side of the beds and general dirt in places that required a bit of effort to clean."

    The rug in the living room was bent up at the corners and was a trip hazard The worst thing was the beds. The double was so uncomfortable with a hard cheap mattress, even with a topper, that we had to use the marginally better two singles, hardly what you want on a holiday. On the positive side the property was in a quiet residential street, a walk to the sea front was only ten minutes and on street parking was not a problem. It was reasonably well equipped downstairs but there was little space upstairs to unpack and we largely lived out of our suitcases.

    I wanted to respond to your feedback as the owner of Edwin Cottage. I am extremely surprised that you found tissues down the side of the bed as we have good feedback on the cleanliness of the house. It would have been useful if you had shared your concerns about cleanliness at the beginning of your holiday with our maintenance company. They would have been able to look into this and resolve any issues rather than hearing about your concerns after your return. However, I will follow up with the cleaners and I am sorry that the cleaning wasn't to the normal high standard. I haven't had any feedback on issues regarding the rug from other guests but will also look into this. Additionally no other guests have complained about the beds and we have actually had the opposite feedback to say the beds are comfortable. Downstairs the house is very well equipped with plentiful seating and dining facilities, smart TV, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, and outside a 4 seater table and chairs. The main bedroom has an inbuilt wardrobe with clothes hanging and shelf space. The suitcase can also be stored in the wardrobe. The bedside table has draws that guests can use for additional space. Therefore there is no need to live out of a suitcase in this bedroom. Property Owner

  • "Edwin Cottage is a mostly comfortable 2 bedroom cottage on a quiet street which is near to shops and in easy walking distance of the marina and sea."

    The cottage is well equipped downstairs with everything we needed. Upstairs, the bedrooms are very small. Manoeuvring around the double bed to get dressed was tricky and storage for clothes was minimal. In the single room there’s no wardrobe space or significant drawers, so my daughter was living out of her suitcase for the stay. I’m really glad there was just the two of us or it really would’ve made things tricky! I’ve stayed in much bigger properties for a lot less than I paid for this… but I understand prices will go up for stays in the UK in the current circumstances.

    Thanks for your review. Edwin Cottage is a traditional 2 bedroom character property in a conservation area. The bedrooms are a standard size for this type of house. Within the larger bedroom there is an inbuilt wardrobe for hanging clothes and shelves. A suitcase can also be stored there. We also have a bedside table with draws. There is a king size bed in the room for guest comfort, as well as a dressing table and stool. These facilities mean that the room is well appointed. The smaller bedroom does have a bedside table with a set of draws and limited wall hanging space. We are new owners of Edwin Cottage and plan on improving the storage in the second bedroom in the new year. Edwin Cottage offers great value for money for the range of equipment and facilities that we offer throughout the whole house and garden area in a fantastic location. Property Owner

  • "A lovely traditional cottage very close to the town centre and a short drive to the large Morrisons."

    Amble itself had lots of lovely little shops and plenty of restaurants and takeaways to choose from. There's an excellent Co-op and Tesco Express in the High Street for everyday essentials. Very well situated for exploring Northumberland - we've not been before and thought it was all just wonderful. Plenty of sitting room furniture for 3 adults. The cushions on the larger brown sofa constantly slid off though which was a bit irritating but nothing we couldn't live with! It was nice to have a dining room table. We managed to get parked outside the cottage most days or a little further down the street on the few occasions we couldn't. The kitchen was well equipped - there were a couple of things missing - only 3 bowls for example and the cottage is for 4 people. We have a dog - so noticed that there was no broom or vacuum cleaner to tidy up after her - this could have been because of COVID but we felt a soft broom would have been helpful. The bathroom was very well appointed and the shower very good. Plenty of hot water. Very comfortable beds and the bedrooms were nicely decorated. There wasn't much storage space especially in the 2nd bedroom but as there was only the 3 of us this again wasn't an issue for us. We were very lucky with the weather and spent the early evenings sat in the little courtyard garden which was a bit of a suntrap at certain times of the day. We all had a very enjoyable stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Edwin cottage.

I believe that one of the patterned set was broken recently which we will replace. However, there should be plenty of the white bowls despite this.   • "Feel we lost 2 day's due to the new check in times at 5pm and checking out time at 10am."

    Would have liked some cleaning equipment, sweeping brush ect, and instruction books for cooker and electric goods. When booking in future would like to know the full address of the property because the location was disappointing, the pictures showed a view overlooking the sea, but the cottage was at the top of the town nowhere near the sea.

    I wanted to respond to your feedback as the owner of Edwin Cottage. The check-in and check-out times are set by Sykes. I am sorry to hear that you felt like you lost two days of your holiday but these are standard changeover times. They allow enough time to ensure that a thorough changeover can be done between guests. We strive to provide a good level of equipment for our guests and have had good feedback on this. This includes cleaning products. I appreciate that working new electrical equipment can be tricky so we will arrange for instructions to be added for future guests. Regarding the location of Edwin Cottage, the property is located less than a 10-minute walk to the sea and images shown. Previous guests have commented that the property is very well located. It is located within easy walking distance of amenities as well as being less than a mile away from the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty AONB). The pictures included on the website show guests the area of Amble. Providing images of the area where a holiday property is located in is common and nowhere in the information do we claim that the property overlooks the sea. Additionally, the website for Edwin Cottage includes a map where guests can see exactly where the house is situated. Property Owner

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
