    “Feel we lost 2 day's due to the new check in times at 5pm and checking out time at 10am.”

    Would have liked some cleaning equipment, sweeping brush ect, and instruction books for cooker and electric goods. When booking in future would like to know the full address of the property because the location was disappointing, the pictures showed a view overlooking the sea, but the cottage was at the top of the town nowhere near the sea.

    I wanted to respond to your feedback as the owner of Edwin Cottage. The check-in and check-out times are set by Sykes. I am sorry to hear that you felt like you lost two days of your holiday but these are standard changeover times. They allow enough time to ensure that a thorough changeover can be done between guests. We strive to provide a good level of equipment for our guests and have had good feedback on this. This includes cleaning products. I appreciate that working new electrical equipment can be tricky so we will arrange for instructions to be added for future guests. Regarding the location of Edwin Cottage, the property is located less than a 10-minute walk to the sea and images shown. Previous guests have commented that the property is very well located. It is located within easy walking distance of amenities as well as being less than a mile away from the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty AONB). The pictures included on the website show guests the area of Amble. Providing images of the area where a holiday property is located in is common and nowhere in the information do we claim that the property overlooks the sea. Edwin Cottage is a cosy traditional stone house on a quiet road in the popular coastal town of Amble܂ It’s located within easy walking distance of a range of shops, highly rated and award-winning restaurants, an ice cream parlour, one of the best traditional fish and chip shops in the North East and a selection of pubs܂ From Edwin Cottage you can also take a stroll to Amble marina and quayside area that offers a range of leisure and shopping opportunities and benefits from fantastic scenery with views of the Coquet estuary, Warkworth castle and the bird watching haven of RSPB Coquet Island which lies just a mile off the coast܂ Coquet Island is most famous for the colourful puffins who return in their thousands to breed each spring time܂ Seasonal boat trips are available to see the island close up.

Amble is a delightful seaside town which has a selection of pubs and restaurants for that fine dining experience, as well as a number of independent shops and supermarkets for picking up any last-minute essentials܂ The quayside in Amble has a Sunday weekly market and is home to the Harbour Village where small independent shopping pods sell a range of arts, crafts, accessories, food and drink܂ Less than 3 miles from Edwin Cottage is the The Hauxley Wildlife Discovery centre܂ This is one of the best wildlife watching spots in the North East܂ Right next to the beach, it offers fantastic views across the length of Druridge Bay and is internationally renowned for its birds.

You can also travel only a few miles into the thriving market town of Alnwick which has a number of local shops and pubs for further amenities, as well as a number of tourist hot spots܂ Visit the medieval Alnwick Castle which has been featured as a filming location in a variety of films, including the outside shots of Hogwarts in Harry Potter films܂ The castle also has a set of stunning landscaped gardens to explore, including the famous Poison Garden܂ If you fancy a picnic or just a long walk, Hulne Park is the perfect choice, as well as Alnwick Castle Golf Club for those seeking to enjoy a friendly game܂ After your day enjoying this wonderful area return to 11 Edwin Street for a relaxing evening with your loved ones in this picturesque setting.

AMBLE

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
